HP just released the 8560p elitebook- not a bad shake and it actually has an integrated Serial port.Any other notebooks that have integrated serial ports?- I know the T6x Thinkpads used to use a slimbay adapter thing. I just hate the Usb adapter, and bossman said I could get a new computer here pretty soon...
View 2 RepliesI have an HP EliteBook 6930p with windows 7 installed and everything was working fine until i did a recent windows upgrade (might just be a coincidence) and i suddenly lost internet connection. My laptop picks up the router, shows full strength but i cannot connect to the internet wireless or Ethernet cable. I restored to a previous date and it worked fine, and all my other devices work fine (iPad, iPhone, other laptops). The trouble is when i connected to the internet again it up dated windows and i cant restore back to the original date anymore as it has gone from the list.
View 5 Replies View Relatedserial modem US robatics 5686G is not detected on windows server on serial port com1. i tried to restart the server . turn the modem on and off disable the com1 port reenable it again . update the firmware of modem on different workstation and connect it back to server ( couse it's working on another workstation so it's not the modem) i really don't know what to do is there a trick for this like in registry or somthing in mouse settings that mouse could actully detected on com1 and don't let the modem to show up on device manager? by the way modem cable is serial cable i tried to change the cable as well non of my ways works?

let me know the significance of txload and rxload.This router is used for MPLS connectivity.Link is working OK..but I'm not able to understand exactly what is the above txload and rxload signify.There is also one peculiar phenomena occuring, when my reliability goes down then rxload also goes down or might be vise versa.
I have a host machine (Laptop, Win 7 Home Premium x64) running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on VMWare Workstation 9. I've got this system set up for UMDF driver development, because I need a target machine to debug drivers on. However, because I'm developing drivers for Win 7 (x86 and x64), I cannot connect to the virtual machine on via a simple network connection. Connection methods are outlined here.
I have tried a few different pieces of software (mostly Eltima software), and have Google'd every combination of phrases that I can think of. I can't find any information on this anywhere. I don't just need to share data between the machines, I need a more "physical" connection.
Does any know how to do this, or if there's another (preferably more simple) way of doing it?
I have two 2950 Switches and am trying to connect via my laptop. My laptop doesn't have a serial port so I am trying to connect through the ethernet port, with a straight through cable and on the end as it goes into the console port I have bought a cisco console rollover adapter.When I turn on terra term I get nothing...just a black screen and it disconnects.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat I am trying to do is port forward certain ports so the servers I'm trying to run will allow other people to connect.So far I got no where since I got a new ISP. They can't provide any assistance since I use a netgear router. One of their tech support said their modem has a built in router. The rest all said no. I noticed that the IP in CMD when I type ipconfig /all is 192.168.1.(15-47) it switches every now and then. But that is a local IP. Wouldn't that single that the modem is already routing the IP? When I put my router on it switches to 10.0.0.(2-55). These are all local IP's though. Does the modem have an integrated routing feature? Verizon really sucks so far. They can't answer their own questions without conflicting with each other.
The modem is getting the IP, and putting it into a local IP (What I believe is a routing feature) for the network. Now the local IP goes to the netgear wireless router, and gets routed again (Changed the local IP to 10.0.0.?). The netgear only got a Local IP the first time however, so the external IP is not being... worked with in the netgear router. It is trying to port forward for the local IP address, which already works for me obviously, however it is not a WAN IP address and therefore no one else is able to connect to any of my servers.And lastly, verizon states they have only "Modems" and "Wireless routers" so if they have no modems that doesn't come with this feature, then I need to learn how to port forward while the IP is being routed twice, similarly to when you have two routers hooked into each other.
Bought a Vostro 220S about 2 months ago. After about three weeks, while I'm using it, the integrated NIC dies. All of a sudden I get the "Network Cable Disconnected" pop-up. No LEDs lit by the network jack. Contact Dell support who decides it's the motherboard.Three days later, the exact same failure. Contact support again. This time they want me to re-install Windows (yeah...right). I refused since the motherboard fixed it the first time. They finally agree to replace the motherboard again. Using the same router and cable that worked for years with my old computer. After the first failure, I switched ports on the router. While waiting for the motherboard replacements, I had installed an old PCI NIC I had laying around. Worked fine...still is. I'm not about to re-install Windows, which is what I know they'll want. I'll stick with the PCI card. Both of the people at Dell support as well as the tech they sent out told me they've not seen this before.

Noother elctronics, even my 2 other DELL computers were affected. I've eliminated the NIC cables, router port, everything but the actual NIC card. But diagnostics say it's working properly. Could a registry entry have been corrupted (I have a registry backup the day before). Can I replace the Integrated NIC with an internal (or external) NIC? I'm running XP Professional SP3.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a client that that is installing a new network. They have requested the use of an CISCO891W-AGN-A-K9 mostly to be consistent with upgrades perfomed at other sites. I agree with the use of this router, so that's OK. The issue is that they have requested that I use the integrated PoE available on this model. I'm also OK with this as it will make a much neater installation. However, I can't seem to find much information on how to get the integrated PoE. I need clarification as to whether I can get a kit to upgrade this router. I generally purchase from sites like newegg or cdw (I'm an independent contractor) and I can't seem to find one with it. I have found some information on 800-IL-PM-4 and 800-ILPM-4 (who could confuse those ). Are they the same or different? Which one is the correct one and does it include the AC power adapter and can if be retro'ed into a router without the PoE?

I'm interested in considering any configuration changes while still maintaining support for N. I've included a copy of my running config.As well, I've heard of high gain antennas. 1. Is it OK to upgrade to SWLC3750K9-5-2-193-0.aes ? or do I need to go through 4.2 first ?
2. Will that code upgrade the bootloader at the same time?
3. How can I make sure there is enough flash space on the WLC?
4. Are there any special considerations to plan/prepare for?
