Cisco WAN :: Is Cat4506E (Sup7E) Supported In VSS Mode
Sep 3, 2012I have a question about VSS support. Is Cat4506E(Sup7E) supported in VSS mode? Any requirement and doc related to Cat4506E in VSS mode for the references?

View 2 RepliesI have a WLC2504 and 2 LAP1261N (converted from autonomous to lightweight) with release 7.0.116.0 and I want to create a point-to-point mesh link between the 2 APs. When trying to change the APs mode from local to bridge I receive the message "This AP does not support bridge mode" even if the release notes say that mesh is supported on AP1261N. I tried to change the mode from gui and also from CLI.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI am using Cisco 4510 Switch with Default LAN Base image. Now I have purchased 10G Upgrade license. The part number for Upgrade license is WS-C4500-10G-LIC. I have received a CD from Cisco (named as 'Includes License and Warranty'). Any License upgradation is required for this license? Or this is only a paper License.
I could not find out any .lic file on the CD. Also there is no paper with PAK.
I recently configured a network with a 4500 Sup7E and a 3560G with jumbo frame support. I am trying to confirm operation. On the 4500 this is straight forward using "sho int g0/nn count detail". [code] The 3560 doesn't support that command. The closest I can come to finding the number of jumbo packets is "show controllers ethernet" (example below). On the transmit side I assume that jumbo frames would be tallied in the "Too large frames" counter. The receive side is a little more ambiguous. There are 2 counters that seem to be duplicates, "Valid frames, too large" and "Valid oversize frames". In operation they are not. I am seeing the "Valid frames, too large" counter incrementing while the "Valid oversize frames" remains at zero. [code]
View 0 Replies View RelatedI got an ASA 5510 system currently in single context mode, with CSC SSM installed. Single ISP uplink to internet, no VPN. And now customer would like add another ISP uplink, without invest another box for HA.What come across my mind is make the current box into multi context. There's some area i need to concern and also need yours perspective on it.
Question 1: For making the firewall into multi context, am i need to do it from scratch, issue mode multiple command. Then rebuilt the current production config into one of the context, then another context meant for the new IPS uplink, and one admin context?
Question 2: For CSC -SSM licensing requirement, model ASA 5510 with security plus license is able to support 2 context. So if i split my firewall like what i mention in question, what exactly number of context do i own (admin, context A, context B)?
Question 3: For CSC-SSM module in multi context mode, so the management port of CSC SSM must attach at admin context?
Question 4: After configured all the policy and traffic to scan, how exactly i should do in order apply this policy to the interface? Should i only enable at admin context, then firewall service-policy rules, and apply it global, OR should i also do the same action on context A and Context B?
We have recently converted 1 Cisco Lightweight AP 1041 to Autonomous mode for site-survey purposes. We now want to convert it back to lightweight mode.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI received the following info from Cisco's TAC and wanted to inquire further before I start reconfiguring the switch:
In a redundant Sup-6E setup, the following configuration is supported :
- 1 TenGig uplink on Active Sup and 1 TenGig uplink on Standby Sup
- 1 TenGig uplink on Active Sup and 2 Gig uplinks on Standby Sup
- 2 Gig uplinks on Active Sup and 1 TenGig uplink on Standby Sup
- 2 Gig uplink on Active Sup and 2 Gig uplinks on Standby Sup
If you invoke shared backplane mode, the following configuration can also be supported:
- 2 TenGig uplinks(blocking) on Active Sup and 2 TenGig uplinks on Standby Sup
- 2 TenGig uplink(blocking) on Active Sup and 4 Gig uplinks on Standby Sup
- 4 Gig uplinks on Active Sup and 2 TenGig uplinks(blocking) on Standby Sup
- 4 Gig uplink on Active Sup and 4 Gig uplinks on Standby Sup
Here's the command and information about the "shared-backplane" mode :- [URL]
Currently, we have 2 SUP 6-Es(Module 5 - Active and Module 6 - Stand-by) setup in a redundent mode. I am planning on changing the redundent mode to the shared backplane mode so I can use 2 TenGig converters to uplink 2 access-switches. We purchased 2 TenGig converters and here is how I am planning on using them:
1- One will be used to uplink to two 3750 switches(stacked)
2- One will be used to uplink to a 2960 using a Gig SFP
My questions are:
1- Do I have to install the 2 TenGig converters(4-Gig Uplinks) in the same Module? Or can I use one one in module 5 and the second one in module 6?
2- Will changing the redundant mode to the shared backplane mode require rebooting the switch or disrupt the funtionality of the other linecards?
How can we know that 6500 and 7600 series switch and router are running in native mode or in hybrid mode.

Its kind of frustrating to keep doing this all the time and besides i am scared by restarting the laptop so many time can harm it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to 7.2 on my 5508 WCS, the 1310 APs will no longer join. After a call to TAC they said the 1300 and 1400 APs are no longer supported on WCS. Is there any plan to add them back as supported in future releases?I was thinking I could downgrade my backup 5508 and change the APs to autonomous. Or is there some easier way to make them autonomous?
Also, as a low cost outdoor AP, I guess I am reduced to putting 1262s in a NEMA box with outdoor antennas. The 1552s are way too expensive for the quantity I need. Is there some other inexpensive outdoor AP that will replace 1300-1400 series?
Recently I purchased AIR-WLC2112-K9, but when I logged in I saw that system shows only 6 APs supported (I made print screen in addition). I'm running IOS v. 7.0.116.0 and I saw that there was some problems with earlier versions of IOS, but not this one.
View 5 Replies View Relatedwe just purchased 2 asa 5585-40's and tried to add them to our lms 3.2 system and we were informed by cisco tac that they were not supported in lms 3.2. since we don't having funding for an upgrade, any work around within lms that could allow me to add the devices so i can use lms for syslog and to fetch the firewall configs on a regular basis, instead of having to setup a seperate syslog server and having to tftp the config's everytime i make a change.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a pair of physical ASR 1002 routers, called ASR-1 and ASR-2. I setup HSRP on both ASR-1 and ASR-2 on both g0/0/0 and g0/0/1 interfaces, nothing complicated, just straight forward HSRP.
Now Cisco TAC told me that HSRP is NOT supported between physical ASR routers. WTF!
Furthermore, they told me that HSRP only supported within a single ASR because of multiple routed processors. In other words, you can setup HSRP with a single physical ASR but not with two physical ASR routers.
HSRP can not supported with two physical ASR routers?

My problem with ASR 1006 as i tried to use the feature IRB ( integrated routing and bridging ) but i find that this feature is not supported i assume it may be a problem with IOS version or may be i made he configuration not in the proper way
so i am asking to try this feature on ASR 1000 series and work with it as I test this feature on other routers and it work just fine.
Can a 2504 wlc use a vlan ids of 190X? I have found that it supports 512 vlans but I have not found any restrictions in the id used.Vlan id 190X is distributed by the isp (they have the ASAs in their central site) so if it is not supported I must prepare a vlan transfer between switches.
