View 2 RepliesThe other day I had no problem accessing the internet with my ethernet browser, however yesterday, I couldn't access the internet anymore ( I only have ethernet browsers' instanleed in my computer). I sure have internet connection, I can even click the 'ethernet' but it doesn't continue uploading and there's this small black message box telling about 'memory'...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had my HP laptop for 2.5 years now, originally bought with Vista 64 bit. It now has Windows 7. Up until now, internet access and connectivity have been working fine. But, all of the sudden today, I couldn't get Internet Access despite trying both an ethernet port and a wireless connection (connectivity was working.) I know it's something with the laptop, because my ASUS netbook has no problem accessing the internet. I've tried looking around at some of these tech support sites and haven't really found anything that's worked for me. I've tried using CCleaner to remove any temp files and clean the registry, and resetting internet settings in the command box, but still I get nothing.

But the same connection is working fine on other laptop. I checked the device manager and every looks working fine.In my ipconfig /all details, my Eternet LAN physical address shows all zeroes and has no default gateway address .Also the DNS servers address shows some alphabets instead of numbers.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop running windows XP Professional x32 SP3 and my network adapter is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. The desktop is connected to the network with an ethernet cable.Up until yesterday the internet connectivity just stopped working. I am seeing a very low number of received packets as opposed to the high number when it was working. It is showing that it is connected to the network but I still can't access the internet. Also I should mention that the desktop is at work and it is connected to a DHCP server that assigns IP addresses. I have updated all the drivers and I have used Winsock Fix and Netsh but it still isn't working. However the weird thing is that if assign a static IP address to it...it works. But I can't do this because I am not suppose to hook it up to the ports assigned to the switch for static IP's. It has to be connected to the DHCP switch. Why does it work when assigned a static but not if it gets an IP assigned by the DHCP server or switch. Also even if I try to reset, renew or release the IP...when I connect again it still gives me the same IP. It wont change.

I'm currently with Bigpond Cable with a CGD24N router and cannot connect the desktop with the ethernet. My laptop works with the ethernet and wireless The router shows the connection as red/orange on the desktop when it should be yellow for 10mbps or green for 100mbps, is this a fault of the router, computer or possible virus?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI do not have access to internet (I'm on some unsecured internet from around here now, very slow). When I start the internetdiagnostics from windows, he says it's the modem or the connection from laptop, router, modem to internet. However, the lights indicating internet and dsl on the modem are brightly burning and the router shows nothing abnormal too.
I have a WPA2-PSK security, the modem is Zyxel. Also, the ethernetcable portal on my laptop is broken, so I can't do anything non-wireless. My phone has the same problem with this internet, it can get a connection, but no internet.
A week ago I couldn't use wireless on my hp laptop. I have netgear76 and win 7. now the only way I can access is via Ethernet. I've tried the netgear genie instructions and reset the router and as soon as I remove the Ethernet cord i'm no longer connected.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm running on windows 7 professional with a realtek gigabit ethernet port. It's a gateway SX2370. It originally came with home premium and a bunch of bloatware so I restored with pro. I thought I installed all the drivers but a few minutes after bootup, the ethernet breaks. It works for a few minutes, as I can access the internet, and then itt gives me the no internet access error. I used a usb wireless card and that works after bootup, but doesn't run as nearly as fast as my gigabit ethernet.

What should I do to get the additional 3 outputs I need? Can I just plug a switch into my router for the additional ones I need? Or do I need a router with additional ports?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI hear a lot these days about ethernet deployment in metropolitan areas as access networks. Does this mean that there would be one big optical ethernet LAN (or MAN if you prefer) with fiber to the home connected by switches? Wouldn't this lead to massive spanning trees in large cities? One bad, configuration in the network would affect the whole network. Will all IP traffic have to travel to the core even if it is destined for an intra-MAN destination? I cannot imagine that a ARP broadcast in a large MAN is feasible.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a situation where I have tenants connecting to my wireless network and paying towards the internet bill. I am able to control this by using MAC filtering, but I have just realised that this only works for wireless clients.
Is there a way to replicate this for the router's Lan ports? Or possibly even just disable Lan access. The router model is a D-link DSL-2750U.
I recently bought a tenda w548d Version 2.0 Adsl2+ Modem router. it worked fine with its default settings and wired connection was ok when i chose DSL uplink while installing its driver from CD. But it couldn't connect wireless. There were strong signals but connected computer couldn't get access to the internet. so i tried using ethernet uplink instead of DSL uplink while reinstalling the software Since then the light of ADSL never lights, even it never blinks. now the software on the cd can connect to the router. i cannot access its settings using IP address in browser, the page wouldn't load. I am so worried. Can i revert the setting back to dsl uplink?I can connect to the internet very smoothly using my old router so you can't blame my phone line or lan wire. I have tried reset the new router many times but still the ADSL light never lights up. And the ADSL light is ok because when i turn the router on, it lights with all the others.

View 19 Replies View RelatedSimple enough, my computer is connected to my modem/router hybrid but it will NOT connect to the internet. The router is providing internet just fine (I am currently typing this on my laptop using internet from that same laptop). I have tried everything. I've tried the different ports on the router, I've tried different ethernet cables, I've even had the modem/router replaced. None of this has worked, so I am convinced that it is somehow a problem with the settings of the computer which will simply not connect to the internet.
The computer will connect to the router (I can login and fiddle around with settings). I've tried re-installing the ethernet card's driver (it's built into my mobo). I've tried inputting IP and DNS servers manually, but nothing works.

I recently acquired a new mobo to tide me over until I can get the spare money to order a new one (which probably won't be until after the first of the year) however, the board, while better than what I had, has some problems hence why I got it so "cheaply". The problems I had with it have been fixable/liveable with. Anyways, here's a description of my problem and some brief applicable system specs.
The ethernet port on this board was bad, knew that from purchase date. However I ordered a brand new card (10/100MB NIC PCI Ethernet Card), installed it, and the drivers all loaded, and the card is listed as working properly. I have no internet connection or network connection even listed. The way my system runs is as follows.
Computer/Ethernet Card -> Cat5 -> ASUS Router -> Cat6 -> ISP Router -> Outside
I have tried hard lining it direct from the ISP Router as well to no avail.I've even tried using the ipconfig.exe commands. Including /release, /flushdns, /renew. But, whenever I open the DOS panel with the command it just disappears in a millisecond.I know the PCI port on the board isn't bad because I literally just removed my USB expansion card from it to install this one. I even tried switching it with the other 2 PCI cards I have installed and they all work perfectly so it's not the PCI slot.
I've recently bought a new computer with a wireless card. However, the wireless signal is terrible, so I'm looking to try and get my PC plugged directly into my rooter (or by other means).
Do I have any other options of doing this, other than a wire from my rooter to my PC. Is there any other solution which enables me not have to plug into my rooter directly?? (as my rooter is in an awkward spot and has to stay there). Can I plug into an ADSL port for example? Or any other alternatives???
I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to anything to do with networks, internet access, LAN etc etc.
In my college dorm, there are ethernet plugs in the wall. Yesterday, the internet was working fine, but today, when I tried using the internet, it'll connect to the (router? group?), but it won't connect to the internet. I've tried the same plug with my roommate's Macbook, and it worked just fine, so I am assuming it is a problem with my computer (or my own incompetence). Normally, I would just try restarting my modem, but that isn't an option here.
