Ticketing System On Web Server In DMZ Or Behind DMZ
Mar 25, 2011
I'm wondering what the best security practice would be for implementing a ticketing system. Since the tickets are going to contain notes and other information that the person who generated the ticket is not going to see but internal staff are, I am concerned about placing it in the DMZ with/where the web server is. As far as I can tell this particular ticketing system doesn't require a SQL database, so that makes the line blur a little on whether or not it would be OK to put it in a DMZ.

I'm trying to setup a DVR camera system and two web page server boxes behind a Linksys WRT54GL. The problem I have is that all of the devices want to use port 80 to generate the web page. Individually, I can get the boxes to work, but when I try to put it all together everything seems to fall apart. I've got to the DVR set to External port 80, Internal Port 80 IP address 192.168.1.254. The web page server box I try to set to External port 8001, Internal port 80, IP address 192.168.1.200, when I try to save this setting I get the error message Internet IP address and LAN IP address are in the same subnet. If I change the web page server settings to External port 8001, Internal port 8001, IP address 192.168.1.200, it will save the settings, but it won't work that way because it won't actually generate a web page when I try to access that port. The error message doesn't seem to make since as all I'm changing is the port number, not the IP address or subnet mask.

The problematic PC is AMD triple core, with ASUS M3N78 motherboard and xp professional. PC should connect to internet through the router, TP-Link TL WR340GD, along with 3 other PCs which are all working fine. Basically, the PC caught a virus and I performed system restore. After that, the PC was working fine, except that there was no internet connection. I tried to reset winsock from command promp, but that did not sort the connection problem.I noticed that the yellow light on the back of the tower, for the ethernet cable connection, is yellow when the cable is not plugged in, however, as soon as I plug the ethernet cable in, the light disappears. The same cable is working fine when connected to other PCs so it does not seem to be the cable problem. The information in Network Connections says Limited or no connectivity. Full messages when prompted says: "You might not be able to access the internet or some network resources. The problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer. To restart the connection and try to establish full connectivity, cliick Repair." and then, after clicking repair, it says:"Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed:Renewing your IP address. For assistance contact the person who manages your network."I also tried to release and renew IP address from command promp, but that did not work either.

So I just got a new Acer ultrabook and it was working fine until a few days ago. It keeps saying the DNS lookup failed. I've tried everything I can. I made sure it wasn't chrome, doesn't work in Firefox. Reset the modem, did a DNS dump, set the DNS to a 888thing. Utorrent is connecting to the internet fine and I can connect for random periods of time. If I do trouble shoot over and over eventually it starts working. Everyone else in my house gets internet even my sister with the same computer and model.

why our PBX system would freeze up the phones. There is no real reason why this happens. We have the PBX on its own circuit board, so its not sharing any power, we only have about 200 phones on the system, so that is not the issues. Its properly cooled. It just seems to happen that our phones freeze, and when they start freezing it seems to happen in pairs.

All the systems can access one another except for one system which cannot access any other system although it can see the other systems in the workgroup. It can ping to all the systems. The error message is \computer is not accessible. You might not have permission to access this network resource. Contact the administrators of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Th server service is not started. But i checked that the service is running on all the systems.

This is happening to me to multiple computers on my domain. When it happens i can only log in as a local user or if I unplug the network cable, log in and then re-connect the networkThe time on all these machines is correct within at least 1 minute but still it's throwing off this error. When reading about this problem I see many fixes that all relate to how to sych the time on the PC.

We use Nortel VPN and the problem is that it's set so when you connect to it, you can only access company resources so no Internet. To mitigate that we use vmware and run Windows XP at the same time as our Windows 7 systems. I'd love to be able to use remote desktop though and connect to a system located elsewhere even another office computer and have that one on the VPN, but of course as soon you connect the remote desktop connection goes down with it.I'm just wondering if there's any ways around this. I'm assuming not, but I'm not sure how VPN fully works. Like if I had 2 network cards in the remote system, when I VPN in does it block connections from all network cards? Ideally I'd like to use something like Amazon Web Services since their Windows Server tier has the free option which is good, or will use another VPS type system running Windows Server.

I've been getting a popup error message for about a week:"There is an ip address conflict with aother system on the network". This is only for 2 desktop PCs with wired ethernet connections. Wireless devices are fine with no error message. The wired LAN PCs basically lose all network capability. Reboot fixed it, but it returned every time it was rebooted.I have a Virgin Media Superhub with another router configured as an access point. To cut a long story short, after trying to reset everything, re-installing network adapters & swapping ports, I decided to set the Superhub to Modem Mode, and re-configure the access point router to act as a standard wireless router. In other words renewing the whole network's LAN IP addresses.I now don't lose network capability, but the error message is still appearing on both wired LAN PCs. I use the Fing app on my android phone which lists IP addresses for all devices on the network, wired and wifi, and no 2 addresses are the same, which suggests that DNS is doing its job.

I use a dongle from my ISP as my main internet connection source. I needed to do a full system restore because one of the windows system files got corrupted. After the restore, my internet connection was extremely slow. I restarted the computer and I got my normal fast speed but only for about 10 minutes and it is now very slow again (about 10 mins to load Google home page, for example).Internet speed was never an issue before the restore. Also I tried the dongle on my work laptop at home and it's fine.I'm using Windows XP. I've tried everything suggested at Slow Computer/Internet AFTER complete system restore but it is still slow.

My old Actiontec M1000 modem recently died and my HP nc6120 with windows XP can not connect to the wireless network through the new Actiontec C1000A model. It connected wirelessly through the old M1000 moden. Window icons on the screen indicate no wireless network is detected. When I view the available networks and log in to the assigned network with its password, it looks like it is trying to connect but does not. It will connect through the ethernet link-up. I don't have any other wireless devices to connect to the network. I have updated the drivers for the wireless card through HP. I have taken the HP nc6120 to the Geek Squad and the wireless card connects with their network. I seem to have a compatibility problem with the old HP with its XP windows operating software and the new modem system. I have tried to reset the ip addresses, but this has had no effect. However, I do have purchased AVG protection software operating on the system, which I am not sure how to shut off. Is this a problem with a too advanced modem for an old style HP with an XP operating system? Is there a modem that I can downgrade to if it is? [code]
