I installed virtual pc 2007 that has winXP and my host is Windows vista. I was able to make my virtual pc to connect to host internet using NAT for adapter 1 long time ago without any problems but it is not working anymore since last month! Although it works when I try it on another host. I believe the problem is in my host so what to check excatly in my host.

Recently I had to reinstall XP and since then have not been able to connect to my works wireless/wired internet most of the time. I have no trouble connecting to my wireless at home or basically anywhere else except work. Once in a rare while it will connect to work but if it's wireless it's low connectivity and if it's wired it's prone to just drop out again randomly. Everyone else at work is able to connect wirelessly/wired without issue. I've tried static IP and changing my MAC addressThere are some unsecured wireless networks in range that I can connect to but don't want to for work transactions.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use the Windows7 Virutal WIFI when traveling abroad to give my Iphone an internet connection in my hotel.I've had zero issues until this week. The WIFI connection is still showing up on my iphone, but I no longer get internet access (I only get an IP and subnet on the iphone now, no router or DNS info). The issue began (coincidence or not) as my MagicJack downloaded and installed a software update. MagicJack support says they aren't the issue. I experimented with created an Ad-Hoc network...no change. I've removed and reinstalled the wireless card and driver. No change. I suspect some corruption with ICS, but haven't found any solutions online to fix it.

Running a Windows 7 laptop plugged into a LAN using ethernet cable with internet.The built-in wireless nic on the laptop connects to a totally different internet network. I set up an XP Mode Virtual PC on the laptop with the intention that it would use the wireless internet connection.I set this up by installing Microsoft Loopback Adapter, then sharing the wireless nic to it. The Virtual PC is set to use the Microsoft Loopback Adapter as its network connection.My problem is that only the hard wired internet connection works.The wireless is connected and has an ip address, however no traffic flows through it until i either disable the cabled network or physcially unplug the cable. Is it possible to have my host laptop use the cabled internet connection and my virtual pc use the 2nd wireless internet?

So I'm trying to set up my computer to act as a virtual router so I can connect another device to the network.I can successfully create the network but it doesn't seem to be sharing my internet. I believe the problem may be that on the sharing tab for the initial internet connection there is no drop down menu like the one below.

I have had a WRT54G V3 router working successfully for a number of years now with a couple wireless PCs through a cable modem with Comcast as my ISP. All of a sudden yesterday, neither PC could access the internet. No changes had been made to the router.
I contacted Comcast and they of course had me hard-wire one of my PCs into the cable modem. That worked and I was able to access the internet. However, when I tried to put the router back in place (in either a wired or wireless fashion), I could not access the internet.
I've tried following the online Linksys troubleshooting document ion. The lights that should be lit on the router are lit. I can access the router setup web page which shows the settings still intact. I've tried going through the power sequencing to no avail. Comcast says my router is the culprit of my problem, but I don't know why it would all of a sudden stop working. My wireless printer still works so it detects a signal and my PC shows it's connected, but no internet access is possible.
What do I need to do? Are there any other diagnostic tools available? I'm out-of-warranty.
We have purchased LMS 4.0 -300 and were wondering how well the software will perform on a Virtual Enviornment.

I found that if the WAG320N remain "on" during the night the day after will no longer work. It need to stay "off" for one day and than is starting to work again till another working's night! Why?

I'm trying to fix the network at a student housing building and the system is kind of a mess. We bought a new E4200 to replace our old Linksys router which no one knows the admin pw to. We have four switches for 50 connections throughout the four story house and when switching the connections over to the new E4200 all of the wired connections no longer work. Switch back to the old router and presto. How do I need to change the settings with the E4200 to get it to work?
Also, as it's a thick old house the E4200's wireless only covers maybe half of it...I purchased two wireless repeaters to put on the 3rd and 4th floors, are these simple to install with the router?
We have been using a dhcp and tftp server to automatically configure branch WAN routers such as 1751's and 1841's for years but, have recently purchased a 1921 and 1941 as possible next generation replacements. The problem is when the 1900 series power up instead of getting a dhcp address directions to the tftp server it boots up and asks for the user name to be immediately changed or you will be "locked out". Any workaround to this so that I can again go back to download my common configuration? Or any other way of automatically configuring the newer version ios? Doing extra steps for 500 WAN branch routers is time consuming. Doing configurations without automation for that many is moving in the wrong direction.

Anyways, every time when I start up my computer and sign into my screen the internet connection does not seem to work right away. I thought first this was a problem with Google Chrome but then I tried other applications and it is the same thing. It takes about 30 seconds before I can get internet connection to do anything online even though down at the bottom right it says I am connected to the internet. The rest of the time I'm using the computer it's perfectly fine. It's only when I first start up the computer and sign into my screen. I don't know what's the problem so I'm hoping I can get an answer here from somebody.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust bought a new Cisco e1200 router last week. When i first hooked it up, it was giving me extremely low (significantly lower than my old router) downloading speeds. After switching the networking mode from "mixed' to "Wireless-G only", the speeds went back to normal. I tried "Wireless-N only", but it didn't work after that. Seemingly, my computer does not work with Wirless-N?
It's been running okay now, but 2 things happen occasionally: When playing a game, I experience lag for a period of 5 minutes, or sometimes 20 minutes. It goes away on its own. Never happened with my old router. When surfing the internet, pages will refuse to load. The connection bars shown at the bottom right hand corner of my computer display a yellow triangle with an exclamation point. This goes away on its own after about 4-5 minutes. These problems come randomly every 3-4 or days, maybe a bit longer.
My host has an IP of 20.168.1.2 from a router DHCP. I have a virtual environment which has a DC and DNS and the IP is: 192.168.1.x how can I get access from my host to the virtual environment? What do I need to setup on the host OS? (Windows)

I also use dlinkddns.com and my router's public IP is mapped as abc.dlinkddns.com.
In the router Virtual Server section, it is configured as:
Public Port: 3389 (for Remote Desktop)
Private Port: 3389
IP Address: 192.168.1.2 (server's IP)
I am expecting this to allow the client to access the server via windows Remote Desktop.
The current situation is:
- When wireless is on, the client can access the server's Remote Desktop
- When wireless is off and client is connected by wired Ethernet, the client cannot connect to the server's remote desktop. After timeout, the error msg is "Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons: ...".
- When the client is in another network, it can connect to the server through the Internet.
I am sure it's not the client's problem because it can access via wireless or remotely from another network. It's not the router's virtual server config problem for the same reasons. Will it be a bug in the router? (hardware version: B1, firmware version: 2.00NA).
I was trying to learn a bit more about routers and therefore tried to acces one of our routers using an external ADSL line at work.The router is a ZYxel Prestige 324. Since I did not have the password I performed a hard reset.Now when I try to acces any website I receive error 105 ERR_ NAME_ NOT_RESOLVEDThe only difference that I can see now is that there is no longer a connection specific DNS suffix assigned.Could this be the issue? View 3 Replies View RelatedFor other three years, me and my brother have both been connected to our router via ethernet cables. On this Tuesday just gone, however, my brother took it upon himself to mess with the router whilst I was out. Apparently, his internet had been down since we'd had a power-cut on the Sunday, (My internet was fine, and always has been and was fully functional after said power-cut), and before then, it'd been going really slow, and sometimes cutting out. Okay, no problem. Now, the the thing is, that morning, I was on my internet, all happy, and when I returned home that evening, my PC wouldn't connect. My PC still refuses to connect, three days on. It's not even picking up that there's something plugged in.the router is actually flashing to say that my PC is plugged in and connected to the router. I know that there is nothing wrong with the modem or what have you, as I linked my laptop up to my PC via a cable earlier today to try and get it online. It's not a virus program problem, either. Like I said, it was working Tuesday morning, nine hours later, I come home, my brother restarted/unplugged the router, and now my PC won't connect. I should also note that he's now had to go wireless via a dongle, and everyone else in the house uses wireless laptops. I can't connect my PC to the internet with a dongle

We are experimenting with virtual machines running on some laptops here as part of a future deployment.Equipment in use:

The actual operating system has no issues connecting to the wireless. When you start the virtual machine on any client machine (OSX, Win 7, Win XP, anything) it is unable to get an IP through an external DHCP server when the VM is set up to use a bridged connection.This works fine with Autonomous access points and over cable all mapped to the same VLAN. Helper addresses are configured on the VLAN.Is this a limitation of the WLC where it cannot provide more than one IP address per MAC? Is it a limitation of CAPWAP? Or is there an option to turn of DHCP snooping (which I suspect to be the cause of the issue)?
I have a Cisco ASA 5510 (with an AnyConnect Mobile License enabled) I used to be able to connect to the VPN using the AnyConnect app for Android form the Google App store (the phone is a Samsung Galaxy S II LTE, if that matters). Like I said everything used to work fine until a few weeks ago, the only change I made to the router was giving it a different external IP address (I changed ISP), I'm pretty sure it worked after that. But now when I try to connect with my Android I get this error: "Clientless (browser) SSL VPN access is not allowed".

Now my PC which is plugged into the router still works fine, I'm just not able to connect wirelessly anymore. I've tried the basic things like unplugging and rebooting, nothing changes. Last night on the xbox 360 i was suddenly experiencing alot of lag on other peoples voices. i took no notice of it and the next day i went on my laptop and alot of websites wouldn't load properly.i can go on google,obviously this and my hotmail(after having to wait a long time for the hotmail to load), but others such as ebay will not load. I cannot even access my router settings by typing in my ip address, instead i get a message saying the page cannot be found. also i was disconnected from xbox live with the internet to xbox live part not working. Obviously the first thing i done was turn the router off and back on but it hasn't made any difference.

View 11 Replies View RelatedMy DIR-655 has been working flawlessly for several months since I bought it. It is connected to Road Runner High Speed Internet from Time Warner. This morning it will not access the Internet. It shows a wireless connection, and I can connect to it via direct wired connection, but no Internet. A direct connection to the Time Warner Cable Modem connects to the Internet just fine. Cycled power on all units, & Time Warner reset the modem. Nothing has fixed the Router.
