Aug 1, 2011I have a bluray player that I want to get internet to that is downstairs. I would like to use my old Linksys WRT54g ver 2 router to do this. I just put DD-WRT firmware on it. I have a Linksys E1000 as my primary router. All I want to do is be able to to put the Secondary router (WRT54G) downstairs near the bluray player and run an ethernet cable from the lan port on the router to the ethernet port on the bluray player to get internet access. What is the best way to do this? Client bridge or Client mode?

Aug 29, 2011I have an SMCD3GN (from Rogers) that is both a Modem and a Router. I also have a Linksys WRT54G router that I used to use before. The SMC is giving me a lot of problems. The connection is really bad often and my internet speed drops for no reason all of a sudden. I'm getting fed up and want my old router back.
I know it's possible to change the SMC into a modem (put it in bridge mode) and then connect my router and use the Linksys router instead of the SMC. The problem is, I don't know exactly how to set it up and would really like an explanation. I already know how to get into the SMC and Linksys settings as an admin.
Linksys Access Point :: Bridge Wrt54G To WAP54G?
Mar 28, 2011According to the information on the bottom of the WAP54G setup screen it can connect to the WRT54G without another WAP54G. What I want to do is use the WAP54G as a bridge to connect my DVD player with an Ethernet connection to the internet via the WRT54G. Both units have the latest firmware updates. When I set it up as I believe it should be the WAP54G has all the lights on but the DVD player cannot connect to the internet.

I've configured the RV180W as a WDS Bridge with the ssid name, WPA2 key, and MAC of an AP hosting the guest wireless but it still doesn't seem to connect. I have a feeling I would need another WDS device for this to work, and that it will not connect to just any wireless network.

So basically I have a C877 and a Cisco ASA 5505 and I want to push the public IP of the ISP to the outside interface of the ASA so the Cisco 877 will only be responsible for ADSL and PPPoA. Don't ask me why I don' t use a modem/router instead. I know that is a waste to use the C877 in this way but I want to test the setup.

Nov 21, 2011I have a pair of Aironet 1310's I am needing to bridge. I have used the CLI to configure the BVI1 with the ip address and verified it. I then tried to access the GUI to configure the device via Internet Explorer and it would not provide access. I read that it had to be older versions of IE but my OS will not support older versions. I then downloaded Netsace Navigator 7.01 as indicated, but still did not get access.

I would like to connect the "Internet" port of the E2500 to one of the Belkin's 4 ports, in order to use the E2500 for wireless internet access without using any of the 4 wired ports but I think this creates a NAT within an existing NAT network?Â

To avoid that if I configure the E2500 in wired bridge mode, it becomes transparent, and I can no longer access its administration interface using the address 192.168.1.1 (since that address belongs to the Belkin). How may I, for example, change the wireless password which the E2500 is in wired bridge mode?

In order to isolate myself from my roomates and to protect my network connection, both wired and WiFi, I would like to plug in the Ethernet cable I get from the Gateway to my router, and then configure my router's firewall and WiFi enctryption to maximize my safety.

However, I am having some problems. I have already configured the router as "router" and not "Gateway" and I am trying to assign it an IP address different from the default one, which is the one the gateway has, and a ranger of DHCP IP's, also different from those of the Gateway. In other words, 192.1681.N.1 for the router and start from there.
