View 3 RepliesI have an arris modem from the ISP company and it works good, bat it is NO wireless model. So I have purchased arris WITH the wireless capability myself and ISP refused to support it so my guess that I need somehow to clone their old modem to my new one.
View 4 Replies View RelatedToday I got a new modem brought from Insight my ISP.
Modem: Arris TG862
Router: Cisco Linksys E1200
What happened is I connected to the modem's configuration page and turned off dhcp for all of the options because I wanted my router to do this, but after doing this and saving my settings, I can no longer connect to the internet or the modem no matter what I try. I really don't want to call insight when they just brought the modem.
I've been trying to connect my laptop directly to my Arris modem with an ethernet cable to get on the internet, but for some reason every time I do I have "limited access" and can't get on the internet. I can only seem to get my laptop on the internet while the wireless router is connected to the modem and then either connecting wirelessly or by connecting my laptop to the wireless router with an ethernet cable.I want to connect to the internet without my wireless router, because someone was hacking our router and was apparently doing illegal downloads. We got a cease and desist letter that said our internet will be terminated if it happens again, so I want to connect to the internet without any wireless connections being set up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI got a new modem from the cable company Arris TG862G. This is a wireless modem and I had them set everything up on their end which is now after 2 hours with them on the phone working fine. The problem I'm having is somewhere in my computer is my guess and their guys didn't know which way was up so i gave up on them fixing my issue. So here I am. I have a custom built computer that is using a Gigabyte mobo and has been working fine with the on board Ethernet card before now. I used to have the desktop plugged into an Arris modem via a Belkin router and this set up worked fine. I also took the current modem and plugged it into the Belkin N600 router and then to my computer and to my complete bewilderment it worked fine. I wanted to get rid of the router so I could see if I could get faster download speeds (That initial issue being on speed tests I get 50mb/s and on actual downloads I would only get 5mb/s).
I got it to work (I have no idea how) for about 20 minuets. When I restarted the computer it stopped working. I am now back to square one which is the desktop not even recognizing that there is a cord plugged in. I know the cord is fine and the ports are fine as well that isn't the issue. My laptop connected just fine to the Ethernet cord with no issue. I have uninstalled the Belkin software to see if that was the issue and no change. Everything wireless works just fine, it is just this Ethernet connection that is FUBARed, and again ONLY with the desktop.I am running Windows 7 ultimate. I am about to QQ and just deal with the 5mb/s downlods because that's not terrible but I got greedy.I was messing with the Ethernet wire some and it started picking up the router but never tried to connect to the internet, I'm going to try other wires but I don't think that's the issue.
OK so another update ladies and gents: my desktop has been on for about 40 minuets now and it is connected to the modem. I have done nothing to it that would cause this and it just randomly happened. Short of never turning my computer off again which would be hell on my power bill what can I do to fix this problem? On speedtest.net I'm only getting 30.48 Mb/s and as I said earlier I should be getting around 50mb/s (which is what I get on on the wireless laptop). I just restarted it and it wouldn't connect to the modem again.
First of all, this is how my connection looks like:
PC & Xbox 360 -> Router (Linksys WRT54GL with DD-WRT firmware) -> Modem (Arris TM602B) Everything is working just fine, except for every now and then (sometimes a few times per day), when my modem decides to "stop working" for a second or two. I do not know if it is exactly the modem, but i guess that it is.
What happens, is that for a second or two, all the lights on modem stop blinking or turns off, except "Power", "DS" and "US". Those lights stays turned on. After a second or two, all the lights continues working normally.
It would not even be that big of an issue, as i would not mind if my internet radio has stopped working for a second or if i had to wait a second before continuing with browsing the web, but it becomes an annoying issue, while i am playing video games on Xbox Live. This is what causes me to disconnect from an online game, even though, everything works normally after - until it happens again.
I just switched ISPs and received a new modem, unfortunately I can't seem to connect my laptop online with this. Everything else connects fine, but something is up with my computer, it connects fine wirelessly to the modem, it just doesn't have a proper internet connection.I'm running windows 7, the modem is an Arris TG862.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out whats wrong with my parents apple airport router. Its connected into an Arris TM402P/110 cable modem. It randomly stops working, the network is there and shows up fine but you cant connect to it. It might work for a day or 2 and then just stops. I am trying to figure out if there is a configuration issue or the airport hardware is just failing. I am not sure where to start troubleshooting. The event log for the modem isnt much help, the following message shows up occasionally:
No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out
Whats interesting is my mom plugged her desktop right into the cable modem and then after plugging it back into the airport the wireless was working again. Is it possible there is a DHCP issue? If the hardware is failing what would be a good replacement for the airport?

I use the DIR for WiFi as well I have it connected to my TV and Xbox.I use the ARRIS Modem for WiFi as well I have it connected to another Xbox and a Desktop computer.I want to have everything on 1 network, Dir-655 uses IP address 192.168.0.1-100 and the ARRIS uses ranges 10.0.0.1-100. I want to be able to connect to the dir-655 and have the IP for that connection join up with the 10.0.0... network so that I will be able to transfer files freely throughout the network.
I want everything on one network. Right now when I connect a laptop to the DIR-655, I can not access the printer that is connected to the Desktop on the ARRIS modem. I have to connect to the ARRIS modems WiFi to then use the printer on the desktop.Likewise, I want to use the media extender on the Xbox connected to the DIR-655 with the Desktop connected the the ARRIS modem, but I can not because of the to different networks.
I am at my wits end.Comcast just changed my old RCA cable modem for an Arris Telephony modem.(I had Comcast phone service added)The tech that did the install said the wireless G network was all up and running. (My 3 other computers and printer) Well lo and behold the network does not work at all. I only get internet through my wired computer and cannot access my router through 192.168.1.1 anymore.I tried powering down the router and modem by holding the reset for 30 seconds and unplugging them.

Here are my network speeds with The e1000: (wireless) And here are the speeds with my old wrt54g: (Wireless) Here are the results directly hooked up to the modem: (wired)
I've tried setting the MTU to 1500, did a RMA with Linksys to see if it was a hardware problem, did a firmware update to the e1000, disabled DHCP and SPI, reseted my router and my modem....none of those things have worked

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an issue that has been going on for a week. My computer in question is a dell 4500. My internet service went out so I contacted Comcast. the first tech on the phone had told me my router was bad so I got a new one from their office, hooked it up and still had no internet. the last tech replaced the new modem twice and router saying the same thing He could not get my dell4500 to connect (Ethernet port on the back of the pc shows the green light), all my other devices where finally able to connect and go online through LAN and wireless so the modem (Arris wbm760 is good and so is the router (Netgear wgr614 v8). I have a 169.254... in ipconfig. I've release ( which releases) but when I renewed I get "an error occured while renewing interface local area connection : unable to contact your DHCP Server. Req has timed out" this has been the continous error. I tried the steps here How to determine and to recover from Winsock2 corruption in Windows Server 2003, in Windows XP, and in Windows Vista to no avail (both the automatic fix and the manual steps). I also ran a winsocK fix that I found on a post, nothing. So I wiped my computer and installed windows xp which I've done plenty of times before. Installed and updated all drivers, and now I show an Ethernet connection but I still can't get online. packets sent but no packets received, I've retried all above steps and still at the same spot but get same results, ie ipconfig renew gives same error.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently received my Arris modem from comcast and during the installation phase I kept looking for an option to change the wifi mode from b/g/n to n only as all my network adapters connecting via wireless are n types and I want the max speed available from the modem. At no time did the option come up to define. So I finished the set-up and eveyone is connected, albeit at 54 Mpbs.I have accessed the modem via 10.0.0.1 after set-up in search of another option where I can revise the wifi mode. No luck. Comcast gave me the backhand lob over to Arris and Arris followed through with an overhead smash at the net.

Now, I run an Ethernet cord from the router to my computer: the computer works just fine. As of a day ago, though, none of the home's Apple devices will connect to the network, despite reboots, password retypes, and shouting at them. Each device (two phones and an ipad) can identify my network, but they cannot join. Additionally, there is an old laptop that cannot connect anymore.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi have rented a Flordia condo that has a ARRIS Modem model TM402P-110 that is available for my use to connect my laptop via an Ethernet hard wired connection. I understand that this is also a telephony modem that provides the phone service to the condo. The service provider for both the internet and phone servcice is Brightouse.
Will I have any issues connecting my Linksys E2500 router to this modem should I want to use my laptop wirelessly as well as my other wireless devices.
My old modem from Roadrunner (Time Warner) died and the service man replaced it with a Arris TG852 modem/router. then my problems began. I would like to have the Arris modem act like a modem and not a router. The network governed by the DIR works fine but none of the clients can connect to the internet. Below are the steps I have tried.in both steps below, The DIR is connected to the Arris using the Ethernet not the Wan port.
1. I tried disabling DHCP on the Arris router and setting a static IP address for the DIR router. This worked for a bit and then quit. Some of the computers said there were duplicate IP addresses on the network. If fact the same IP address showed up in the DNS list of the Arris and the DIR routers.. even though the Arris router had DNS disabled.
2. After reading other forums. I enabled DHCP on the Arris and set it to passout IP address between 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.99. I then setup the DOR to pass out addresses between 192.168.0.100 and 192.168.0.200. then moved the DIR into the DMZ of the Arris. Still no access to the internet.
Currently have a linksys wrt54gs connected to an Arris TG852G/CT. Currently getting poor speed via WIFI for Comcast Xfinity service. The Arris modem is connected directly to the Linksys Wireless Broadband Router via Ethernet. It lists the linksys broadband router as unknown device and does need utilize the 54 mb/s g standard available on this device. I have updated the firmware to 1.52, reseted the Arris gateway to factory defaults, and reset the linksys to factory defaults as well. The IP address is 192.168.1.1 for the linksys/ 10.0.0.1 for the Arris gateway. How do I improve connectivity between the Arris Gateway and the LinkSys broadband router (model WRT54GS ver 6.0)

Alright so, for the past few weeks, the modem has been resetting itself, by that I mean, I am browsing the net/playing something, then the four lights turn into 1 blinking.. then 2 blinking.. then 3 blinking.. then return to 4 lights and I get my connection back, this is happening every 5-10 minutes and terminates game sessions.

My dial-up connection just couldn't handle all the garbage they try to push down through your internet connection these days.
Well, yesterday my new ZyXEL PK5000z modem was delivered, so I followed the instructions and hooked it up to one of my computers. All the lights on the front of the modem turned green, but I was unable to connect to the internet from the computer I had the modem connected to.I tried disabling my software firewall and my LAN, to no avail.I called CenturyLink tech support and they told me that from their end they could see that my modem was working just fine, so the problem was in my computer and so I'm on my own trying to make it work.
The computer I've connected the DSL modem to is a Dell Inspiron 1150 running Windows XP Home.I have that computer connected to two other computers via a network switch and have a dial-up modem installed on it.
I've been recently having problems with my modem, the DSL light shuts off even if my cable is correctly connected to my phone socket. This mostly happens when I'm playing games.
