I believe I know the answer to this question already but I just wanted to make sure. Is it possible to connect a LAP access point directly to WCS without using a WLC? WCS is just for management and reporting and does not act as a WLC.
Just wanted to confirm if the above AP and antenna are compatible. I was trying to configure them on the Cisco configurator, but I couldnt find it as an option for the 1262AP.
I foolishly put this 1262 into Bridge mode. The AP didn't accept that.
It had been joined to a 5508 running 7.2.110.0 and was running fine.
I've loaded on ap3g1-rcvk9w8-tar.124-23c.JA5.tar using the archive download-sw /overwrite /force-reload tftp://10.192.175.119//ap3g1-rcvk9w8-tar.124-23c.JA5.tar command.
When the AP reboots it has retained it's hostname from its CAPWAP days and indicates it is in DISCOVERY: %CAPWAP-5-CHANGED: CAPWAP changed state to DISCOVERY.
It gets a DHCP IP but never tries to find a controller. DNS on the subnet resolves CISCO-CAPWAP-CONTROLLER (& lwapp) to the 5508 mentioned above. I use this port for priming all my APs.
Are there other residual files in nvram: or flash: I need to remove? Is this thing now just a fancy paperweight?
I have a new deployment with a Cisco 5508-50 controller running 7.0.220.0 code and 35 AIR-LAP1262N-A-K9 access points. Current legacy clients have trouble connecting and after connecting they may or may not drop off and have trouble connecting again.
I have a customer with several older Aironet 1121G WAP's. In one area of the plant the noise levels from several large motors is preventing reliable connection to the WAP, even though it is located in the same conference room as the users. I am suggesting upgrading the 1121G to the 3502I to take advantage of the Clean Air technology. This raises two questions:
1) Will a single 3502I be able to effectively handle the RF noise, or does it require a network of WAPs to function properly?
2) Does the 3502I require the CT2504 controller for the Clean Air to work, or will it function in a stand alone mode?
I have some old 1231 APs in the school in which I work.I would like to create a local network (no LAN, no internet, just a point to point wifi connection) managed by the access point (in DHCP).That's because we have an apple TV connected to a projector and some ipads. My idea was to put the devices locally in the same closed network for share via AIR Mirror the ipads on the apple TV.
We typically use the 2602 series AP in lightweight mode, however I have a scenario where we are going to be installing one with the stand-alone software. I understand that we will not be able to utilze certain features that you get with the WLC such as RRM, rogue detection, and clean air.
We do want to utilze both the 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ bands. In order to do this with the 2602 stand-alone AP, will we have to configure 2 separate SSID's? I really do not want to do this to if I do not have to to minimize confusion for clients.
We are deploying a new office and exploring the options for WLAN deployment. We were pretty impressed with 3500 series APs and that it supports CleanAir.However, we have decided to go for standalone AP deployment model now. As 3500 does not work in standalone mode, so we are looking for APs that can work in standalone mode ( and later can be converted to lightweight if needed). We can go for 1140 in that case. However, it would be better for us to know the main differences between features supported by 3500 lightweight AP and 1140 standalone AP. CleanAir looks like the main one. Are there other important ones as well?
IPods and IPads to connect to stand alone AP1131? My scenario is as follows:
There is a section of a campus that is covered by 14 stand alone AP1131 were I experience the problem. The security parameters are: 802.1x, wpa enterprise, tkip
The other section is under WLC also AP1131 but in this case in WLANs/Scurity/Leyer 2 I checked boxes:
Wonder if the fact that I chose WPA2, AES makes a difference with stand alone mode? Anyways I tried configuring AES in stand alone APs and it didn't make a difference since I could not connect either.
We have an Cisco Aironet 1130AG access point which is deployed as Stand Alone Access point, connected to Cisco 2960 Switch. Now we want to configure an Guest Wifi Access for guest users , for accessing internet ,Is it possible to configure Guest wifi for stand alone access point,( Bcoz i created in WCS, i am not sure about stand alone), i read in articles like create new vlan for Guest account & assign it like that , but not clear.
I have a cable modem but need to hook up 2-3 computers. I cant get internet through my d link router, but can still use it for home networking. I tried getiing into the d link with 192.168.2.1 but failed...resetting does nothing. I also have a westell 7500 dsl modem/router but it also fails to supply any comp with internet, although only my xp comp can access it. I can not get into the routers. Resetting does nothing.
I have this LinkSys by Cisco Wireless-N gigabit model# WRT310N router that quit functioning in a weird way. (it has Wi-Fi protected setup on it, not sure if that would effect it, it's disabled) I have a friend in the condo above mine, but i have a Dial-Up internet conn and can afford a good broadband internet conn. a co-worker gave this router to me, saying he didn't need it for his network at home. It was still in original box, unopened, So it was intact. i set it up so i can play Age of Empires 1 (you probably haven't heard of it, it's a single player or Multi-player TCP/IP comp-to-comp game from '96) and i used a gigabit wired conn, he used wireless-N laptop. We played a few games, on the 4th game, it locks up about 12 mins into the game. we try again, the comp not even recognize each other. Knowing a little about networking from watching the IT guys at work, i tried the PING command in cmd.exe in vista, it will ping the router, not the other laptop. same thing on the other laptop pinging my desktop. i unplugged the router, and went to sleep.Next day, i got back from work, called the friend, plugged the router back in, and it work for another 14 mins, no ping. possibilities? the LinkSys website doesn't give answers, so what is it?Further Edit: my Gigabit conn is going through a 3 ft CAT5e cable, and the wireless-N trans rate is set to 130 Mbps.
Will i need another RFS6000 controller to run a single AP650 (isolated remote location) or it can be set in stand-alone mode ? I might consider install one antenna per location in 5 different store.
I have a working DMVPN solution. I am trying to stand up a secondary DMVPN hub at our disaster recovery site. We are trying to deply to a Dual HUB SIngle DMVPN solution. The HUB2 DMVPN router has an INSIDE trusted interface and has an OUTSIDE UNTRUSTED interface.
The inside is 10.248.11.X...the Untrust/public is 192.168.93.11 which is connected to our DMZ 3 on the ASA 5520.....then I am trying to NAT the 192.168.93.11 to an outside public IP 199.248.30.X....just not working...have had 2 tickets open with Cisco this week and they still are unable to resolve. I am sure it is the ASA5520 is not configured correctly.
we have 2 Access point WAP610N. The after some time goes in stand by and we doesn't able to connect to it. We updated at last firmware (1.0.02 build 3, Feb 25, 2011 ) Timeout inactivity 3600 Renewal key 600 Protection WPA2-PERSONAL
Devices are 3750-24TS Switches, software version is 12.2(55)SE6. how to troubleshoot this issue, I have a pair of ports which are not bundling, no matter what. Is the same behavior with LACP or PAgP. In this outputs I have only the PAgP case.
Output is similar to:
Group Port-channel Protocol Ports ------+-------------+-----------+----------------------------------------------- 12 Po12(SD) PAgP Fa1/0/23(I) Fa1/0/24(I)
In a stand alone 3750x switch configuration, can the secondary power supply only act as a redundant power supply (active/standby), or can it become a "pool" of power similar to power sharing mode for StackPower (somewhat active/active)? I understand there is no stack involved here but I'm curious if this functionality is possible.
Is there any way to configure a wired guest network with a combination of 5508 and 2504 wireless controllers? I am aware that the 2504 does not have wired guest functionality, however is it possible to set up a wired guest on the 5508 and using mobility anchors, transmit the l2 information through eoip to communicate with the remote vlan?Home built NAC solution, using 802.1x authentication on switchports for public areas. If user is an employee, communicates with the supplicant on their machine, and places them on an internal vlan.If user is a guest, user fails 802.1x check and is placed on a "guest" vlan with an ACL and external DNS.If placed on the guest vlan, the user has to accept a terms of use form. This is working currently with our 5508s without any issue, however we have some remote offices we'd like to roll this out to that are using 2504 controllers. I'm hoping there's a way that I can use the 5508 as an anchor or vice versa to make this work.
I have 3 AP541N. I become this not in a cluster. The APs standalone in the room. The first AP connect with cable to a DHCP Router from a other manufacturer. The other both APs should be connect over WLAN.How I must configure the APs? Which parameters must install?
In the note, i ve seen we can configure a WDS with 2 WRVS4400N, but i can't.How can i configure the 2nd WRVS4400N as repeater? Or can i configure it as Access point for another modem ?
I would like to configure 3 Access Point (WAP4410N) to extend the wifi in my house. I try it to do several configuration but it doesn't work.
In this configuration, the wifi devices disappears and re-appears constantly. I lose the IP addresses and they all come down only every 5 seconds. I made screen shots of the 3 terminals in the word document attached below
How to configure multiple WAP321 Wifi at once? Because I need to configure around 100 APs and i want to know if there is any software from Cisco to do it, like a WLC or something else.
I can't configure the SSID more than one in the web UI of the WAP4410N. Except I can type the first SSID1, the rest SSID2 - 4 are grey which not allow me to type in anything. ( See attached the screen shot ) My current version is 2.02.1 and I was using IE8 under windows 7.
we are trying to configure WLC 2112 with LAP 1042 but getting following erros on LAP1042. It show the Ap is not supported in controller version 6.0.199.4
I am trying to configure an RV180W to act as a wireless bridge to our guest wireless network (Cisco 4404 WLC, 1130AG access points, WPA2 personal). I was told in a Cisco support chat that this configuration was possible, now that I have the RV180W it doesn't seem that it is.
I've configured the RV180W as a WDS Bridge with the ssid name, WPA2 key, and MAC of an AP hosting the guest wireless but it still doesn't seem to connect. I have a feeling I would need another WDS device for this to work, and that it will not connect to just any wireless network.
Our boss decides to purchase 1941w Router & he asked me to do the necessary configuration. my knowledge in CISCO router is a CCNA level & i've never configured an embedded AP or ADSL line on a router before.
the topology is as the following: as for the wired Network, we have one LAN (192.168.1.0/24) connected to GE0/0 (192.168.1.254/24) on router & has the ability to access the internet which is ADSL configured as ATM0/0/0
As for the wireless network ( now here is the problem) what i want is the following:
I want the wireless network to share the same network with the wired which means 192.168.1.0/24 i want to use WPA encryption how to configure the AP?!
this is a true challenge for me. After a lot of searching, most of the sample configuration over there is about creating two VLANS!!! & two DHCP Pool.
