I have some old 1231 APs in the school in which I work.I would like to create a local network (no LAN, no internet, just a point to point wifi connection) managed by the access point (in DHCP).That's because we have an apple TV connected to a projector and some ipads. My idea was to put the devices locally in the same closed network for share via AIR Mirror the ipads on the apple TV.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm having little success migrating our older Aironet1231 to our new WLC 5508. The 1231 is currently registered as a LAP to a 4400 WLC and I'm in the process of moving away from this controller to the new one. I've pasted the output of the error messages I'm getting below. At this point, I'm stuck and not sure how to get around the "Failed to parse CAPWAP packet" error.
I'm getting these messages when I have:
debug pm pki enable
debug capwap errors enable
I initially got this error, but got passed it when I allowed SSC in the 5508 (Security -> AP Policies)
sshpmGetIssuerHandles: SSC is not allowed by config; bailing...
Now I'm getting these:

I have configure my AP with to SSID (11 & 12), but I cannot connect to 12. It authenticates, and while trying to acquire IP address from 12, it fails and connects me to 11 (if I have already saved the SSID connection).

The SSID 12 already have 4 clients connected, And I am tring to connect a 5th one (smart phone), but cannot connect to 12, instead coneected to 11. Also tried with a laptop, but cant get the IP address, and give Limited Connectivity error.
I have a (old) 1231 that I would like to reuse, but no one remembers the password. how to recover a password from this model AP or how to reset the device to factory default?

We were pretty impressed with 3500 series APs and that it supports CleanAir.However, we have decided to go for standalone AP deployment model now. As 3500 does not work in standalone mode, so we are looking for APs that can work in standalone mode ( and later can be converted to lightweight if needed). We can go for 1140 in that case. However, it would be better for us to know the main differences between features supported by 3500 lightweight AP and 1140 standalone AP. CleanAir looks like the main one. Are there other important ones as well?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two 1231G Aironet's that work correctly when I connect them to my Catalyst 3548XL and my 3550-48-XL switches. When I connect them to the 3550-24-PWR switch I do see them when I issue sh cdp nei det. It shows me the IP of the wireless router. But when I ping the Aironet, I do not get any replies. If I plug the Aironet into my 3548XL and ping the IP, I get 5 replies. Here is the port config on both switches:

I have one controller 2504 and some 1200 series access points.I am using 3 SSID .I want to use two ssid in HREAP mode but HREAP mode is not showinh in access point because multicast is enabled on AP mode. see the below picture
I have disabled the multicast globally from CLI. config network multicast global disabled
disabling the multicast so that i can set the access point in HREAP mode.
Will i need another RFS6000 controller to run a single AP650 (isolated remote location) or it can be set in stand-alone mode ? I might consider install one antenna per location in 5 different store.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an Aironet 1250 AIR-LAP1252AG-A-K9 I am having issues with, and I am hoping for some direction on how to resolve them. I understand this question has been posted many times many different ways, but i have no luck unfortunately. Here is where I am: I can terminal into the AP, which has been set to factory default, with the username and password and enable password of Cisco. Once I am in the enable mode, I get lost.
Usually there would be an option to go to config. t, and work from there, but this AP does not have that option, Actually if I do a ? at the enable prompt, the commands list only starts with the letter C; but none are config.
I also cannot get into the web interface of the AP. The AP gets a DHCP IP from my DHCP server, (192.1681.128/24) but I cannot get into the web interface using the IP it gets from DHCP. The page never comes up. To add to the confusion, I cannot turn off the CLI event logging, although I enter the command "no debug all". Maybe I am off on what to put in. Nonetheless, it drives me crazy with messages every two seconds as I am trying to type while attempting to figure things out.
Overall, from reading the forums and doing Google searches, I am going on the assumption that the AP is now in lightweight mode, as opposed to autonomous mode, which is where I want it to be. I have tried the method of updating the firmware to the autonomous firmware from Jan 2013 for the AP. I use the TFTP method as I have found here on the forums a few times; I hold the mode button down while applying power to the AP, let the system LED turn red and release the button so the TFTP process can go through, but nothing changes.
I have the AP powered from a gigabit POE switch. The computer I am using for the TFTP is on the same sub net as the AP. I have tried using 10.0.0.6/24 for the computer with the TFTP on it, made sure the view all file extensions option was checked, and renamed the firmware to the .default extension-still nothing updates.
I also noticed that once I hold the mode button down for 20-30 seconds then let it go, the CLI output says the AP it is on the 10.0.0.x sub net, but I cannot ping the computer with the TFTP program on it. If i try to, it get a "Command not supported" message. So I will go on the idea that this is most likely why I cannot do a TFTP update.
About 30 seconds after I release the mode button and the AP boots, it will say it has a 10.0.0.x IP address, then it starts going crazy with messages that it cannot find a DHCP server.
I'm using aironet 1210, 1130, 1100, 1040 autonomous mode, in a University campus network with thousands of daily user.We're using RADIUS authentication and AES/WPA2.In the past, there were some major issues with traffic (broadcast / multicast) in the wireless networks, that would spread all around the campus causing excessive processing at the access-points.To solve the problem we decided to implement access list at the radio interface to drop all the unwanted traffic. I'm pretty sure this is caused by the ACL (I've tested removing the ACL and the issue never occurred) but I can't just get ride of it.
Any alternative way to drop broadcasts?
I just received a Cisco Aironet 1130 AG wi-fi router to configure and when I entered the router through console, I am not able to get into config mode. It says:

I need to configure this device and set up for wi-fi access in my organisation network.
At work we have some older 1231 AG model access-points and a WLC with version 7.0. I was trying to convert them to lightweight and they will not join the controller without importing a .CSV file into the WLC. I cannot figure out to import that file, I cannot find any documentation on how to add the certificate with version 7.0.

I cant seem to get to the web interface of the AP to make config changes, even though it is picking up an IP via DHCP and it is pingable.
I have a customer with several older Aironet 1121G WAP's. In one area of the plant the noise levels from several large motors is preventing reliable connection to the WAP, even though it is located in the same conference room as the users. I am suggesting upgrading the 1121G to the 3502I to take advantage of the Clean Air technology. This raises two questions:
1) Will a single 3502I be able to effectively handle the RF noise, or does it require a network of WAPs to function properly?
2) Does the 3502I require the CT2504 controller for the Clean Air to work, or will it function in a stand alone mode?
I have four 1200 series AP. Part number of these AP's is AIR-AP1231G-A-K9. I am thinking to buy a new 2504 WLC with 5 AP licenses. Just wondering whether my AP's are compatible with WLC or not. These AP's are in close proxomity and start contending with each other if I configure the stand alone.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe typically use the 2602 series AP in lightweight mode, however I have a scenario where we are going to be installing one with the stand-alone software. I understand that we will not be able to utilze certain features that you get with the WLC such as RRM, rogue detection, and clean air.
We do want to utilze both the 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ bands. In order to do this with the 2602 stand-alone AP, will we have to configure 2 separate SSID's? I really do not want to do this to if I do not have to to minimize confusion for clients.
Converted a Cisco 1231 with the Update Tool to lightweight (used c1200-rcvk9w8-tar.124-21a.JA2.tar). It worked, but now the AP issn't joining the wlc: [code]

Their Primary WLAN controller is Cisco1 WLC but they fail to register to Primary WLC and fall back to Cisco2 WLC. After about 200 sec , they attempt to connect to Primary WLC once again and fail. The whole cycle is repeated every 250 seconds.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem where clients cannot roam between Cisco 1231g-e-k9 and recently installed cisco 1242g-e-k9 access points.. On looking at the CDP option on the 1231 and 1242 access points they are all aware of each other. However if I use the Network View option I see a different picture. All the 1231 access points can see each other but not see the 1242's. Network View on the1242 shows all the 1231's but none of the 1242's. The 1231 are running ver. 12.3(8)JEB and the 1242's are running ver. 12.4(21a)JA1.

I updated the AP to lightweighd firmware using upgrade tool. But upgrade tool generate the csv files empty so I had no idea about Hash key, so I resetted the APs to default values.
WLC still doesn't register them.
How Can I register the APs? The version of the WLC is 7.3.101.0
IPods and IPads to connect to stand alone AP1131? My scenario is as follows:
There is a section of a campus that is covered by 14 stand alone AP1131 were I experience the problem. The security parameters are: 802.1x, wpa enterprise, tkip
The other section is under WLC also AP1131 but in this case in WLANs/Scurity/Leyer 2 I checked boxes:
WPA Policy, WPA Encryption TKIP
WPA2 Policy, WPA2 Encryption AES
Auth Key Mgmt 802.1x
Wonder if the fact that I chose WPA2, AES makes a difference with stand alone mode? Anyways I tried configuring AES in stand alone APs and it didn't make a difference since I could not connect either.
Customer is interested in deploying the 3600 AP's but will not be able to replace all his 1231's, any chance there is a release between 7.0.220.0 and 7.1.91.0 that will support both AP's?

I have a cable modem but need to hook up 2-3 computers. I cant get internet through my d link router, but can still use it for home networking. I tried getiing into the d link with 192.168.2.1 but failed...resetting does nothing. I also have a westell 7500 dsl modem/router but it also fails to supply any comp with internet, although only my xp comp can access it. I can not get into the routers. Resetting does nothing.
