I recently bought and installed a DIR-615 for my home network, and downloaded the Yahoo Widget.
Widget recognizes and display all the config information (LAN, WAN, WiFi) fine, but it does no display any of the speeds (which was the whole idea).
the Dlink Network Monitoring widget just shows: IP Address error?I'm on DIR-655 Rev_B hardware and 2.01 firmware.

My DIR-825 has the latest firmware, 2.06xx and works flawlessly, even the shareport usb port works without a hitch with a Seagate Expansion 3TB drive connected into it. What I simply would like is the D-Link gadget.

The last couple of years, I've always been checking the firmware version by pushing the "Check Now" button on the web management - it has always responded with "This firmware is the latest version. " I've been researching networking monitoring tools and came across this link: [URL] It requires that you update to the latest firmware - and this time I sued on the on-line link - and it turns out that the firmware version for my device is actually 1.35NA?So... first question is - why does my router tell me that 1.21 is the current version?I'd like the network widget - what are pros/cons of updating from 1.21 to 1.35NA?Have there been fixes to the scheduling portion? - 1.21 cannot handle 24-hour time properly. I also have to reset the router daily - sometimes more often - due to problems when used wirelessly. (Fortunately I try to use wired as much as I can.)

I have the dir-615 router and cannot get the printer to show up on my home network.Printer works fine hard wired to pc but wireless not at all. The ip address of the printer is 169.254.147.xx while everything on my network is 192.168.0.xx. Printer says connected for a few seconds then disconnected....I have tried to configure it on a vista and a win 7 machine.Everything else shows up fine on my network, as a matter of fact a friend brought his laptop over and it connected great..
View 14 Replies View RelatedThis is the configuration I am running:Internet > Cable Modem > Netgear WNDR3700 Router ~~ DAP-1522 > Wired Windows 7 PC + Linux PC + Printer.The Windows 7 and Linus PC's do communicate well to the internet as do any laptops accessing the router wirelessly and any devices wired to the router. That is the good news.
The bad news is that any devices located after the DAP-1522, including the DAP-1522 do not show up on the network map of either the router or any of the wireless laptops. Neither does the Win 7 PC connected through the DAP-1522 show any networked devices, whether through the DAP-1522 or not, even though network discovery is turned on.
Right now the DAP-1522 is set up to function as a bridge and is in "Static IP" mode. I tried changing it to DHCP, but the DAP-1522 will not allow saving that setting, even though it will allow changing it. It just reverts back to "Static IP". The firmware version is 1.31, and the firmware update went well after a workable logon to the admin page was discovered. Also the one-button (WPS) set-up to the router worked as far as allowing an internet connection.
What needs to change to allow all the devices to show up on the network maps and maintain internet access? Ultimately, I would like to stabilize the IP's of the major components of the network to make troubleshooting easier. But to do that the devices need to show up on the network maps, particularly of the router, so they can be added to the IP reservation table by selection.
I can see what MAC addresses have a wireless session and I've used MAC Filtering to stop some MAC addresses from using the network at certain times, but they are still getting through to the internet. I don't know if they were to clone their MAC address as to whether this would show up with the cloned address in active sessions list. How I can stop some users from getting through at certain times? Any utility I can use on my Mac (Mac OS X 10.6. to show which computers/MAC addresses are on the network?

I have a notebook (Sony Vaio) and I also have a Blue-Ray Player and my DirecTV DVR connected by ethernet. Starting a few days ago I was having connectivity issues. At first I could see the network on my Vaio, but the Internet kept coming and going.I did some troubleshooting on the adapter and that seemed to work. Now I am having an issue where every 2 hours or so the wireless drops and the network disappears from the list of available connections on my notebook. I have had my netbook on (connected wireless) and the issues are replicated on that system.
Both of my wired devices do not see any interruption in connectivity. Living in an apartment complex I suspected interference and indeed there are a ton of other networks in range (as per inSSIDer 2.0). As there is no channel that is clearly open, I have set my router to auto channel scan. I also have tried some of the steps outlined in other threads. The thing I am noticing is that when the network connection drops my network (which has a unique name) doesn't even show up on inSSIDer, it just disappears. When working, my network is consistantly in the -25 range on inSIDDer.I should point out also that my notebook is a mere 8 feet from the router, and there are no obstructions.
I've installed aDIR655 for my friend's cafe and found that Clients ( both wired and WIFI ) have difficulties accessing Yahoo and MSN while Googles etc ( and other Newspaper and webmail sites are OK ) is fine.....I tried to reload and reboot and re-config etc but all in vain...

It is not a computer issue because my laptop plays the videos fine on different wireless connections just will not play on my home connection. Is there some simple setting somewhere that is causing this issue? All other videos play fine......youtube, CBS news etc. It is only yahoo videos. The commercials even play fine. When the video tries to play it simply gets stuck in the loading screen with the circle thing going around an around or it nds then says video is no longer available.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Belkin F7D4301 Router has the fastest wireless speed of maybe 2MBps but wired with a cat5e cable to my asus laptop of almost 7MBps. I have a one smart TV, one blue ray, one roku, and a nexus 7 using the 2.4 channel.
My Wireless 2.4 settings are channel 11, Extension channel 7, Wireless mode N (have tried with just g and b, g, and n modes), Bandwidth 20/40, Protected mode on, QOS off.
I've talked to Belkin tech support, they are the ones who had me set up my 2.4 channel this way but my wireless speeds stay just under 2MBps, they just want to keep sending me the same model Router because they think each of the new ones they send me is defective.
Am I doing something wrong or is 2MBps the best wireless speed I'm going to get?
i have had a DIR-655 Rev. A router for years now and had no problems connecting my laptop to it well over 150m, the iproducts never got over 65m, i'm OK with that if they just won't but i would like to get there if possible. i went out and picked up a 2nd 655 (rev B) and flashed the bios up to the newest version 2.03NA and went in and mirrored all of the settings from the original router and then replaced the old router with the new one. the old router is not being used at this time though there are plans to use it as an access point later in another part of the house. i have updated the drivers for the wireless N card on my laptop (i can't remember the name of the adapter or the model, i'll provide that when i go home for lunch today). i've tried various settings for security, (i want to use WPA2 only, personal key, AES cipher, channel width 20/40 auto) i've even tried no security and it still won't connect over 65m.

If I plug my computer directly into my cable modem, I get 24.98 Mbps every time.
Using the same speed test, if I go through the DIR-655 I get rates from 2.92 to 10 Mbps.

I'm looking to connect my 50+ drops I have in my home based business. I transfer large files 5+gigs on a regular basis between the machines. I currently just have some cheap Netgear 8port, gigabyte switch's but when transferring files I max out around 12-15mb/sec. This takes WAY too long to transfer files.
I need a network switch so I can get my speeds up to 60+mb/sec at least. (my seconds job office has this ability)
What would I need to get this kind of speed? All my cabling is CAT6, with CAT6 ends. Would I need a managed switch to get this kind of speed?
I was looking at a couple switches. Cisco Sg 100-24 24-PORT Gigabit Switch $374 or Cheaper option Netgear Prosafe GS724T-300NAS 24 Port Gigabit Smart Switch W/ Rack Mount Kit $199
Or is there something else I could go with in this price range?
Cable modem into cisco-linksys E4200. 2 of the ports going out from the router plug into the wall, where one goes to the master bedroom and one goes to the living room. Once it gets to the wall jack in each of those rooms it goes out to a gigabit switch. Each of those two rooms has a computer and a TV connected, and the living room as a blu-ray also connected to the switch.The third port going out from the E4200 router goes to another gigabit switch, which is connected to a couple more computers in that room.All of the cables are either cat5e or cat6. The long cables running through the wall from the server room to the living room and master bedroom is 24gauge 4pair cat5e, it was run by a general contractor.
When I transfer between any of the computers on the network as it sits I get 11MB/sec. I get that number by clicking more details on the file transfer. In the network tab of task manager it sits pretty consistently at 10%.If I move any of the computers to be connected to the SAME switch (i tested all 3) i can transfer around 60MB/sec.Based on this testing my initial instinct is to say that the cable running between the rooms is limiting the transfer speed. However the cable is cat5e and rated for gigabit. Neither of the runs are anywhere near 300ft long. Plus the consistency of the transfer speeds at 11MB/sec makes me think it's being clearly capped at 100base-T speeds as opposed to just slowing down due to interference of the cable.As a side note there is a place in the router that tells you the speed of each port. For some reason it has one of my ports listed as gigabit and the others listed as 10/100Mbps. The yellow 3 foot cable i have is listing as gigabit, when i swap it with another cable in the router it changes the gigabit port to the one this yellow cable is on, very odd, however regardless of whether the router says its gigabit it only transfers at 11MB/sec anyway.What I'm wondering is what could be causing this limitation besides the two cables running through the wall? Is that the only thing that could be doing it? What is the best way to really test it out? Do I need to buy some kind of network testing device that tests throughput?
Okay i just got the DIR-615 N Router and at first i was getting 40 ping on speedtest.net but now I'm getting 360 ping which is really frustrating since i upgraded because my old one was having troubles and also when i get to the check connection in the setup i am getting Your new router does not appear to be connected properly.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm surprised to see speeds around 11MB on a gigabit LAN and the NAS is also gigabit. I've been reading that when people take the DLink router out of the loop that there speeds get upwards around 48Mb or so. Or if they add in a non DLink switch put the equipment on that leg with the switch.
Are there some tweaks in the 825 that could work for the LAN speed for this NAS? Seems odd to have to buy a new router or add in a switch to do what this should be doing already. This is going to be an issue for streaming movies and especially HD via WiFi across the LAN.
I would also like to do my data backups to the NAS but when they hit around 60Gb it would take a long time to do a backup.
How can I optimize my router to get maximum transfer speeds? I average 72 Mbps.Notebook-Speedtest.net 31.58Mbs down/3.08 up. I'm just confused about transfer speeds not being 300 Mbps. Can or should I correct this? When I purchased router it said the transfer speeds would be 300Mbps.

I've been having issues with my DIR-655 - the speeds are super slow. In the past, I've been able to restart the modem, and my speeds would be acceptable, but now a restart doesn't change the speeds I'm getting from speed test.net. I know it has to do with the router, because when I directly connect to the modem, my speeds are great.

I have a DSL connection with AT&T. It is rated at 6Mbps / 768Kbps, but it closer to 4Mbps / 600Kbps. I have a speed stream 5360 connected to the DIR655. Devices on my network are primarily wireless and include; several laptops, a desktop (which is wireless n), a couple phones / Ipods and a Wii that I watch Netflix on.
I do a lot of Photography and a handful of video work, and backup / share everything online. When I am uploading photos, even with "conserve bandwidth" turned on in the uploading application, browsing sites is very slow, but reasonably functional. If I try to upload a video to YouTube, I can barely manage to do anything else the entire time it is uploading. I've tried to plan and run all my uploads overnight, but then Netflix is unusable when I want to watch it at night.
I've tried several different things, first off, with getting the Wii to function for Netflix, I turned on the QOS engine, for the IP that is assigned to it, and set it to priority 1 for all ports. I also have a entry in the QOS engine for SSH on port 23 with a priority of 10 because of how laggy my SSH sessions are. I do not have any other entries in the QOS engine, is that a problem? Should there be entries that cover other services and assign them a lower priority?
I have enable traffic shaping and Automatic uplink speed turned on. It measured the uplink speed at 695kbps, which is pretty accurate. I have Automatic Classification off, and Dynamic Fragmentation on. WISH is enabled also. I'm set to mixed n, g, and b, I'm not positive, but I do think my older laptops only use wireless b.
Even more importantly than the Netflix would be to allow me to use the Internet in a functional manner while I am uploading, that would solve a lot of problems. It seems that the uploads just hog every last bit of upload bandwidth and don't want to make room for even the small requests that one needs to send to view a web page.

I had my Dir-655 router for over a year & this is is a first.My firmware is 1.21 & I only use my router for gaming when I'm not on my PC for home use. I have only one PC in the house that is not shared, I have also not downloaded any virus or maleware.So the past month I decided to buy a wired ethernet cord to connect to my gaming systems rather than using the wireless option to get an extra bit of speed. That has been working fine up till yesterday when all of a sudden my download speeds dropped from around 20Mb down to barely 1Mb down (I can't even get the speed test site to fully load anymore). The upload & ping remains unchanged though. Only my Download speed is being affected. This is both when I'm on the PC & when I'm online gaming.
I unplugged my D-Link router & plugged my modem directly to my PC & I got back the 20+Mb speed, so the modem or cable company are not at fault (I even called them to see if there were any problems on there end).
-I tried turning off my Firewall on my PC.
-Resetting & rebooting both my modem/router/PC.
-using different DNS numbers.
-using /flushdns.
-using /Iprenew.
-Messing around with my router configurations such as:
turning off QoS Engine.
turning off wireless.
turned of MAC filtering.
unchecked "Add DHCP Reservation".
unchecked SIP.
None of it worked. I'm still browsing at around 56k dial up speed for the past day+!I read up on the internet for similar problems, but the only solutions I saw was turning off the firewall on the PC, but that hasn't worked at all.

Problem is that the XP machines can download 25Mbsp on speedtest.net but the Win 7 only manages 5Mbps through dir-655 -- ALL WIRED CONNECTS!. Connect Win 7 directly to modem and d/l is 30Mbps 2 hour Netflex test of wireless indicates good performance. D-Link support had me going in circles for a while until I finally suggested that a firmware update was in order. They assured me that this had been id'd as a problem and that latest firmwire would certainly solve it. It did not.
Just bought a dir-655, set it up (all though the wizard wasn't working, it kept getting stuck on step 5 of 7) so I just configured everything manually.I'm getting 2.4 MB/s speeds wirelessly.I was expecting much better, my wireless g linksys router did just slightly lower than that. My xbox 360 can't even stream HD without buffering every few mins. It also will just stop, and be unable to see the media for a couple minutes (when doing HD).I have wireless setup as WPA2, and the devices I use wirelessly are N devices. I have the router setup to only use wireless N.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm currently subscribed to Comcast's 22/5 Internet service. Internet upload speeds on both wired and wireless are about the same at ~ 5 Mbps. Wireless download speeds range from .5-3 Mbps. Wired or Wireless, I receive LAN speeds of ~32 Mbps or 3-4 MB/s. The noticeable issue is wireless internet download speed. I have tried every configuration possible with my router, updated drivers on devices, firmware and tested everything I could on all PCs, and even used the XBOX 360's media extender network tuning feature as a tool in my investigation to find this bottleneck. All reports point to internet download speed. Again, general LAN and internet upload speeds relatively meet expectations. The wired download speeds are slow at times, but consistently meet expectations.

I have tried 2 DIR-655 routers now, revision B1, firmware versions 2.04, 2.07, 2.08beta and a number of laptops and wireless mini pci-e nics and I simply CAN'T get faster than about 10 megabytes/sec transfer speed from a wireless laptop to a wired gigabit desktop.
Is this just simply a limitation of these routers? Can they simply not transfer data at decent speeds? I've seen real world transfer speeds near 12 megabytes/sec on a DIR-615 and I assumed the limiting factor there was the 100megabit wired connection.

I am using a DIR-655 A4 with 1.34NA firmware. I need to be able to view the router logs occasionally. I have the emails coming to the correct email address however all of the logs are dated Nov 27th. If I click on the "status" tab, then "logs" then "email now" I do get the current logs. I have a schedule setup for the logs to be sent on a daily basis. The schedule is setup for "everyday" and "all day". Why all of my dates in the log show Nov 27th only and only the initialization and access info shows when the router is first turned on. Under "log options" all items are checked.

The 2.4 shows up and I can connect to but the 5 ghz (n) speed says it's enabled but I can never see it when I scan on any of my wireless n products (laptops and other computers). Dlink support told me to change to mixed mode g and n. I was running it in mixed mode (a, g and n). D link told me to change to mixed mode g and n and to make sure they stay on channel 6 and 11. Is this correct. Which firmware should I upgrade to and is there any easy way to do this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have configured a vlan interface on a 3750 switch. there is aprox 4Mb active traffic flowing through the interface, but when I do a "show interface vlan (vlanid)" the output show zero bits in and zero bits out. Its a typical L3 config with one IP on the vllan interface acting as the gateway for the VLAN devices. Is this a normal behaviur ? and if so is there any way to get the traffic in/out stats. The end PC/devices are connected to this switch via an L2 TRUNK and I dont have access to the L2 switch on which the actual devices connect. so cant get the real time stats of those interfaces.
