So is there a way to maintain our normal download & upload speed even when all 3 of us are online ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy desktop recently broke so i bought my first laptop. I have AT&T DSL and i bought a new D-Link DSL-2640B modem/router so i could have wireless internet. I installed it and i was able to use it with the ethernet cable, however when i tried to use wifi, it worked for only about 2 minutes before it disconnected.. Now when i try again it says that it is connected (full 5 bars) but it also says there is no internet access and i cannot use the internet.
Also, before, with the old modem i was able to just connect the ethernet cable to the laptop and just start using the internet. Now i have to connect by putting in my username and password provided by my ISP almost like if it was dial up. I don't know why i have to do this now but not before.

I just moved into a new house.The house is wired with cat5e.my plan was to connect my cable modem to a multiport router. All of the cat5e cables will connect here. I planned on having my wireless router connect into a cat5e rj45 plug in the house. my laptop knows the wireless is there but it can't communicate.What do I need to do to allow communication?IP and subnet addressing

I just bought a WRT54GL router, and am following the CD instructions for installation. Everything is connected according to picture (cable to modem to router to computer), and my phone and computer are working properly. However, the router is telling me that it cannot connect, and to check the ethernet connection.earlier a screen popped up to enter a password, but it was under the checking status screen, so I was not able to enter one. how to get the modem connected.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I have a Westell 7500 Modem/Router with Century Link DSL. I've been running a couple of laptops and my wifi enabled TV on the wireless. A few days ago I got a new desktop PC (Windows 7) and plugged the ethernet cable into it. Everything was great but the wireless was a bit slow for the TV so I plugged that in with an ethernet cable too. No problems for a few days. Today, we had a power blip and everything reset and I noticed that the internet light on the modem was solid red and I couldn't access the internet on any machine (ethernet or wifi). I called the ISP who said there was an outage in the area. A few hours later, solid green light on the modem BUT the TV (ethernet connected), my iphone, and my laptops could NOT connect, despite the network showing up with a full signal. Oddly, my new PC, connected via ethernet was fine so I played some Diablo (side note). Here's the deal: the new PC connects just fine but nothing else will. If I unplug the ethernet cable to the PC or disable the LAN connection, the red internet light appears on the modem. It seems as though the PC has hijacked the modem in some way. Even the TV won't connect with the ethernet cable. The only way the internet works now is if the modem is connected to the new PC. I've done all the resents - unplugged the modem and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, accessed the router settings, etc etc. Why would this start happening now after everything was working well for several days and how do I fix it? I need the wifi connection! Update: Plugged my Macbook Pro into the ethernet cable (took it out of new PC) and it works.

He just got the home phone service from comcast and the phone line is setup through the modem. Ever since comcast came to his apartment and set this up the home phone service to his modem the router is connected but there is no internet access. What is going on and how can I fix this. I own a Broadcom BCM5354-based wireless router (Tomato 1.27 flashed) and an Aztech DSL605E modem. When both are powered up, the wireless router sometimes doesn't get internet access because the modem automatically logs itself in. I have to plug the modem cable to my laptop, manually disconnect the modem, and plug the modem cable back to the router to fix it.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a adsl modem tp link td 8840, and i had this up and running well for about 3 days. then we decided to get a router cause my little sis got a ipad2.the router is dlink dir 61.so basically i followed all the instructions and the internet was working fine.then for some reason ign site stopped working, i thought that it was down for some reason and didn't think much of it and today when i tryed to go into hotmail or facebook it doesn't work either. so i can get into the log in pages of both, but when i put in the id and password, the screen goes blank and just says waiting for .... on the bottom (using google chrome).and it never loads.i tryed with other internet browsers and it din't work so i took out the router and re wired the adsl modem only and voila. all the sites started working again.i want to use my router but i don't know why i can't acess some sites when i have it connected.

My Toshiba laptop can't get connected to the wireless ADSL modem router TD-W8960N. I have 4 different laptops and one desktop, all connected to the router very well, only the Toshiba cannot get on Internet. I can connect to the wireless network on the laptop, but it shows limited access.
I was very happy working with my WRT610N connected to the ethernetport of my previous internet modem. Recently I had to switch to a new modem CISCO EPC3925. Unfortunately this combination does not work anymore. I don't get an internet connection on my WRT610N anymore. I therefore have to connect all computers (LAN and WIFI) to this EPC3925. Especially for the WIFI I'm not fully happy. My IPAD2 sometimes does not want to connect, a problem which never occurred when connecting to WRT610N.
I probably need to change a setting, but where? In the EPC3925 or in WRT610N?
I have DOCSIS 3.0 modem and a Linksys E1000 wireless router with which I get reults from SpeedTest of 8.6 mps down, 1.57 mps up up from 15 mps service from cable provider. Connected to modem via ethernet cable produces 16.0 speeds. Do I need to upgrade the router or are my settings wrong?

When I run a speed test on my comp I get 10-13 mbps download on average. Here's the issue, upon visiting my mothers house and running the same speed test I got very similar results. She is running a Lynksys G router on a DOCIS 2.0 cable modem with 12mps connection. My question is, how can this be so, am I at the limits of my comps g network card? as a disclaimer I would like to note I am connected to the G band on both routers.

However, the internet still not working. When I use my laptop to browse the internet, it said the same thing, internet connected but cannot browse at all.
I tried so many things, such as clearing the DNS cache, releasing and renewing IP address, I did set the properties of the wireless connection to obtain DNS and IP automatically, I tried pinging, I turned off all my firewalls, I tried system restore, but still not working.
I run cmd /all, it got the following information:

Later on, I did restart everything again, the packets that I received only 26, and didn't receive anything at all.
From last two days, my internet disconnecting frequently. Modem catching correct ip but no internet connection.modem catches correct ip address n other things, it shows connected to home network (i.e hathway) and internet access is allowed but browser display error 'webpage is not available' (same result for login page of ISP). I have tried different browsers but same result. windows network diagnosis center results as "your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource is not responding " OR "login.hathway.com is online but still not responding after couple of tries"(second error is not correct word to word tht was the over all meaning of it)In ping test, ping to default gateway gives very good result as 5-20ms but 'request time out' for url...So am not understanding whether it is my pc's problem or from ISP.I m using single pc with wired modem. windows 7 no changes made in network n sharing center.

During the time I was out my brother said it hadn't worked for the 2 days. The modem works fine and all lights are green when my desktop is turned off or not connected. It even lets my brother use wireless on his laptop. However, when I turn on my computer or when I connect it to the modem with an ethernet cord, the DSL light will go red and not work.

The Cable ISP can ping the modem and gave me the IP address over the phone. I cannot ping the modem even when I take the router out of the loop. One router will be for public wifi at my business and the other will be for my Point of sale system and private use. I think I have it figured out but want to double check the set up. Someone tell me if this isn't correct or if there's a better way of doing it.Cable modem --> connect via ethernet to Router #1 WAN port. Router #1 Lan port 1: connect via ethernet to router #2 WAN. Now, router 1 and 2 will have two different subnets; 192.168.1.x and 192.168.2.x respectively. Router #2 is the one that I should use for my private network and for the POS system since it can't be accessed by users from router #1 correct? I have DD-WRT installed on both routers but I plan on putting Tomato firmware for router #1 to limit bandwidth for public wifi and keep DD-WRT installed for router #2.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using my DIR-655 for about 2 weeks now with Road Runner wideband services. Starting yesterday my internet became very slow and I discovered the cause was the router. I tried resetting it to factory settings and things will be fine and run smoothly for about 5-15 minutes but after that it goes back to being extremely slow. My speed tests would go from 10ms (normal) to 250-450ms. Before this issue occurred the Dlink was perfect, had full speeds. I am running a wire Ethernet connection.
I am currently using revB and tried upgrading firmware to 2.01NA which had no effect, but make my internet seemingly go back to normal for the first few minutes then nosedive again. I have also changed my speed/duplex settings in Network Config to 1gbs Full Duplex. I've also disabled QoS, and still no change. Not sure what else to do. When directly connected to the modem everything seems fine. The modem is also the provided Motorola SBG6580 which I have called Time Warner to set the modem into bridge mode and have the DIR-655 connected to it.
