Cisco Switching/Routing :: Unable To Enter New Users In Nexus 5K
May 1, 2013Interestingly enough I've seen about 3-4 posts with the exact same problem and yet not a single one is ever answered.. The task is simple:
"username USER password 5 SOMEPASS role network-admin"
It consistently outputs: "String failed to match token pattern at '^' marker." - always the carat is at the first character in whatever password I input. I've ensured passwords I input meet the conditions of "password strength-check" and I have also disabled this feature and repeated with numerous passwords to no effect.

Sep 14, 2011I just received a Cisco Aironet 1130 AG wi-fi router to configure and when I entered the router through console, I am not able to get into config mode. It says:

I followed the basic instructions that came with the router and towards the end of the process it says detecting network settings with a % bar. The bar fills to 100% and then asks for a password. I've tried the password my DSL company gave me along with various other things like admin etc. After I enter the password I hit enter and it just asks me for the password over and over again.

Aug 23, 2011I'm stuck with some NAT issues. I've got an 800-series router wich connects to the internet via a PPP connection (dialer0). On the inside the router has 192.168.0.253/24 as IP address, the outside is negotiated with the ISP
My mailserver has the ip address of 192.168.0.1 but with default gateway of 192.168.0.254 (primary internet connection). If I use plain NAT (ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.0.1 25 interface Dialer0 80) the packets arriving on the mailserver do have a public IP address as source address.
Would it be possible to rewrite those packets (source address) so they have 192.168.0.253 as source address. This way the mailserver won't send the replies to it's default gateway but back to the cisco router.

Dec 7, 2011I am working on a site that has recently added a new subnet and I am unable to ping any of the stations on this new network. I have configured an Exempt NAT rule just the same as the rules allowing access to other networks. I have a feeling the problem is in the Site-to-Site VPN configuration since the new subnet is at the primary location over the VPN.
In the site-to-site configuration I added the new subnet to the list of "Remote Networks" and I still can't communicate with any of the devices on the network. If I go to the main site I have no problems so it appears to be related to the VPN or a configuration in the ASA on that site.
A port scan shows that all the traffic is "filtered" so somewhere either the site ASA or the main ASA is blocking the traffic.

Unable To Acquire Ip Address?
Jan 7, 2012About a week ago we had a virus on this computer. Ran malware and AVG and the computer worked fine. A few days after the virus was removed I could not get online or print to the printer that was hosted on this computer. It is a wired connectionUnder network connection, it says "acquiring adress" but it never aqcuires one. I typed in the IP address manually and that allows me to get online but I cant see the other computers on the network and they cant see this computer.

Sep 26, 2012The first time I tried to connect to a new secured wireless network, I was prompted to a WPA key but didn't have it to hand so clicked away. Now when I click on any secured network that is showing up as in range, I get an error message saying Windows cannot connect and the selected network may be out of range.
I can connect to an unsecured network and to the desired network via ethernet cable. Secured WiFi was working fine when I was at home but I'm now in a different country, don't know if that could affect it somehow.

Jun 24, 2012I changed my wireless modem yesterday and i was unable to connect over wireless for one pc which has win xp sp2. It was unable to acquire ip address. Working fine when connected through wire. I checked the forums and tried this:

Right click the Local Area connection/Properties scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP-IP)/Properties. Make sure Obtain an IP Address and DNS Server Address Automatically are both checked. Now go to Start/Run and type CMD and press enter. IN the Command Prompt type ipconfig /release and press enter. the IP Address changes to 0.0.0.0 Now type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter. Now type ipconfig /renew. Now type ipconfig /all. "

Feb 7, 2011I have a netgear wireless router, not sure on the model but can find out if required. My xbox360 is hard wired to the router and my Laptop is connected wirelessly to the router using the internal wireless connection on the laptop. The other half has a laptop too, for some reason her will not connect wirelessly, just gets stuck on a constant loop of ''aquiring ip address'' and does not get past this point.
