How To Change Ddwrt Dir-615 Client Bridge

Aug 3, 2011

I recently downloaded DDWRT to my DIR-615. I was trying to change my DIR-615 from a router to a client bridge but I was not able to get any internet connection on the device after I change the settings.

D-Link DIR615 With DD-WRT Client Bridge?

Jan 16, 2011

I recently discovered the dd-wrt world and am attempting to make a wireless adapter for my Xbox360 using a D-Link DIR615 rev C1 router I purchased and linking it to my home wireless network router (also a D-Link DIR615 but rev B2). I successfully loaded the dd-wrt firmware onto the C1 router and have attempted (multiple times) to set it up for use with my 360 following the instructions posted here at the dd-wrt wiki posting. However, after following the instructions to the letter I have been unsuccessful. After setting it up I can get the router (connected via ethernet to my laptop) to "connect" but it lists the connection as connected to a "unidentified network" with no network access.

DIR-655 Won't Acknowledge Existence Of Client Bridge

Jun 23, 2011

I've recently purchased a Buffalo WHR-HP-GN flashed with the latest version of DD-WRT with plans involving its use as a client bridge and I have had nothing but problems trying to get this thing connected to my wireless network in client bridge mode. The closest I've gotten to getting this thing connected to my network is by setting the Buffalo to 'G-Only' mode and setting the security to 'WPA2-Mixed' with 'TKIP-only' for the encryption, however I can only ping the D-link via my notebook and the DD-WRT web interface; no other devices nor the router can ping the laptop or the WHR (Neither of them are listed in the 'connected clients' page on the D-link's web interface). The Buffalo works brilliantly when pairing it with an old WRT54G that I've dug out of the closet and a friend's WZR-HP-300NH.

With the WHR-HP-GN, so far I have:

1. Flashed the Buffalo 'Professional' (really DD-WRT with their own branding) firmware to the latest DD-WRT release compatible with the router.

2. Flashed the firmware to the second newest release of DD-WRT.

3. Flashed the firmware back to stock, then to Buffalo's alpha release of their 'Professional' firmware, then to their 'User-Friendly' (read: proprietary) firmware.

4. Flashed the firmware back to the latest DD-WRT version.

5. Set the wireless properties to 'G-only', encryption to WPA2/WPA-PSK TKIP (the closest I've been to connecting this bridge to the network, though no other device including the DIR-655 can see the bridge or the laptop it's connected to).

6. Same as #5 except tweaking with different combinations of wireless modes, channel widths, and security + encryption schemes (WPA only, WPA2 only, TKIP or AES, no security).

With the DIR-655, so far I've tried

1. Power cycling it.

2. Flashing the firmware from 1.21 to the latest (I think 1.35NA).

3. Falling back to 'G-only' mode with various encryption schemes (including none).

4. Set it to 'N-only' with various encryption schemes.

5. Meddled with different channels and channel widths.

That's about it. I really don't think there's anything wrong with the WHR as it works great with different routers/APs. Maybe I've just experienced my first caveat with owning a router that was manufactured two years before 802.11n was ratified as a standard?

Cisco Wireless :: 1242 - Bridge Mode With Mobile-client Enabled

Sep 5, 2011

What kind of hardware are people using for mobile bridges? I have not had good luck with Cisco 1242's in bridge mode with mobile-client enabled. The only reason we're using the Cisco access point over standard industrial bridges is because we need to manually forward the mac addresses of the devices behind the bridge. These are being installed on robotic forklifts. They have a generic ethernet scrolling marquee installed that does not maintain any active connections and drops from the fowarding table in the bridge if not staticly configured. I'm looking for an alternative because the roaming is not nearly as smooth as it should be.

Cisco VPN :: 2900 ISR / Change VPN Client To Over TCP?

Nov 13, 2011

I have a 2900 ISR that my VPN clients connect to using IPSEC over UDP.  I am having periodic problems, especially with clients connecting through DSL, where they connect and immediately drop.  Sometimes this is resolved by users updating their home router firmware.  I'd like to issue a new client PCF file using IPSEC over TCP to see if that resolves the problems.

Can I have both running at once, and what do I need to add to the 2900 to enable this connectivty without breaking the existing clients?  If the test is successful, I will migrate all users to the new configuration.  This ISR is also used to support L2L connectivity for a handful of sites.

Cisco Routers :: 887VA Cannot Expect Client To Make Change Every-time

May 16, 2013

I have a curious issue on a customer site where the above components are installed. The issue being that the iPhones the users utilise cannot connect to the mail server via WiFi, they are forced to connect with their 3G connection. The core issue seems to be the 887VA, as when I've installed 'lesser' branded ADSL routers, the connection seems to be fine. The iPhones are set to access the mail server via the URL: mail.customer.com. Should I change this to the internal IP of the server 192.168.12.200, the mail connection works fine. However I cannot expect the client to make this change every time they arrive or leave the office. Presently I have them disable WiFi when on premises.

Home Network :: Linksys WRT54G With DDWRT Firmware / Network Goes Down Randomly

Aug 16, 2011

I have a crappy router/modem from comcast with two windows machines and a linux web server connected. I also have another router, a Linksys WRT54G with DDWRT firmware with WAN connected to the modem/router. The linux web server has a static IP, configured with /etc/network/interfaces The network goes down randomly. Disconnecting and rebooting the linux web server usually fixes it. It's possible that the WRT54G could be at fault as well. The problem is that I just don't have any information on what is happening on the network. (Well even if I had the information, I'm not sure I would know what to do with it) I installed wireshark, I figure I should just leave it running until the network goes down, then I can go through the packets and see if I see anything weird?
