View 8 RepliesI have some old 1231 APs in the school in which I work.I would like to create a local network (no LAN, no internet, just a point to point wifi connection) managed by the access point (in DHCP).That's because we have an apple TV connected to a projector and some ipads. My idea was to put the devices locally in the same closed network for share via AIR Mirror the ipads on the apple TV.

Wireless client connected to a 3602i AP running on 2500 series WLC with a latest 7.2 code. Client will now connect to AT&T vpn client - success.Client will connect to SAP application using netweaver gui - failed. With the same scenario, except for the access point being used, client will connect to SAP application using netweaver gui
1242AP IOS/CAPWAP - success
1252 CAPWAP - success
3500 CAPWAP - success
Whats with the 3600 series APs that i cant pass traffic with the SAP application?

Clean Air disabled - still failed

I have a customer with several older Aironet 1121G WAP's. In one area of the plant the noise levels from several large motors is preventing reliable connection to the WAP, even though it is located in the same conference room as the users. I am suggesting upgrading the 1121G to the 3502I to take advantage of the Clean Air technology. This raises two questions:
1) Will a single 3502I be able to effectively handle the RF noise, or does it require a network of WAPs to function properly?
2) Does the 3502I require the CT2504 controller for the Clean Air to work, or will it function in a stand alone mode?
when I did connect the AP to the switch and this is already connected to the WLAN 2500, I got this error message [code] And this AP is not joined to the WLAN 2500, but if I use one model of AP like LAP1120 it works, that mean, the wireless is able to see the Ip Address. How can I do to correct the problem with the AP 3600 series?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI can not get our 3602i AP's to register with our 5508 controller which is running 7.2.103.0 code. We keep seeing an error in the log on the WLC "AAA Authentication Failure for UserName:c46413c08e92 User Type: WLAN USER" and on the Access Point we are seeing [code]
I entered the CAPWAP ap controller ip address directly into the AP so it shouldn't be an option 43 DHCP issue
I have a couple 3600s that don't want to join. One i and one e that are both doing the something. It is able to find the controller via layer 3 discovery but it is acting like it is a mesh AP when it tries to join the controller.

From the 3602i
flash:/mesh_start_cfg.txt: No such file or directory. The filesystem containing the variables may not be initialized yet.
I should note that 3500 APs are able to join this controller. The field guy is going to try to add the MAC address to the filter list when he gets back out on site to see if it allows it to join.
Will i need another RFS6000 controller to run a single AP650 (isolated remote location) or it can be set in stand-alone mode ? I might consider install one antenna per location in 5 different store.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have couple of Cisco Aironet 3500 Series access points with the following P/N: "AIR-CAP3501E-A-K9", we have discovered that we need a wireless LAN controller to connect those new access points!, however, we do not have any wireless controller in our LAN.
We even tried to CLI through the console port but we could not set any static IP on it!, after reading on Cisco site we discover that this type of AP is called "Lightweight Access Point" LAP which handles all the management tasks to the controller!
So what shall we do! is it impossible to operate them without the controller?
When I check the AP join statistics I see the following: Reason For Last Unsuccessful Attempt RADIUS authorization is pending for the AP, I don't run a radius server and don't know how to get around this so that the device can join.
View 4 Replies View Relatedmy access point 1230 fail to join the controller. The image is C1200-k9w7-mx.123-8.JA2. I tried to reboot it but it does not join to controller. How do I initiate the discovery process again to make this AP to join? Should I convert it back to autonomous AP and then LWAPP process again? I can ping the AP from the controller and the AP is in the same VLAN with controller.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've recently purchased a 2504 Wireless controller, and I have 10 2600 APs to deploy. I think I've set up the wireless controller OK - there doesn't seem to be much that needs to be done! But I just can't seem to register an AP onto the system.
Just to briefly outline what I have done, I have connected to the Wireless Controller via terminal emulator and run through the setup, then I have connected OK to the web interface, and I am able to view and amend the controller's configuration. So I have setup a WLAN and thats about it.
Next up I have powered on one of my 2600 APs, and I am able to view it working via terminal emulator again. But I am seeing it continually running the same routine to connect to a controller, and all the time it just fails. Below is what I am seeing.
One thing that I am unsure about is that I am unable to connect to the AP config pages via web browser, using the IP 192.168.0.97 (although it does ping okay). Is that odd?
And the main question - why doesn't the AP connect to the wireless controller? Do the APs need to be authroized on the controller first? If I check the controller's web interface, under Monitor - Statistics - AP Join, I can see the AP listed with Status "Not Joined" but I don't know what I need to do to make it join!

I upgraded WCS to 7.0.22 and the WLC to 7.1.91.0 so that I could add four 3602i's. Funny thing is that they all work fine except that none of their LED's are 'lit' up. They look dead.
Is it the version of sofware?
We typically use the 2602 series AP in lightweight mode, however I have a scenario where we are going to be installing one with the stand-alone software. I understand that we will not be able to utilze certain features that you get with the WLC such as RRM, rogue detection, and clean air.
We do want to utilze both the 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ bands. In order to do this with the 2602 stand-alone AP, will we have to configure 2 separate SSID's? I really do not want to do this to if I do not have to to minimize confusion for clients.
On our conference floor, AP 1242AG already exist but I am going to add AP 3602i to increase wireless coverage. . Any issue or concern with this type of setting?

My primary document has been this deployment guide:url...I have also sifted through many of the relevant portions of these guides: url...
I went through the setup wizard and followed the instructions in Ch. 2 to the letter (or at least I think I did). I have DHCP options 43 and 60 configured per the 3600 series Getting Started Guide.I believe my AP discovery process is sound because I see activity when I power on the AP and perform debug capwap ap all from the WLC. I have highlighted lines that I think are relevant. I have attempted to find the answer on my own by searching the Internet for these phrases. [code]
I've been configuring hundreds of 3602i APs via Prime without incident, but I've encountered 2 APs that get to the ap: prompt and doesn't proceed further. If I type boot, then they'll complete the boot process.
How do I configure these 2 APs so they will automatically boot fully?
We are deploying a new office and exploring the options for WLAN deployment. We were pretty impressed with 3500 series APs and that it supports CleanAir.However, we have decided to go for standalone AP deployment model now. As 3500 does not work in standalone mode, so we are looking for APs that can work in standalone mode ( and later can be converted to lightweight if needed). We can go for 1140 in that case. However, it would be better for us to know the main differences between features supported by 3500 lightweight AP and 1140 standalone AP. CleanAir looks like the main one. Are there other important ones as well?

There is a section of a campus that is covered by 14 stand alone AP1131 were I experience the problem. The security parameters are: 802.1x, wpa enterprise, tkip
The other section is under WLC also AP1131 but in this case in WLANs/Scurity/Leyer 2 I checked boxes:
WPA Policy, WPA Encryption TKIP
WPA2 Policy, WPA2 Encryption AES
Auth Key Mgmt 802.1x
Wonder if the fact that I chose WPA2, AES makes a difference with stand alone mode? Anyways I tried configuring AES in stand alone APs and it didn't make a difference since I could not connect either.
