Nov 15, 2011I just bought and received a Cat6 200ft Ethernet cable from Amazon, linkIt is going from a router to my PC and is not working. My old Ethernet cable works just fine from said router to PC. I do not know why this one is not working. I tested the cable out on my laptop and it works fine for that. I am not sure what info to post about my PC, but I am using an Asrock z68 Extreme3 Gen3 motherboard as my lan connector.

I have not tried the wire from the pc to the cable modem yet. The cable length is 72 meters.

Jul 2, 2012I am trying to upgrade the switches in one of the buildings to Gigabit HP ProCurve switches. Currently, this building has 3 wiring closets, and each closet has 2 Intel Standalone 460 switches (24 ports). We use them as simple Layer 2 Switches. Nothing fancy.We recently bought 3 48 port HP Procurve Gigabit switches.I was planning on going in and swapping the 2 Intel Switches out with the HP Procurve Switches. The first closet went fine, and we had immediate connectivity (servers, Internet, etc.). However, when I went to the second closet I found that I could not connectivity back to the first closet.I then noticed the patch cable going from Closet A to Closet B is terminated with a female connection on both end. And then a patch cable is connected from the end, to the switch at both sites. I have never seen this before. And I hope I am making sense. Why would this method work with the old Intel switches (that are close to 10 years old) and not with the HP?

Mar 4, 2011I'm trying to open some ports for my webserver, I've configured the static IP and forwarded port 80 to my server's IP and I checked the port on canyouseeme.org and it says it's closed. I've tried multiple ports (21, 22, 7878 whatever) and all do the same thing.
So my next step was to try DMZ on the server's IP .. still no happiness .. ports stay closed. I checked this on multiple computers and it still won't open any ports for any machines on my network.
Updated to the latest firmware .. didn't make a difference. My ISP doesn't block any ports (didn't have any issues on my old router.

Dec 22, 2011I have a Linksys x2000 and have been using it successfully on DSL with a local ISP. I recently changed to Century Link and now I can't connect to the internet (Century Link). If I change the UserId and Password from my Century Link values back to my old ISP values, I can connect to my old ISP. Century Link tells me they have my account active with the X2000 and Century Link.
