I have a wired connection (on-systemboard network interface) to a Belkin 54g router, but the router is not physically connected to the internet (no ethernet cable out to a cable modem/whatever). The router connects several necessary peripherals - mostly wirelessly to the main PC and another W7 PC.) All this stuff worked prior to a move to a new location.
There is freely accessible Wifi in range (public library - wherein I could concievably carry the whole PC and use their WiFi with their blessing).
I attached a USB Wifi adapter to the PC to avail myself of the free service, but W7 will not allow the Wifi adapter to be seen until I detach the ethernet wire. Then it will allow me to see the available network, and connect.
How does W7 (or the system board) look at network? Are they (onboard NIC and USB) mutually exclusive? Do I need a separate ethernet adapter card or a separate USB adapter card to create a different "channel" that would allow the two networks to coexist?
I have a Linksys WRT54GS2 router, a PC (Windows XP) and a laptop (Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit).I have been using this router for 3 months. I was able to use the internet on both devices simultaneously until now. But suddenly since yesterday it only works for one device at a time, not both.
If I connect to the router then I can access the internet only from the laptop. To use the internet from the PC, I have to power off the router, type in run "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt", and restart the PC. But as the router is off, the internet is inaccessible on the laptop.
While router is on, the PC shows limited or no connectivity.
I tried reseting the router 2-3 times.
On the laptop it sometimes shows "IP address conflict has been detected", even though the IP addresses of the devices were not the same. The IP address of the PC shows 169.X.X.X (when the router is on), whereas the ISP's IP addresses start with 124.X.X.X.

I don't use the server but once a month anymore because there is some old software that I need to keep on it. I also don't want to use the server for internet access anymore. I just use a wireless adapter on the client machine for internet connection. My problem is that I can either use my wireless adaptor for internet access or connect to my server. I can't do both at the same time (I get the "multiple networks red x") and no internet access.

After installing the drivers through the disc, I ended up getting he BSOD, and my PC just kept on restarting automatically. I fixed that problem, and found out that I should install the drivers for it through their website instead. So, after restarting my PC yet again, I tried using the Internet (Chrome) and found out that I have no Internet connection. Now, I am writing this on my iPad using the same router and modem that my PC is supposed to be using, but I keep on checking my WLAN adapter and it says that it is Not Connected. Now I have tried every forum, every post, EVERYTHING related to this problem and not a single thing fixes it. Also, when I do the ipconfig, everything says Media Disconnected and that's it. PS, I tried unplugging/plugging back in my modem and router PPS, Is it possible that when installing my new gcard and psu that I may have messed up with something internally?

Got the 25/5 line and when I perform the speed tests I get well above that with the speed boost on the lines.When I am downloading large files I am getting a constant 22-25 down and when I am uploading files I get the 5 up.... But I can't do both at the same time.What happens if my uploads kill my download speed so if I am uploading a file and taking up my 5 up it makes my download speeds about 2-3.. Comcast is saying that this is how the network works and I just don't want to accept that at this time as I have other internet providers that don't work this way and I get a true up/down at the same time. Unfortunately at this location that I am dealing with Comcast is the only choice.

Ok heres the problem i was using this setup to connect to my neighbores wireless internet with no problems for about 2 weeks(yes they know and are fine with me using it). But within the past week (actually all of a sudden it wont work) my program that came with the adapter shows alot of networks with full signals but when i connect to any of them it shows connected but wont actually bring up the internet. When i click on i.e. It says i.e. Cannot display the webpage. And if it actually does take me to google it will disconnect for no reason and reconnect to a random network thats available. my neighbors connection i was using just all of a sudden quit working and if i try to connect to it , it says cannot connect to frontier87. Also the other networks that show up sometimes will say the settings saved on this computer for this network dont match the requirements of the network, but sometimes the same network will connect but wont actually bring up the internet. I guess i just want to know what has changed to make me not be able to use a network that worked fine for me last week.

I've a Dell studio 1555, windows home premium, 4 gb ram, 320gb hdd. But still it won't connect to the network. i've been searching in the internet for solution but couldn't find it. In a couple of tech forums people posted same problem for Dell studio 1555. But there is no solution. I think it has something to do with this model? I tried removing the drivers and then rebooted the system. The drivers were then automatically installed by the windows again. For the past week, I've been looking to implement wireless technology at our educational site. We've conducted some tests with an AP1200 and we were satisfied with the performances of 802.11a standards.
Since one of our requirements is bandwidth, we are looking to implement a 802.11g standard for that need. Unfortunately, Cisco does not offer any client access adapter for that 11g standard as opposed of the competition. What kind of client adapter (PCMCIA) can Cisco recommend to work with AP1200 under the 802.11g ?

I have a usb adapter that i used to use with another computer to get internet access. now i dont have that computer but when i plug the usb adapter into my new computer it can get internet access. HOWEVER, the new computer loses connection a lot and is mighty slow sometimes. It is not that far away from the other computer. on different levels but close. I think i might have installed it wrong. what is the correct way to connect to the internet using a usb adapter to connect with a computer that gets internet connection directly? or how do i make this connection stronger/better?

I thought I could make it wireless to my router using the Linksys Wireless USB adapter WUSB54GC USB Stick. It has installed with no problem and connects to the router with no problem but it will not connect to the internet. It just says internet cannot be found. View 7 Replies View RelatedI've tried so many settings I cant even remember where i left off but one general question, troubleshoot to the next step with the wga54g; sometimes the connection shows 'acquring address' but never connects. I've fiddled with things so that i can get the GA to acquire an address but the internet comes through. Also the GA never shows up on the client table. So is the fact that i can get a network address a good thing or doesn't that necessarily mean i'm 'connected' to the network. Its frustrating to have the G light lite up yet no connection also at one point I did get the GA to show up in the client table when it was directly connected to the linksys 1200 but when i walked into the room and attached it to the PC, no dice I've turned off all firewalls temporarily and the 1200 is set on wpa/wp2 mixed. when i tried setting it just to wpa i got a warning then I lost my internet. I had to reinstall the 1200 again.

For Internet I use Xfinity Wifi and connect wirelessly. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 300Mbps PCI wireless LAN network card which I installed in my PC and until today I was connected to my Sky router wirelessly. I also have a wireless Brother all in one connected to the same PCI card.
The engineer who installed my Sky fibre broadband told me in order to achieve maximum speeds I should connect via an ethernet cable to my Sky router as wireless could be a lot slower so I bought one and connected up and disabled the wirelss card. All good so far until I noticed my Brother all in one was complaining about no network ID.
My problem is that I can't seem to run my printer wirelessly as well as run my broadband wired. If I enable the wireless adapter the printer works but my broadband is wireless as well and the wired connection is disabled.
