View 4 RepliesAt one of our client premises they have an Cisco 1841 router. We need to connect from outside (other location in another country) with Remote Desktop connection port 3389 to an internal IP address ( a server). From any IP address it have to permit a connection on port 3389 to be forwarded to the server.

Below is my show run of a Cisco 800 router (Two VLAN's, single WAN) that works fine. Problem is that in this senario port 3389 is open for everyone. Only two remote users are allowed to connect trough port 3389. Let's say WAN IP's : 22.33.44.55 and 66.77.88.99. How would a good access-rule look like to fix it?

Recently, something weird occurred. My Motorola Surfboard cable modem (on PenTeleData/Service Electric) and my D-Link DIR-655 don't seem to be getting along. If I plug a network cable directly from the modem into a computer, it works fine. However, if I go from the modem to the router's WAN port, it doesn't seem to want to connect to the router at all (no matter what DNS settings I change on the router (including spoofing the MAC address of a working computer) or which network cables I use; the "activity" light on both the router and the modem remain off). Also, if I take a network cable and plug one end in one of the LAN ports on the router and the other end in the WAN port, it works (well, the "internet" activity light on the front of the router comes on and the status page at http://192.168.0.1/Status/Device_Info.shtml says "Cable Status: Connected; Network Status: Incorrectly configured - check logs" instead of "Cable Status: Disconnected; Network Status: Disconnected").
View 11 Replies View RelatedI setup port forwarding for many router before, but I couldn't get this one to work.I triple check all of my configuration, they all setup correctly. But the port/ports on the router is not open.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a machine on my home network running Windows Server 2012 (Based on Win8).The problem is, my taskbar disappears completely. When I minimize an application rather than minimize to the taskbar it simply closes the window as small as it can as if the taskbar never existed (see photos at bottom).
The problem first presented itself after I accessed the computer from outside my local network I'm using a Linksys router and mapping to the server IP, port 3389.After a restart the problem goes away, I will update when I have more information on how frequently or what may trigger.
None of the port forwarding settings are working at all on my router. I have just a couple very simple settings. One of them is just an IP camera. I input the name, the TCP port, the computer (IP address) and that's it. This works just fine with my other Netgear router, but with this router, NADA. The router has the latest version of the firmware applied. Just applied it. Hardware version B. Firmware version: 2.10NA. If so, then I really need my money back since it is a main function of a router and it should work. Can't return it now, since I bought it several months ago. Never knew port forwarding didn't work because I never needed it until now.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was changing the port forwarding configuration when suddenly the router stopped working, and now the "D-Link" light is constantly on, and the power light and the 4 LAN lights are flashing. Nothing worked, resetting, or unplug and plug again in a short time.
I disconnected it for 12 hours, and when I plugged in again, it kinda worked, and the settings where factory defaults, so when I tried to connect it to DSL via PPoE, when ( I believe ) it reboots to accept the changes, it starting flashing again and completely stopped working.
So I waited 12 hours more unplugged, plugged it and it worked, and the setting from 12 hours earlier were still there. But when trying to connect to the DSL it stopped working AGAIN.
Now I don't know what to do. I guess I am going to keep trying connecting with little differences, until something.
I believe it still has warranty but since the is no official service in Uruguay, it isn't economically viable to send it overseas.
I am currently connected directly to the DSL, sharing connection to other computers through a switch and hosting an ad-hoc wireless network, but the performance is terrible and the wireless range is minimal.
Taking another look at Dview cam today after not touching it for 3 months after initial install. The dcs-2132L can't connect.I can to the 2132L directly... I changed the port as a test.. Port 80 wasn't working originally.

The problem is that the voip is not working. I have 2 offices with adsl connection. A is the central office and B is the branch office. The installation is old with deferent ADSL modem-router(Zyxel). The zyxel at the A office was damaged so i had to change it with Tp-link. The potology with ip and cables is the same. I tested the port forward for voip (port 1720) with telnet from outside of the office and responds correct. When i try to call from the A office to B office it seems that i can not connect. When i call from B office to A office the phone is ringing and i can not hear office B but office B hear office A. When i use the old modem router at the office A everything is working fine but the modem-router works just for a while so i have to change it. I closed the firewall but the problem is still the same. I talked with the local distributor and they tolded me that i have to correct the configuration. At the interface setup is chosen the dynamic at the section get ip and not static as i should do. The is a problem there. The configuration asks me the subnet mask and gateway. I do not know the subnet mask and either the local distributor and the local internet provider cannot assist. The internet provider told me to use at the subnet mask 255.255.255.240 and at the gateway the ip of the router. I did that but when i did i lost the internet connection. I have to mention that i make some other port forwards to my SBS2003 server and like remote desktop, vpn connections and https that works fine. The only prolbem is with the vpn port forwarding.
I want to setup port forwarding in my office router so that i can access my lan computer (192.168.0.122) from any where in the world through (remote desktop connection)I have (D-Link (DIR-615)) router. I went to virtual server option. then i select application name as Remote desktop then public port as (3389), protocol (both), Schedule (Always). My lan computer ip address (192.168.0.122), private port (same 3389), inbound filter (allow all). then i clicked save settings. Then the router took 20 seconds to save. then i close the browser. Then i asked my brother to connect through remote desktop connection who is on the skype and he is in different country and that time he is in office. So he put my router public ip address (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:3389) in this format but unable to connect.

I contacted the d-link support and during the process of troubleshooting the problem, the internet connection was also lost. Up till now, the wireless and internet connections through DIR-655 are not working.

I purchased IPTV set-top box from Dish Network (which in turn uses NeuLion services). The set top box works out of the box with TrendNet TEW-432BRP, however the set top box seems to reboot every time I try to launch a channel. The set top box is connected to LAN port 2/DLink is configured to reserve IP address for the set-top box based on its MAC address. The set top is also within its own DMZ so that it does not interfere with firewall settings.

It was still on my iPhone, and then a few minutes later disappeared from my iPhones network as well. I've tried hard resetting etc, network name doesn't show up anymore, on ethernet to the modem now but tad uncomfortable sitting on the living room since I have the router and modem in my entertainment center.
All the lights work fine, and it lights up like normal but network went "poof".
Typing in ip of 192.168.0.1 just says google chrome cannot connect to that page. I had to play with my Mac for awhile as it wouldn't connect by ethernet till I figured out I had to uncheck passive FTP from Proxies.
So I have bought myself a DCS-2121 with firmware 1.05, 4630. Everything works fine except that the camera does not seem to adhere my settings on the snapshots page. At average, it seems that only one image is sent to my FTP-server regardless of the interval parameters.

The scheduled recording or scheduled snapshots is not working. I am running the camera standalone and using the web based configuration, storing the images or avi's on a ftp or samba server.
No matter what i specify, it records when triggered (by motion in my setup). All the other settings like, samba, ftp, video, motion detection, and so on is working fine - but I can't configure it to only record like between 10-16 every day. It records all the time - no matter what I select and what I enter in the schedule scheme.
I have tried to open ports, but if I use the [URL], I just get the closed. I have tried to use the Viritual server function, but can`t se to get it open.

The other day I went to a friends house, came back home, booted up my PC, and my wireless network adapter wasn't working. I've tried everything to fix it.It's a D-Link DWA-525 802.11n Wireless PCI netowrk adapter. On device manager it just says 802.11 Wireless LAN Card with a yellow exclamation next to it. And when I check what the error is, it's either error 31 or 52 at different times, depending what I've tried to do to fix it.I tried downloading the driver for it off the D-Link website, nothing happens at all when I install it. I tried taking it out of my computer and plugging it in. I tried enabling it and disabling it on device manager.I noticed one thing, when it's in my computer the green light at the back that says activity next to it isn't on.

I would like to connect a device (dataloger that sends data to a remote server via internet) which only has LAN port to a wireless network on the location. I managed to do this once with WA901ND configured in Client mode (WA901ND acts like a wireless card for this data loger).Does WR941ND support this feature (which feature should I use?) or should I buy WA901ND again?
I'm using my 655 as a WAP, so nothing is connected to the WAN port. Since I run a SBS2008 in my home, I also have the 655's DHCP disabled. If I enable Network Filtering, everything inbound/outbound on the LAN ports works except accessing the Admin page. Even if I put the connecting PC's LAN MAC in the tablet.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a PC attached to a standard 192.168.1.1 router with port forwarding turned on. The PC has an IP of 192.168.1.10 and I have Port 3389 (RDP) on the router forwarded to that PC's internal IP.
I currently have a DynDNS hostname, example.dyndns.org, and I type that into MSTSC (remote desktop) whenever I'm traveling.
But, is there a better way of doing this? The IP of the PC is not static, but it rarely changes. I do have a domain registered with GoDaddy and have full access to DNS records.
192.168.1.10 --> ASA 1-----> ASA 2-------> ASA 3----> server (172.21.16.15)
We have opened 3389 , 80 & 445 ports on all firewalls ( ASA 1, ASA 2, ASA ) for server (172.21.16.15) from (192.168.1.10).We are able to see connection in ASA 1 under show connection for 3389, 445 ,80.
We are not able to see connections in ASA 2 & ASA 3 under show connection for 3389. But we are able to see hits in ACl.
So from a security standpoint... PPTP through Windows RRAS then RDP to the server?,Open port 3389 to the server and rdp direct? would think that having a VPN out front would block people from attempting a connection, but if the VPN username and RDP username are the same, I feel like its about the same.
