Just installed new W-8970 via centuryLink ADSL, connected two computers (hard wire) which work fine. I also have it connected by hard wire to my Direct T.V DVR Model HR 24 to run T.V app's such as Pandora music etc. It will only stay connected for 5-10 minutes then drops out, any suggestions other then buying a different brand modem/router.
I have a linksys wrt54g ethernet wired to my router. I got a wap54g and don't know a thing about either. I hooked up the wrt54g years ago with linksys assistance. I thought I could just hook up a wap54g with ethernet to the directv dvr and the two would talk.

I spoke with the DirecTV tech folks extensively about attempting this connection but I can’t make it happen and they are stating it is an issue with the router even though I have Wi-Fi throughout my house. I changed the password and deactivated all of the possible firewalls and still no connection.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using D-Link DIR-600 wireless router for two months with my ISP, SmartBro. A week ago my internet went down due to heavy rain and technical support had a home visit yesterday to re-activate my internet connection. My net connection came back smoothly using a direct connection from modem to laptop. When I tried to connect the modem to my wifi router, the internet was not detected. Even if I reset the router settings, no internet connection was detected. Initially, I thought there is a problem with my wifi router so I connected the modem to our Edimax wired router but still it could not detect internet access. Every time I open a browser while connected to a router, this message is shown (see attached screenshot).
I tried using another ISP, Wi-Tribe with both wired and wifi routers and everything worked well. So now I assume the problem lies with my SmartBro ISP. I called the ISP hotline but they told me that they do not provide support for router connection problems; only with single, direct connect to a PC.I asked a neighbor IT technician to look into my problem but he too could not solve the problem.
I'm desperately trying to set up my old D-Link DI-524 on my parent's Toshiba laptop...I'm visiting and going thru withdrawals! I've installed it, run the wizard etc but it doesn't work...not even wired. I've tried various cable configurations and I get nothing. Both cables are good and work just fine connected to the modem. I've reset it a few times, upgraded the firmware and still nothing...I'd think I'd at least get it to work hard wired. My laptop can see the network I set up even...but no data transmission. I'm not a wireless expert, but I need to become one fast!

Just got my new TL-WDR4300 router. Set it up last night with the latest firmware. I can connect to Internet using a wired cable. However, I can't connect to Internet via wifi. I already tried 2 laptops (Vista & Win XP) and 2 tablets - I can see my wifi signal, connect to it (with my password), even obtained IP address (from ipconfig). However, when I tried to open a web page (eg google), it can't connect to Internet (always got timeout or service not found). Again, same laptop has no problem if I use a cable to connect to my router.

Recently I bought TD-W8151N wireless adsl router, I have one desktop computer that connected to TD-W8151N via ethernet and wirelessly to one laptop, IP Addr: 192.168.1.4, Subnet 255.255.255.0 and Gateway: 192.168.1.1 : desktop (LAN connection IP Addr: 192.168.1.3, Subnet 255.255.255.0 and Gateway: 192.168.1.1 : laptop (wireless connection) but I can't ping each other and also can't access the share folders between them., both computers can access internet. Is there anything I missed the configuration setting of the router? Before I use wireless, I connected this 2 computers using cross-type utp cable, and working good.
I am currently using a DIR-655 for the home wireless network.DSL into a 2-Wire home portal (not wireless) and ethernet into the DIR-655.I need to connect a number of wired devices in a couple of different rooms. Some streaming HDTV content to other devices in other rooms. I'm thinking of the following:
-DIR-655 routing between the DSL subnet to the internet, the 2.4GHz wireless and a couple of wired devices.
-DAP-1522 routing between the 2.4GHz wireless, 5GHz wireless, and a few wired devices.
-DAP-1522 bridging between the 5GHz wireless and a few wired devices.
All devices will/may need internet access.HDTV content would be between wired devices and only over the 5GHz wireless (no HDTV to/from internet). Is the DAP-1522 the right device(s) for this?
I want to setup a hardwired connection between my Linksys E3000 router and a DIRECTV DVR. I have the most recent firmware on my router. I have checked the ethernet cable and it is good. The lights on the ethernet port on the DVR light up when I have the DRV and router connecter. The DVR gives me an error message when I try to connect. Some other posts have suggest setting a static IP on the DIRECTV DVR using the following settings:
IP Address : 192.168.1.10
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1
DNS : 192.168.1.1
I tried this and still get an error message so I am going to call DIRECTV. Before I do call I would like to know if these are the correct settings for a Static IP?
I have Verizon IP with a Westell 6100 Modem and a Linksys E2500 Adv Dual Band N Router, that seems to be having problem since hooking up our DirectV Cinema on Demand to it. It constantly drops the internet connection to BOTH the hard wired and wireless internet . The internet drops and returns every few seconds it makes connecting impossible. Any one have Manual connection instructions for this set up?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Vizio smart tv with built in wifi. I have Centurylink dsl service with a Westell 7500 gateway. All of my wifi devices, including my tv can access the internet appropriately. I also have a wii connected to my tv which can access the internet via wifi. My question is---is there anyway to setup an internet connection to my directv hd receiver using the wifi connection through my tv or wii? I really do not want to buy anymore equipment and I only have one phone line run with dsl service.

It worked perfectly, but when I returned home I found my laptop could no longer connect to the home network, it just says it cannot connect, but all the over devices in the house work. My laptop can still connect to the internet via an ethernet cable but this isnt practical at home. I've uninstalled the connectify program, and tried my best to make sure I got rid of all the stuff it's done, but still my problem persists

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using an orange livebox which has been pretty reliable in the past. My set up is livebox > homeplug > homeplug > linksys wireless router > into 2 pcs.Its odd because my pcs have trouble detecting the wireless router, however my laptop can link up no problems.I have plugged my laptop directly into the livebox via ethernet and it works fine so I can rule out the livebox. I've also swapped the cables and they all work ok.Basically, it does link up intermittently and runs perfectly, but then after a day, or even 10 minutes it disconnects and I have a nightmare getting it to work again. I went through the entire cable system and got right to the end and hey presto it all worked...so I plugged my pcs back in. Then after about 10 mins it lost the network connection and I couldnt even link up to the livebox router by keying in 192.168.1.1. The laptop CAN connect wirelessy and access the config pages.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a DIR-501 and wired it to my desktop. It runs great! (This DIR-601 board is the closest one I can find to DIR-501.)
After connecting the DIR-501, when coming out of hibernation or when booting up, my computer would hang, apparently after the desktop has already appeared (Win XP Home SP3). The first time this happened I got a BSOD with the following:
DIR-655 Firmware: 2.00NA (most recent) Hardware Version: B1 I am not getting Gigabit LAN wired. I am only averaging 25% of that, which means 256mbps or 32MBps. note the following:
- Router only connected to two computers (wired), wireless turned off
- Cable length does not exceed maximum specified length of 100 meters (328 feet). Neither does it exceed the usual maximum length of 100 feet. (both ends)
- Cable is CAT 5e (both ends) allowing Gigabit speeds
- NICs on both computer are able to run at Gigabit
- Both computers recognize the Gigabit connection speed
- Sustained Hard drive speeds are rated at 101.9MBps and 86.6MBps or 815.2mbps and 692.8mbps (therefore, connections should run at least 692.8mbps or 69% usage)
- Minimal programs were running in the background (in fact, almost nothing except for the OS itself)
- Windows 7 on both computers
- Later, I ran a streaming of a file and transferring files over the network, the speed still remained around 25% usage, which means there's isn't a cap of network usage per program. (is there usually a cap?)
Things I don't want to hear:
- Cat 5e doesn't support gigabit
- Check cable has 8 cables instead of 4 (it has
- CPU not good enough (it's plenty fast for copying files, quad and hex core)
- Not enough RAM (plenty of that too, I don't know how much role RAM plays in transferring files over the network)
I have a Sky broadband router downstairs which has wired and wireless links to workstations downstairs. I have a wired network upstairs in my study. I want to put a router into the study that will link wirelessly to the Sky router downstairs and link the wired workstations to the broadband.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Internet Connectivity problem which I believe was caused by resetting our D-Link WBR-2310 router. We have a strange, perhaps illogical network setup in our office. Although it was set up before my time, I have figured it works as follows:
(1) A wired/wireless router (let's call it Router A) is connected directly to the DSL modem.
(2) An Ethernet cord runs from this router to a 5 port switch.
(3) 4 cords run from the switch to individual workstations. These computers obtain their IP addresses automatically.
(4) 1 cord runs from the switch to another wired/wireless router (let's call it Router B).
(5) Two cords run from Router B to individual workstations (let's call them Workstations C). These computers used permanent IP, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server addresses. I understand that this was done because they could not obtain their IP addresses automatically.
The problem I've caused seems to stem from me resetting Router B to the factory settings while trying to secure its signal and changing its IP address from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 (in order to avoid conflict with the modem which has the same IP address). Once I did that, Workstations C could not access the Internet.
I have tinkered with the TCP/IP settings for Workstations C (e.g. by changing the default gateways to the Router B's new IP address), but it doesn't work. What else should I be doing?
Just upgrade from an old DIR-524 (or something like that) to a DIR-655. Set up was easy all is working good with the computers. |However, I plugged my HP Photosmart C5100 printer into the router (first slot). The computer seems to know it is there, and the printer seems to recognize the router, but it will not printer. Microsoft diagnostics says that the printer is not ON, and the printer is listed on Devices as Offline. The printer is about 5 years old, but it is a trooper and I don't want to to get rid of it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had my DIR-825 for a year and half. My computer that is wired directly to the router keeps losing the connection to the router - unable to obtain an address. All of my other devices (that are connected via wireless) still hold the connection with no issues. I've checked the cable, unplugged/plugged back into the router, and it shows connection on the network card on the back of the computer.I have used the system interface to ensure the address is a valid one. I have powered up and down the computer multiple times and have also powered down and up both the router and the cable modem.
View 1 Replies View Related1.) I don't have a wireless card in my PC, so I will be connecting wired to get WiFi via WAN and LAN ports, right? I have a Windows 7 32-bit desktop PC. We are working with a DSL modem residential line without phone line using a coaxial cable, and Ethernet cable from modem into the PC. provide step by step walk through instructions by connecting this D-link router to my modem and WiFi, and for me to use the WPA2 security?
2.) I have an iPhone 4 with Verizon. If I want to use my iPhone to get WiFi from the router, and turn off the Internet, and use WiFi only on my phone, how would this work?
I have two separate wired networks. Network 1 has a wireless router (an adsl modem). Router of the Network 2 is not wireless. Can I replace router of network 2 with DIR-600 to make a wireless connection between these two network segments ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI should start by saying I am no novice when it comes to networks but this router has been nothing but a issue since day one.
*The Setup - 2 wired PCS, 2 Wired Macs, 1 Wireless Iphone, 1 Wireless Ipad.
WPA2 Only / AES key, Channel 6, G/N only, Hidden SSID.
*The Problem - 95% of the time the wireless and wired is running fine. However, Sometimes randomly webpages on the computer will stop loading... but heres the kicker... other internet connected programs like Ventrilo, or torrents, or games will still be working and running from the net like there is no problem. When this happens the internet browsers on the macs and PCs will say page cannot be displayed instantly. Happens to all computers at the same time. After about 10min the webpages will load again. I have 16mbs internet and while this is happening my games and voice chat programs do not go up in ping at all.
I have turned off QoS since that made the most sence... but other then that I have no been able to figure it out. I even turned off wireless while it was happening and it still didnt fix it. A sure fire way to fix it is to restart the router.
I am 100% stumped. Do I just have a bad out of the box router? it is only 2 weeks old.
After 5 years of services my DIR-655 begun acting up yesterday; first of it begun by getting REALLY slow, it could take up to 25 seconds to login into the software and up to 30+ seconds just going from one menu to another, on some instances connection (wired) to the router was lost. This morning it started dropping all connections, wired or not; first my iphone then my WDTV, after that it's been pretty much random connections. On one given moment wired works but not wireless, then wireless works but not wired and sometimes I get both but for 3 or 4 minutes.I've reset the router to factory settings, plugged/unplugged, changed cables, network adapters on desktops and the problem persists.
