I have quest dsl internet service. in the rural area i live it's the best i can do. I have a leftover netgear CG3000D cable modem. can I use that netgear somehow to wifi my home for my android phone, using the quest net service?

Which ever machine got online first got the open nat type. i've tried DMZ host with port forwarding for both machines to no success. We have a netgear modem router from charter cable. the model number I believe is CG3000D. she was on a wireless network and i was wired straight to the modem router.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have a BRAND NEW Netgear CG3000D-RG wireless router (modem). We have had this modem for just about two months, and have 3 laptops in the house and a XBox 360. We have screaming signal @ 50 megs. However my wifes Compaq Laptop keeps kicking her off the internet. The homepage will load, and sometimes MAYBE one more screen. But then nothing else will load, and the signal bars at the bottom right of the screen get an exclamation point. No other computers have ANY problems, nor does the XBox (which is the only thing that is actually hardwired).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't get a new IP from my ISP when my Cable modem router(EPC3925) is set to router mode, i have tried factory restore, unplugged etc..but still no luck. It changes each time i reset it when i set it to bridged only mode but then i won't be able to connect other devices to it since it doesn't uses DHCP in bridged only mode. It changes back to the IP i had when i set it to router mode. I don't want to change my router settings to bridged only because it would disconnect the other devices in my house. Why my ISP assigns the same IP address when it's set to router mode but assigns different IPs when it's set to bridged only, how is this possible ?

I have a wireless modem (e3200) connected to the cable modem. My wireless devices pull a 198.x.x.x ip address. Can connect to the internet just fine, BUT..Because of this (im assuming) I cannot add my printer to my wireless laptop. Connection through LAN is fine into desktop however the minute we try to connect an additional wireless router the connection fails. We have even put the LAN from the second Wireless into the desktop and there is no connectivity.We have had a technician come to sort the problem, they advise that they have no explanation as to why the LAN works from the distance but the wireless does not. They have suggested that we need to cut the CAT5 half way and put an antenna up to connect the two routers.

I am trying to connect a Netgear wirless router to my cable modem. I have followed the instructions on the set up wizard but it fails to get a connection with the IP and DNS info I provide.I got the IP address info by connecting intially direct from the modem to the PC and then went to Run CMD and type ipconfig /all. I then started the set up wizard and followed the instructions, turning things on in specific order etc. After input the IP and DNS info it reports an error and tells me to check the address information is correct.My internet is a static IP connection (so it tells me and the IP information doesn't change).

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have kids in the house and I'd like to limit their internet access to certain times of the day but because of the great amount of devices they use (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) the only way I could think of doing that easily was to set up two wireless networks: one that the adults could use 24/7 and the other that the kids could access during certain set hours.
Here's the equipment I'm working with:
DLink DIR 615 wireless router
DLink DIR 515 wireless router
Motorola Surfboard cable modem S85101U
I plugged the DLink 615 in, set it up for DHCP client and plugged it into the cable modem. I lef the default 192.168.0.1 IP address for the device. On that router, I also reserved the 192.168.0.199 IP address and assigned it to the DLink 515.I also gave the DLink 515 device the IP 192.168.1.1 so I could administer it.I set the DLink 515 to static IP and made the IP 192.168.0.199 and the default gateway 192.168.0.1.I plugged the DLink 515 into one of the LAN ports in the DLink 615.I set a schedule on the DLink 615 to shut down internet access to the DLink 515 at a certain hour and turn it back on at another time.Everything seems to work ok, but at least once a day we have to unplug and plug the routers to reset them.
Our router is connected through a cable modem and If I connect my computer directly wired to the cable modem, I have no problem, it does not disconnect at all.In comes the router in between, when I connect the router and connect my computer through the router WRT54G2, it works initially then I get disconnected after about 1-2 hours. This is very regular. I have a temporary solution by resetting the router via two ways:
1. Go to the admin page, and perform a release and renew IP method.
2. Simply power off the router and then on again.
I have an EA2700 (fimware "classic" 1.0.14.129982) that used to work perfectly fine with a Comcast cable modem. I just recently switched to Charter with an Arris TM902 modem and that's where the problems started. The cable modem will not recognize my router. I have to plug in a computer into the cable model when it starts up. Then I need to clone the MAC address and restart the router (after disconnecting the computer). Why isn't the cable modem recognizing the router when I restart it? I guess this could work if it would be a one time thing but I had to power-cycle the modem and it stopped recognizing the router even with the cloned MAC address. So I had to do the whole spiel again.
Is there any way to make this work easier? Should I update my router's firmware to the "smart" one?

so i have a sb6141 cable modem that is mine and not a lease. it works like a champ when hard wired to my desktop. i just got my hands on a new shiny tp-link wdr4300 yesterday and after messing with it for the better part of 2 hours, something seems to be amiss with the communication between the two. everything will be humming along fine and all of a sudden i get the dreaded PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED. sure as the world i look at the modem and all the lights are off and its resetting itself. and honestly this continues until i pull the power and plug it back up. i think maybe one time in the middle of the night i actually saw it reset itself and then come back online.
I have WAG54G2 wireless modem. It has been working perfectly until I formatted my desktop computer and reinstalled Windows XP. Now I want to reinstall my modem but is gives this error:"Error 322 New Router or Gateaway Not Detected"The old wireless configuration still works with my laptop, but I am afraid of losing my wireless connection so I did not reset the modem. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT54GS, version 6 with Mac OS X (version 10.6.8) hooked up to a Scientific Atlantic cable modem, with RCN as the ISP.
Recently, RCN had some network issues, and so I had to power down and reset my modem. The modem is working fine now -- no problems at all when the Mac is connected direclty to the modem.
The router's network is OK in that I can connect the Mac wirelessly to the network, but I can't connect to the internet through the router (through neither the wireless or wired connection).
I have downloaded the latest firmware update for the router, following the Linksys site instructions.
I did call Linksys tech support on the advice of RCN, and they said that the router does appear to be working (power, WLAN, and Internet lights are on), but they would be charging me nearly the cost of a new router to fix the problem.
I want to create a DMZ by having a less sophisticated router connected to cable modem, which would have the webserver which contains no sensitive information, and then the EA3500 to which my laptops and desktops which contain sensitive information would connect to. Can CCC work through that first router?
