Oct 9, 2012in LMS3.2.1 we have NMSRoot/log/syslog.log where syslogs are being logged actively from managed devices. i couldn't find the same in LMS4.2. I am configuring LMS4.2 from scratch and in the hope of making the trasition from old LMS3.2.1 to LMS 4.2, I am planning assigning the old LMSs IP to the new one. basically changing the IP address of LMS4.2.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Router Configuration File Format Difference Between Rev A And Rev B
Mar 31, 2011I've owned the Rev A DIR-655 for years and have loved it, but recently it started acting up. I have a complicated setup saved as a gateway settings file (.gws). I decided to purchase a new DIR-655 for the ease of importing my settings without having to manually setup again, however, much to my dismay, the new file format for the configuration settings on the Rev B is not .gws but rather .bin. The .gws file will not import. I tried changing the file extension to .bin with hopes it might import but no luck. I also found the utility which decrypts the .gws file into .xml and used those values to manually re-enter the settings into the Rev B router, but my port forwarding is not working the same. I was wondering if there is any utility to convert the .gws file to the .bin file in order to import into the Rev B router, or if not, can I still purchase the Rev A model somewhere. The online shops I've checked do not list the hardware version.

Mar 25, 2012I have a 1 TB external drive plugged into my WRT610 and want to access the drive from both Mac and PC. I recently upgraded the Mac to Lion and they no longer enable Time Machine to back-up to a network attached drive (Ugh!). I thought a simple work around would be to clone the drive, but the FAT file format does not allow a file size greater than 4 GB. So I seem stuck.Can the router be configured to enable exFat file format for storage? I have the back-up drive in an obsecure location (this is why I want to access the drive over the network) and would hate to relocate the drive to a more visible location.

Jan 18, 2012Got following problem with an LMS server that is installed without DNS server in the network, because this customer doesnt own and doesnt need any.
CS,CM,CV is working and contains devices, but RME (cannot connect to db) and DFM (TIS URN found) not. pdshow and dbRestoreOrig.pl after calling, hangs for ever.
To loose no further time with troubleshooting, I want to reinstall LMS from the scratch.
But I dont want to setup an DNS server just for resolving the only IP-Adresse from LMS server for self purpose only. Do I need an entry in driversetchosts for LMS server itself?

Cisco :: Restoring Backup To LMS4.2 From LMS3.2.1
Oct 4, 2012i tried to restore backup from LMS3.2.1(windows) to LMS4.2 virtual appliance. once the back up is completed, the home page takes forever to load. i opened TAC case, and the only way out seems to be configuring from scratch after importing the devices. i, imported the devices and this didn't cause any problem. But, making the configuration from scratch is something i would like to avoid if possible.

Jul 20, 2011On our CiscoWorks 2000 installation, running on Solaris with LMS3.2 and RME4.3.1, we noticed a few weeks ago, that the job "Inventory Collection" needs more and more time to finish. At the moment the job execution time is as high as 8 hours, compared to 3 hours before. When we look at the network traffic during job execution, we see after the collection phase (~3h) several hours with no traffic together with a very high CPU load. I mean to remember that this job used to complete around 15 minutes after data collection phase. Restarting the application and rebooting the system didn't work.When we look in to the IC_Server.log, we find devices with a completion time of over 20'000 seconds. Increasing from day to day. [code]
Affected devices are Cisco Nexus 5548P. We tried to delete/add these devices. That works for a few days, then the runtime starts to increase again.
Are we hitting a bug? And is it possible, as a workaround, to exclude devices from only the Inventory Collection?

Check device credential verification job shows "Error performing SNMP operation" for a cisco 3750 configured with snmpv3.On the switch i can see that the lms can access the switch via snmpv3. Also cisco view works fine. Bug CSCsm89609 describe the problem but it should be fixed in RME 4.3. We are running 4.3.1.

Getting the following error messsage trying to upgrade some Cisco 871 routers: "Catastrophic - SWIM1200: Selected Flash partition requires minimum (28 MB) to upgrade selected software/image."The images are around 18 MB in size. Why does Cisco Prime thinks its 28 MB in size? Bug?
Cisco WAN :: BGP And Load Distribution 6509
Dec 18, 2012I opened a discussion a while ago and had some great feedback but I am still racking my brains to figure this out,I have 2 routers each with a dedicated connection to the same ISP. I am using MED to influence my advertisements to the provider,I have 2 core switches (6509) with multiple vlans, each vlan has an HSRP address of .10 shared by the switches
My routers and switches are using iBGP to communicate. Both routers connect to vlan 1 on the core switches,I want to influence my traffic from the vlans to go to specific routers, so that I utilize both routes at all times (when possible), ensuring symmetric routing at the same time.
I think I have the following options
- PBR, I'd set this on the routers fastethernet interfaces and match based an two different ACLs
set the next hop as the ISP router 1 when matching ACL 1
set the next hop as the ISP router 2 when matching ACL 2
My concern is if I lose a link (say to ISP router 1), all traffic matched by ACL 1 is blackholed
- HSRP was suggested to me.
configure 2 standby groups on the routers with different priorities
allocate different HSRP addresses matching each vlan (to act as a core switch default gateway)
My concern here is I'd need the routers HSRP virtual IP addresses as the BGP neighbors on the core switches?
IP Address Distribution Is Not Working?

Oct 20, 2012Imagine I am designing a small network with a C2900 router running OSPF and in the future BGP with service provider. Please see attached diagram.The router is connected to (2) C3750 Layer 3 distribution switches. Then one C3560 layer 2 switch to serve future IP phone users and desktops.
Question:
a)If I connect the router interface to the (2) 3750 switches, if I make the router interface fa0/0 and fa0/1 as a trunk to accomodate VLAN 200 and other future VLANs, don't I have a problem with overlapping networks between router interface fa0/0 and fa0/1?
b)Alternatively, I could make the Router1 fa0/0 and fa0/1 configured with IP addresses and advertised in OSPF. Then the SW1 fa0/24 and and SW2 fa0/24 I could make as 'no switchport and create a routed interface port' with IP addresses, also running OSPF. Question is, from a scalable design perspectie, would you create 2 management networks and use those when assigning the IP addresses for Router1 fa0/1 and fa0/2? Because again Router1 fa0/1 and fa0/2 obviously need to be placed on different networks to avoid overlapping. So my question is more about proper network planning design to make this scalable to accomodate future VLANs in the future.Using trunks between the Router1 and SW1 option:
