Cisco WAN :: 3750 Router - Inbound Bandwidth Completely Saturated At 20Mbs
Oct 21, 2011
I have a 3750 acting as my WAN router connected to our MPLS provider via ethernet. For a couple days my inbound bandwidth has been completely saturated at 20Mbs (the speed of my link). I know this model of switch does not support netflow, but is there any other way to try and find out what is using all the bandwidth? I have pretty much ruled out anything on the internet since the in/out interfaces of my firewall are not seeing much traffic.

I'm intending to purchase a switch for work, and I need to limit the bandwidth of one of the ports to 25 Mbit upload and 25 Mbit download (we have 100/100 Mbit connection and the customer is only paying for 25). I been trying to find information on how this could be "properly" done and what kind of switch I need to buy. As far as I have understood, most L2+ switches support outbound rate limiting, but not inbound, and as I only want the customer to have 25 mbit up and down, I need both.
I been looking at a Cisco Catalyst 3560 switch, and I'm first and foremost wondering if I can limit the inbound AND outbound bandwidth on this switch? Perhaps it can even be done on a simpler, cheaper, switch - as I rather not spend more money then necessary?
Lastly, how to do it, limit the inbound and outbound bandwidth on a single port (perhaps on the above mentioned switch, if possible), to 25 Mbit?

I have a non-cisco router with a public WAN address. This is conencted to a 3750 switch internally. The switch is the default gateway for all VLANs, and the gateway router has static routes back to the 3750. The Router provides NAT, no NAT is done on the switch. My requirement is to port forward port 29 000 so that I can access a server on VLAN4 via this port.
So, I have: Router: Port 29000 map to 192.168.4.1 (Switch VLAN4 address)
The question is, how do I route port 29000 from the 3750 to the server on 192.168.4.42 ? what exactly I should add in order to port forward port 29000 incoming form my router, to my server on 192.168.4.42.

We are using Cisco 3750 switches in our environment as distribution switches. We currently use to police inbound traffic, but we need to find a solution to limit inbound traffic per IP.Something like this “Inbound traffic for each IP can be maximum 1 Mbps” This can be done having, one ACL and one class-map for each IP, but in my situation is not a practical solution, because we have more than 500 IP’s on that site.
Is any way to accomplish this without writing 500 ACLs and 500 class-map?

I would like to connect to a 1Gb routed uplink, and then impose bandwidth limits (via shaping/policing/whatever) on a per port basis. The ports could either be configured to route, or as switchports on separate VLANS. I'm trying to identify hardware that will let me do this. The set up I have in mind is shown below.
I am wondering if the IP Services Adv software on that switch will allow that functionality?

how can I configure a Catalyst 3750, which interface is patched on the ISP router (internet uplink bandwidth = 20Mbps with) to allow all active users are sharing the bandwidth (either 5, 50, 100, user simultaneously..in internet surfing. right now it's like when a user starts a larger download that it uses the bulk of the bandwidth, and other users can reach all remaining extremely slow access times.

We are a new medical school located in PA. Just have just completed a new building and are now working on getting our network finished. Here is the situation we have a 50MB Internet Connection that comes into our network that then hits the ISPs Cisco 3750 which sends it to two of our Cisco 3750s for redundancy. From the 3750 goes into our Cisco 6509 with a FWSM module, then out from there to our distribution switches which are all Cisco 2960s.
What we would like to do is to control how much WAN connectivity each of our VRFs get. Right now we have a Faculty, Student, and Research VRF formed, and are trying to figure out the best spot where we can say Faculty gets 30MB of Bandwidth, Students gets 10, and Research gets 10. If possible would like burst capabilities.

I would like to limit the bandwidth available to a different target machine. I have been trying to do this on a Cisco 3750, but first I came across this message:
% QoS: policy-map with police action at parent level not supported ...
Then this:
% QoS: policy-map child ... ClassMap BackLimit only support MATCH-INPUT INTERFACE
Is there any documentation, I searched the forum but all I see are complex solutions, I just wanted to limit the bandwidth for a machine that is in a different site. I wanted to apply the policy on an interface SVI.

If I have an interface configured as follows (on a Cisco 3750 Switch)
Interface gi 1/0/24
Bandwidth 100000
And then added the following command
srr-queue bandwidth limit 40
Would the result be 40% of the physical 1Gbps interface or 40% of the 100Mbps Bandwidth set under the interface bandwidth command.

I want to limit the bandwidth of my Catalyst 3750 series switch, I read the cisco documentation and I applied the commands but I didn't get the wanted results.
For the outbound traffic it's ok, but for the inbound traffic I used policing but I get an unstable traffic. I used, an access list and a class-map to classify the traffic and then a policy-map.(I followed the steps mentioned in this site: [URL]

I bought the DIR-655 less than a year ago in Amazon, shipping it to NY. And then I came back to Uruguay. Almost 3 months ago the router stopped working completely and I started to search for support in Uruguay. After calling US support I was told I should contact the local or regional D-Link (which I later found is D-Link LA). And via DLinkLA.com I found the company TELEDATA S.A. url... who does the official support for D-Link in Uruguay. They told me the router couldn't be fixed, and told me DLinkLA, which is based in Chile, would either send me a working one (they also told me the service/warrany was already approved), or send me the money and gave me their contact details. After two weeks of contacting them, trying to get their attention, they finally told me it was not their responsibility because it was bought in the US. And now they don't return my e-mails.

I have a switch connected from the internet outtake in my apartment. This switch gives internet to two, or sometimes three computers, by cable. To get wireless I have a DLINK-615 connected after the switch. This solution works flawless for some time, just after the router is started or reset. If I go to speedtest.net both the upload and the download works flawless. However, after around half an hour it's virtually impossible to upload, which gives heavy lag in programs like skype and games. If you try to speedtest.net now the download is still fine, but the upload gives a result of 0.1mb/sec after trying to even start the test for 3-4 minutes.Router giving up upload completely
I've tried to change the IP in the router to prevent a conflict between it and the switch. The problem is still there whatever IP I choose though, I simply have no upload.I've also tried to disable the DHCP, mess with the MTU and to enable the Access Point mode with no result.

I've had this WRT300N for several years and it has worked very well.It suddenly dropped all wireless connections and no one can re-connect. My main pc is hard wired directly to the router and works perfectly as always. 3 wireless pc's and 3 handheld devices suddenly can't connect. I've powered down my modem and router for several minutes, but nothing changed. The firmware was upgraded a long time ago and there are no other upgrades available.

I purchased an E4200 from a retail store about ten days ago.It completely quits periodically. Even the managment interface is gone. It seems to just die. The only fix is to unplug it, count to ten and plug it back in.router also gets extremely hot. I have tried locating it in several places, no matter where I put it, it still gets very hot. Right now I have it straddling a trash can so that it has about two feet of air space under it. It is still uncomfortable to the touch.
When I contacted technical support all they would do is walk me through setting it up from scratch again. I've done that many times, and I do not want to do it agian. Setting the router up agian will not make it cool down.
1. Exchange this for another one, probably from the same batch, at the store?
2. Fight with Linksys tech support to get a waranty return? (Any input on how to get them to do this?)
3. Return this router altogether (paying the retailer's 15% restocking fee) and look for another brand?

I've just been on the phone with tech support and it appears that the latest firmware that Cisco Connect is stating that one should install is faulty and is bricking routers.
I've tried resetting it, holding the reset button while powering up for over 5 minutes with no change.
All the router does now is the power light is blinking but no access to the router is possible at all.

We have a low bandwith (15-20 Mbit/s) to the ASA from our Client vlan. If i connect the Client to the same vlan as the ASA is, the bandwith (90 Mbit/s) is good.
Here are the Layer 3 Design:
Client -> vlan 2 - Switch - vlan 7 -> vlan 1 - ASA 5505 -> ISP
The Layer 2 Design:
Client -> Gig2/0/13 - Switch - Gig4/0/43 -> Eth0/1 ASA5505 -> ISP

switch 1 provision ws-c3750g-12sswitch 2 provision ws-c3750g-24tsswitch 3 provision ws-c3750g-24tsswitch 4 provision ws-c3750x-48
And we have following error message in the log from the switch:
%PLATFORM_UCAST-4-PREFIX:
One or more specific prefixes could not be programmed into TCAM and are being covered by a less specific prefix, and the packets may be software forwarded I first get the idea that the switch is overloaded with router traffic. Thats why i assuming i have to check the sdm templates, but i'm not sure if this resolves the issue.

My old WRT54G V8 router has been acting up lately. It keep dropping the connection out of the blue. Sometimes I'd be browsing the Internet when the router's signal vanishes completely, it disappears from the list of available wireless networks on not just my computer, but my smartphone and all other devices in the household! Other times I keep connected to the network but there's no access to the Internet. Everything seems fine on the ISP's part, I can connect just fine directly from my modem, so I'm certain the problem is with the router. Besides, these problems are solved by just power cycling the router.

I posted my complaint on Amazon.com recently. My E4200 router stopped allowing traffic through ports completely. I was able to unplug the power and allow the router to cool, and the router would work for a while then stop after about 10 minutes. I assume that the unit was overheating, but I do not have the equipment of a test facility.I bought a Belkin AC 1200 router which is a bit of an upgrade from Amazon.com. I do not think that there is anything that Linksys can do for me as my warranty expired. I just thought that when I spent what was to me a lot of money the router should have lasted longer.

I was in the Wireless tab>Basic Wireless Settings and then I clicked the "Reset Security" button. I don't know what that did but I've been completely shut out of my connection ever since and I don't know how to fix it. I tried doing the install sequence of the router just now (Clone MAC address, then release and renew DHCP, power cycle modem, router, and PC) but it still didn't work.

I have a server that I am using as a CCTV system. On the E3200, I have port forwarding setup so that it will forward port 3500 in to port 80 on my server. So from the internet, I can point my browser to my home IP address on port 3500 and see the images capture on the server. What I am finding is that from inside the network, I can connect to the cctv server all day long. When I try to connect to it from the internet using the external IP address on port 3500, the Linksys E3200 is dropping my inbound connection and it seems like it is blacklisting my IP address for several minutes. I can have a continuous ping going. As soon as I try to access the cctv webpage, my session drops, the pings start failing, and it remains that way for a short time.I thought that the router might be resetting itself, so I started a continous ping from two totally separate computers to my router, and from one of those computers I try to access the cctv server through the port forwarding, and the computer I tried it from one drop and its pings would start failing, at the same time the other computer was still able to continously ping my router.

So I recently purchased an E4200 to replace my aging and slightly ailing DLink DIR-655 which as served me well for going on 5 years. The part of the DLink that was giving me the issues was the wireless, the routing and switching worked fine however.
I do quite a lot of streaming of media from my home machine outside my network through the internet. Most recently I've been using Kalemsoft Media Streamer on my HP Touchpad, however I've used Zumocast, Windows Live, Splashtop, and a few others. I havent yet tried my PPTP VPN through the router for an extended period of time to see if it reflects this issue as well though.
Since replacing my 655 with the E4200 I've started experiencing a timeout issue. It seems to be semi-consistant and only happens after time of unuse or extended use (I havent timed it yet to see if it always happens after the same amount of time though).
Basically what occurs is this:
I'll be watching some video or listening to audio streaming from my machine and after a period of time (usually a long period of time) it'll suddenly lose connection, requiring me to re-connect through the software, like the NAT translation is timing out or something.
How it USED to work is this: It'd basically work until I stopped streaming.
My setup:
AT&T Uverse set to DMZPlus aiming towards my E4200 WAN port (sitting directly in place of the 655 I used to have)
All machines on the network are gigabit. I have ports 7000 and 7001 open for Kalemsoft Media Streamer on the E4200 per the specifications of the software.
The software understands UPnP so I have nothing specific forwarded on my machine, but I didnt previously either.
