Why Can't Get On The Internet Through D-link Dir 615 Router
Jan 24, 2012
getting a connection to my Broadband Internet through my D-Link wireless dir615 router. Did the internet wizard, wireless wizard and when it comes down to saving my specs on Network settings, I get a message saying Lan subnet conflicts with WAN subnet.
I have done a search for this problem but cannot find the right answers. I had a DL-524 which has worked great, suddenly stopped working..I thought it was my dsl modem causing the problem got a new one still did not work. So bought new DL 615 and that will not work. I can get onto the internet when I plug modem directly into pc but when I plug into router it will not go through..I have tried all the suggestions that have been given to me by tech support the one I have not been able to do is firmware update, i have the update downloaded but cannot get onto the site to actually get it to the router.
I have a D-Link DIR-615 router and can't get the internet working and have done everything possible to get it working. the globe light which is the internet light will not turn from amber to green. I have done a factory reset which is why this occurred in the first place. After the reset the globe stayed orange and the internet refused to work now everything is up but the wireless will not work nor the internet I have gone through both the manual set up and set up wizard and tried all options.
I am using wireless internet via D link router.I am connected to the router but there is no access to the internet. There is a small yellow triangle appearing on the wireless Network icon at the right bottom corner of my laptop.I can browse and download but I am getting the message that no internet access.
I have a D-link DIR-655 router which used to be able to connect to the internet fine through my modem. However, it wasn't connecting to the internet when I woke up this morning. I tried all the standard replacing the cables, powercycling the router, modem, and rebooting the PC. After trying all that, I used the reset button on the router and reconfigured manually by entering the IP into my browser and logging in that way, but still nothing. I can connect to the internet by plugging the modem directly into my PC, but connecting through the router or wirelessly doesn't work. I can connect to the network itself through the router, and wireless from my laptop, but it only has local access.
Here's the ipconfig going through the router:

I bought a Dlink Dir-601, I was able to connect to the internet when we were with our last internet provider but after we switched companies it no longer connects to the internet. I've tried power cycling my system, updating the firmware, factory defaulting it, resetting it with the button on the back but no luck yet
I've been happily using my DIR-655 for over 6 months now without any problems. Last night, wireless internet was working great but today it has stopped working. I plugged my modem directly into my computer and the internet worked fine, so it does not appear to be the modem. I also tried hard connecting my computer to the router (modem connected to router) but that didn't work. One sign of trouble is that the "globe" LED on the front of the router is slowly blinking orange (it had been blinking blue since I got it). I CAN access my WAN and I CAN access the router wireless but I CANNOT access the internet wireless. Here is what I tried, all without any success:
-Rebooting the router -Turned off wireless encryption -Checked firmware (current) -Ensured my PPPoE IP address was correct -Reset router to factory settings and recreated my WAN
had this same problem last year and by a fluke i was connected to the internet so my wireless printer could access web services but one of my computers connected to the router kept disconnecting from the internet so i had to change the settings now i want to try to get the router connected to the internet again. my wireless network has no internet access so i know the router isnt connected to the internet but i am online right now through the router. My ISP is AOL Canada. I also had a message on the computer saying that the DNS server isn't responding. Also my internet has no network access. Also i had the router set for DHCP NOT PPPoE or whatever its called. also what DNS should i put for the setting or do I need to put that on router setup page for the internet. Also is there any way of stopping the other computer from disconnecting from the internet once i get the router connected to the internet? One more thing on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen where the wireless icon is theres a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in over it how do i get rid of that when i had the router connected to the internet last year the yellow triangle was gone. And right now on the network map its showing an x through the line going from the router to the internet which i know means theres no internet from the router.
My new DIR-601 router has been installed and configured but will not connect to the internet either wireless or through a wired connection. Have reset and re-installed, have rebooted router, modem and computer all with no change. Connection is DSL (AT&T) and works fine when connected to either desktop or laptop computer at home. AT&T says to contact manufacturer, D-LINK says to contact ISP. After nearly two months without our wireless (XBOX and Netflix) we are about ready to return this before return period is up and just go with Clear.
Im using a Tp-link wireless router and I have a modem attached to my pc. I just noticed that if I turn off my router, the Ethernet light on my modem turns off, but the power and dsl lights are still on. Is there a way for me to use my pc even if my router is turned off? If I remember right, i've tried it before and it worked... But now, I have to turn on my router just for me to be able to connect to the net on my pc.
I have been using my D-Link Wireless G Router for more than one year now and haven't met any connection problem with it until a month ago. I can no longer access the internet when the Internet cable is plugged in the router. I can access the net when the cable is plugged directly to our desktop. I bought a new router which is TP-Link TL-WR470N but the results are still the same. I tried configuring both routers using DHCP and Static IP settings but nothing changes. Power Cycling doesn't change anything. Renewing the IP, resetting WINSOCK and DNS makes no progress for me.
Here are details of my system:
OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 3, 32 bit Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) Dual Core Processor 5050e, x86 Family 15 Model 107 Stepping 2 Processor Count: 2 RAM: 1790 Mb Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430, 512 Mb Hard Drives: C: Total - 152617 MB, Free - 132217 MB; D: Total - 152617 MB, Free - 152481 MB; Motherboard: eMachines, WMCP61M
I have a D-Link DGL-4500 Wireless N Gaming Router. If I create a mobile hotspot with my BB Bold 9900, can I somehow get my router to connect to it so I can provide bandwidth to my Ethernet dependent network devices?
I am having a problem in setting up my Router. Its "TP-LINK WR 720N". I have a LAN connection in the main PC and a further dialer like thing with user name and password is executed to access the internet. Each of the customers have diff IDs and passwords based on the bandwidth of the connection. The problem is that first am i connecting the Router in the right way? I put the main LAN cable into the Router's WAN port and the Other Ethernet wire i put is that from PC's Lan port to Router's LAn port. Is this right? I am confused because in the guide a modem is also mentined and i think thats for DSL users...
If i use the above settings, my LAN gets connected and the dialer also works and gets connected but when i access the internet from it, that doesn't work and no webpage opens.
Similarly, the Wireless connetion is displayed in the Laptop and when i access it, it gets connected, but it has a yellow exclamation mark in it, and the same goes here that the internet does not work. My internet connection id fine because i am sing internet no using main Lan ports of Pc, so i guess the problem i s with my Settings...
I don't know where to begin but I have about 4 land lines to the router, and 2-3 wireless computers. But what I notice is that the internet connection is very slow and things drop. My downloads would be incomplete, and streaming is terribly slow. My torrent downloads will always reset. Simply put, this type of internet connection is terrible.
Okay i just got the DIR-615 N Router and at first i was getting 40 ping on speedtest.net but now I'm getting 360 ping which is really frustrating since i upgraded because my old one was having troubles and also when i get to the check connection in the setup i am getting Your new router does not appear to be connected properly.
Background: This weekend, I lost my internet connection at home. I called my ISP and they sent someone over. The guy rewired the entire house (our ISP is also our tv cable provider), because he felt that our signal was probably weak due to the wiring. Long story short, after two hours of rewiring and fixing the cable outside out house (chewed through by a squirrel), he said the modem's signal was back to normal and left.
When I plugged the router; however, it refused to hold the internet connection for more than a few seconds. On the front panel, the planet-shaped light turned orange, then blue (for a few seconds) and then turned off entirely. I tried another few times and got the same result. At best, it stayed connected for a minute, until I rebooted my computer. The laptops in our house do read the presence of the router, so it's safe to assume that the problem lies with the router's capacity to receive the signal.
I've had my DIR 615 router for quite some time. The hardware version is C1, firmware 3.01 originally. It's been fine for the most part (asides from connection issues now and then with the internet - which we rectified by unplugging modem and/or router). A couple nights ago we had a storm and the next morning the router would not connect to the internet. I tried unplugging the router and modem a number of times but could never establish a connection. The internet globe LED was originally orange but after I cut off the power, it never came back on. I tried a number of different cables between the modem and router and could not fix the issue. I bypassed the router totally and the internet works fine. After a lot of failed attempts, I decided to reset the router and reinstall it with the disc. I followed the instructions and kept getting error 322 that the router could not be found. I tried 3 different computers and 5 different wires to fix the problem but to no avail. I kept encountering the same error on each computer. Since the router can't be seen, I must bypass it totally to get any internet access so trying the online setup doesn't work because I can't connect to the router and then to the modem since there is no internet access. So now I'm stuck. I'm not sure if my router is damaged from the storm. All other lights work (LAN and wireless icon) but I can't get any internet access through the router. I'm not sure if I should just go buy another router or not. The installation checks out fine until connecting power to the router and then it can't be found.
I am running windows 7 and vista on different computers and laptops and used setup 4.1.7141.2
Yesterday we had a very brief power outage and until then everything worked fine. Small business that runs modem - router - switch. Since the power outage I can only get internet if I run straight into the modem. As soon as I run from the modem to any (tried 3 different ones) router I lose internet. I get a wireless signal on my router. I've reset the router to default settings. I've plugged in another router to the modem to check and I don't get anything from that router either (which was not plugged in during the power outage).
I recently purchased a new Dlink DIR-655 router. My motivation was a router with a USB port. I initially purchased a DIR-632. I have 1 desktop without a wireless card so it connects to router thru ethernet cable. I have 2 personal laptops with wireless cards and 1 work computer also with wireless card. With the DIR-632 all computers would connect to router, but my work computer (Dell) would connect but then intermittenly show no internet connection. All other computers had no issues connecting to internet ( wired and wireless) The Dell would connect and have internet connection if I used a wired connection. After talking to DLink Tech support they said that i had an issue with the Dell. I called Dell and they walked me thru several things. Nothing worked. They ultimately sent in a tech who replaced wireless adapter and did a diagnosis before leaving and the Dell was deemed to be in perfect working order. I tried connecting again after Dell's repairs and same issue. DlinK Tech support then said the issue was with router and suggested replacing router. Went back to place of purchase and obtained the DIR-655. Got home and exactly the same issue. Again on the horn with Tech support and issue was determined to be bad router. Went back to place of purchase and got another DIR-655. Got home tried new router same issue. Spent in excess of 4 hrs on the phone with level 3 tech support. We tried many, many possible fixes and it appeared as if we had the problem fixed, but within a hour of hanging up with tech support the issue was unchanged.
As the Dell is a work computer I use it a multiple locations, some with no issues connecting wirelessly and one location the same issue as at my home (interestingly enough this location uses a DIR-655). At this 1 work location it says I'm connected, it says there is internet access, but I cannot do anything on the internet.(I can connect without issue with an ethernet connection) At my home location I can connect to the DIR-655 wirelessly, it initially shows internet access and I might be able to access a single webpage, but then it states no internet connection, but it is still connected to the DIR-655.
My initial DIR-615 and the Dell works perfectly fine. However that defeats the purpose of me buying the DIR-655. Ideally I want only the DIR-655 with all computers connecting thru it.
The ISP is a satellite connection. The modem is a Hughes HN9000. By spending 4 hours online with tech support we have changed the channel used, specified specific DNS locations, IP addresses, renewed DHCP, you name we have probably tried it.
The Dell for some reason just does not like the DIR-655, as it connects to the DIR-615 and 1 other work location router, but it will not connect at my home or other work locations (both DIR-655 routers).

I set my TL-MR3020 to AP to act as a repeater to boost my wifi signal in the living. My TL-MR3020 is able to ping the main router but there is no internet access (no Internet light) on the TL-MR3020 . The main router ip is 192.168.1.1 and TL-MR3020 IS 192.168.254.0I followed exactly the instructions on how to configure the TL-MR3020 from TP-Link website and everything seems ok except no internet
I cant get this damn thing to connect to the internet (att dsl modem). I have ran the installation cd mulitple times and also configured it using the http. If i reset it while everything is hooked up and it makes an internet connection using DCHP (I think its called), but i need a PPPoE connection.
It seems to change my password (the username one that access the modem). The way i know is it always has more characters that the one i was provided by my isp with (*****). I dont enter any information other than my username or password (IP is dynamic).
I just bought DIR-655 yesterday and tried to set it up through the CD but without success. My problem at first was I couldn't get internet connect via router (but PC to DSL modem direct connection is always all right). Then I played around to turn on "Advanced DNS service" then I got internet connection via router to my PC. However sometimes the web site names couldn't be translated by DNS correctly and it resulted in "Not Found" and I am pretty sure those web sites are active and running (as I have no problem to access those if I connect DSL modem to my PC directly). Also I noticed wireless connection was very slow and some You Tube videos would stop playing after around 30 seconds and DSL modem had no further activity at all. Why couldn't I use 192.168.0.1 (default IP) as primary DNS (as I got no internet at all if I did so)? Is it really necessary to turn on "Advanced DNS service"? How can I get internet access if I turn "Advanced DNS service" off?

I'm trying to replace my old router with the TL-MR3420 but I cannot reach Internet.
I get "Internet" directly by a Cable into my apartment. This Cable is connected to the WAN input. Then I connect my computer to one of the LAN ports. (The Cable Connections are done exactly as on my previous router.)
The setup on my PC (running Windows 8) is as described in the manual (IP address automatic and DNS server automatic).
Internet doesn't work and I cannot reach the router from the browser using 192.168.1.1.
I'm not using any 3G and of course I have restarted the router (and PC) a couple of times. I thought I could just replace my old router with the new one... but NOT.
I recently set up my DIR-615 on my wireless netbook. Everything worked fine and I could get online. But then when I changed the password on the router, it bumped me off and now says Internet isn't available. My phone can connect to Internet but not my netbook anymore. When my netbook tries to troubleshoot it keeps saying "problems with router and adapter."
I just bought the 655, mainly for school/Xbox. My parents use it also, but I bought it for myself mainly (shh). I set it up correctly and got connected, but suddenly I wasn't allowed Internet access. The router connects to my laptop, but won't get Internet access. I called customer service and he didn't know what to do. We tried everything he knew and nothing worked. I don't want to return the router cause I read it was very good, but I need internet for school. I have Rev. A and F/W 2.00.
I have had the DIR-825 since the beginning of the year connected to AT&T DSL Internet 3GB. I just upgraded to their 6GB download speed and didn't see any change in speed and suddenly I couldn't view my SlingBox anymore outside the house. I connected one computer directly to the modem, ran the AT&T speed test and got >5GB download and @700 upload. Wired via 1GB network back to the router, ran the speed test and it dropped to @4GB download and 120 upload.
I called AT&T, they checked everything, and said there was nothing wrong. I then spent almost an hour on the phone with D-Link including getting passed to 3rd level support. I knew something was wrong when the guy told me that since it was only a 1GB router, I shouldn't expect to get faster than 1GB Internet download.
The router is still running the 1.00 firmware and these are the changes they made me try so it's still sitting at these settings:
- Change the WAN from Auto 10/100 to 100 only.
- Change MTU to 1482 in my PPPoE settings
- Change Firewall Settings to turn SPI off. He said the router is still providing a firewall though.
He wanted me to download the 1.01 firmware but I balked and he said it probably wouldn't do any good. It ended with him wanting me to call AT&T back and set the modem to bridge mode. I then need to call them back and set the PPPoE again. This 3rd level support guy was very rude and am hoping to avoid calling them again.
Before I go through the hassle of calling AT&T and trying this bridge mode, or has the Elite 6GB service from AT&T and are having it work correctly.
Im using d-link 855 router to block internet to certain machines, using access control within dlink and then in putting the ip for the right machines. But it seems the machines keep changing the IP adresses everything they boot thus getting internet access the next day.
I moved to a new apartment and have to wait a month or even more to get my DSL internet, so I temporarily got myself a USB 3G device to have some access to the internet till I get my DSL line.
The USB acts as 3G modem for a single PC that's connected to it, what I want is to share that internet using my D-Link DIR-655 router so I'd be able to connect my iPhone and PS3 as well.
How to get that setup working as smoothly as possible would be great. DIR-655's default gateway is 192.168.0.1, and the auto DHCP range IIRC is 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199.
Since I got my TP-Link 1043ND working in a previous thread I thought that my second router could be in good use at my brothers house about 50m from mine.I've got a modem in the basement, it's wired to the first router (TP-Link), the TP-Link sends wireless signals to five units, one of those units are my brothers computer. The Internet works fine on every unit. Now I thought maybe my brother will have better wireless signals to the first router if I connect a second router between. I guess the second router should be working like a switch then.I have the both routers MAC addresses. I got inside the first router and entered the WDS option, I chose LAN instead of Disabled and entered the second routers wireless MAC. Then I took the first routers MAC and entered it in the second routers WDS options MAC and Enabled it. It didn't work so I entered Static Routing Table on the second router and entered the first routers IP (started with 85.228) which I found in the dd-wrt menu. Then I entered same Netmask as the first router and the same Gateway with the interface LAN. No Internet access thou from the second router. The second routers LAN IP is set to 192.168.1.3 (the second router has 192.168.1.2 as LAN IP). DHCP is set to disabled at the second router. The funny thing is if I set the second router to the same LAN IP as the first router and the same DHCP settings with DHCP enabled it says that I have Internet Access but I can't enter the Internet
I need a wireless router to transmit internet in my home, it's on two floors, my only concern is that the floor is really thick and I'm gonna be working in the basement. I need to choose between the following, can you tell me which is best?
My desktop recently broke so i bought my first laptop. I have AT&T DSL and i bought a new D-Link DSL-2640B modem/router so i could have wireless internet. I installed it and i was able to use it with the ethernet cable, however when i tried to use wifi, it worked for only about 2 minutes before it disconnected.. Now when i try again it says that it is connected (full 5 bars) but it also says there is no internet access and i cannot use the internet.
Also, before, with the old modem i was able to just connect the ethernet cable to the laptop and just start using the internet. Now i have to connect by putting in my username and password provided by my ISP almost like if it was dial up. I don't know why i have to do this now but not before.

I have a D-Link DIR-655 Router with a Motorola SB5101. When the computer is directly plugged into the modem i get 10Mpbs but when it is connected to the modem (either wireless or wired) the max speed is >3Mbps.
