However I would like to exclude a few devices from having to do this. We have a couple of Kindle devices from a vendor that they configured to automatically connect to the internet for updates twice a day. But they cannot accept the policy so they are blocked.

I'd like to make exception keywords in the Access Control but I don't know how I could possibly do this. E.g. I have put in the keyword "apple" to be blocked, so if a domain has the keyword "apple" in it, it will be automatically blocked. What can I do, however, if I want to make an exception for the domain "appletree.com"? I haven't found any way to make an exception to specific domains or keywords.

Feb 7, 2013Our switch had a little crash-fest this morning at 2:30 AM. I did find a web page about diagnosing Software Forced Crash Exceptions, but it did not look like ours was one of the more easily-identifiable ones.
It may be worth noting that we've only used this switch for about a month, everything seemed fine until now. When we got the switch it did not have any GigE modules, and this week we put 2 into it and have been using them for 2 servers.
It looks like the switch was crashing repeatedly over a period of 20 minutes, and then it stopped and normalized. In the logs of the router that this switch uplinks into, we could see the ethernet port flapping during the time that the switch wasn't reachable.

Page Not Available Error
Oct 1, 2012My laptop is experiencing internet problems. I cannot connect wirelessly. It says I'm connected and my strength is excellent, but when I open google chrome i get Error 105 (ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED) unable to resolve the server's DNS address. I tried reloading and changing the settings as it says the issue might be also restarted the laptop numerously and still nothing happens.

Aug 17, 2011I have two computers connected to DSL with a modem and a 4 port ethernet switch.Only one computer is on the switch at the moment because the other is getting parts repaired. About a month or two ago, we had problems with our ISP because the main tower in town was having work done so connections were spotty.With the work being done for a month, I've still been having problems and I am not sure if it's related to my ISP or modem/ethernet port or what. I got this error when connecting: TCP/IP CP reported error 738: the server did not assign an address. It took around 10 redials for it to connect. I've gotten this error before (along with other errors I don't recall as it's been awhile) and my internet will randomly slow way down.
I just had an svchost.exe error that I got resolved via the techsupportforum virus section, where my computer would freeze when trying to connect, and I hadn't had any connecting errors for awhile. But now that the infections are gone, I am getting errors again. It seems quite odd.I rent a modem from my ISP and it stopped working before so I got a new one. They said I had hit the reset button on their modem and that was probably my problem and could have also messed up my ethernet switch. So I'm wondering if that is an issue also, as I am using the same switch with a new modem.

Feb 24, 2011networking error which seems to make no sense to me, i have computer 1 (tower computer) computer 2 (laptop computer 3 (tower computer1 & 2 have networked happily together for 4-5 years, sharing files and printers both ways. 3 was connected and happily joined the network but only with 2. 1 can see files on both 2 & 3, have now disconnected 3, have reset and rebooted router and both computers are up to date with software patches, i can not work out why 2 (or 3 before it was disconnected) can see 1 on the workgroup but can not access 1 in any way. i can, however, copy a shortcut from 1 through metwork places into 2 and access those files from 2. but network wizard or manual setting can not get full sharing.

May 23, 2012For the past week I've had a problem browsing the internet. Now, at first, this only happened starting at around 3 am central time and ending at about 6 am when I could browse the internet properly. As the days went forth, however, it began happening earlier at around 12 am. What would happen is this: would be on the internet browsing sites and whatnot. All of a sudden (As I'm loading a new page) I would get the "Address not found" error as if I'm not connected to the internet. I could try to reload any other page on my session,but sometimes it would halfway load (ei:not loading pictures, ect.) and other times I would get Address not found. This would go for about a 4 hour time period. After that, everything would be back to normal and I could go back on my session.
Now, I'm on my laptop via a router that is in my house. We also have a desktop computer, but I noticed this problem happening on my laptop first. When it first happened, it was only on my laptop. I had internet connection and could browse it endlessly on my desktop. As the days went on, however, my desktop started having the same problem connecting to the internet (I still noticed the problem on my laptop first and then I would go see if the desktop had it too).When this first happened, I was thinking my laptop wasn't connecting to my router. Instinctively, I reset the router to no avail. I also opened up IE (I don't use it much because it's just too slow) and tried to diagnose the problem using that. When I did this, it was giving me DNS as the problem of me not connecting to the internet. I am not a network admin so I don't know that much about DNS. I also used IE to diagnose the problem on the following days, but after the first time it only gave me a "You aren't connected to the internet" solution. Since then, I've been running a barrage of anti virus, rootkit, ect. just because I can and I haven't done it in a long time. I didn't find anything unusual in all the reports so I'm still not sure what the problem is.
Error Saying Cannot Display Page
Dec 3, 2011I can not connect to the internet, even though it says that Im connected. What happens is when I boot up I will get internet access for about 2-3 minutes or enough togo to about a couple web pages and then connectivity will drop and I'll get the yellow triangle with an exclamation point on my network icon. The error traingle will go away after a few minutesand say I have connection again but when I go to a site I'll get "Can not display page" error. Things Ive tried was restarting the modem and router(it cant be a problem with either of them because I have another computer hooked up to the router and I have internet access on my other computer). Ive tried resetting winsock and renewed ip, no luck. Ive tried reinstalling Windows 7 64bit then also 32 bit. Thought maybe it could be a problem with the 64 bit. Ive gotten rid of my Nortons(read that could be a problem) so I uninstalled it. Ive tried unchecking Ipv6(or whatever it is) didnt work. I looked for Bonjour file in my services, didnt have it. I even bought a new NIC and my computer recognizes it but it doesnt work either. Drivers are all up to date, so says my computer when I tried to update them.

But I had wireless problems with the modem, and they swapped out my modem, and now with the new modem, I get a 421 Login Incorrect error when it tries to connect to the FTP Server address Though this version of WS_FTP Pro is not really compatible with Windows 7, I have been using it successfully up until my modem change.It keeps giving me a "421 Login Incorrect" error. I have reset the password on the NAS, and the modem is configured to accept FTP traffic via the NAS which is connected via Ethernet to the modem. All settings are the same as on the old modem, but no FTP.

Feb 8, 2012So I'm having issues with connecting to the internet. I'm connected to the network but cannot browse the internet or play online games. Currently I'm on my housemates laptop. None of my house mates are having issues. My computer is a laptop and connects to the internet wirelessly. I don't have a cable to try connecting straight to the router unfortunately.
Last night my internet provider (Time Warner) did an update that caused all their networks to change their names/passwords. My house mate got the new name and password and when I used it it worked fine for several hours. While in the middle of a game, my internet and my housemates internet stopped working for no reason. Theirs are fine now, mine is still having issues.
I have reset the router, restarted my computer, and looked into some DNS stuff. I've done the commands ipconfig /flushdns along with ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew. I also changed my preferred DNS server to 8.8.8.8 for my Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4) and that did not work. (edit: also tried 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220. No luck there either)
I've tried turning off my firewalls and connecting but that doesn't work.
