I' ve come across an weird ospf issue between my router connected via layer 2 service provider link, details as below.We have a base station router for satelite termination at service provider end connected via Layer 2 vlan link to a head end C3945, current interface for head end is a layer 2 vlan and layer 3 ip address lives under sub interface, config as below
-Head End router
-Cisco 33945
i am trying to set up a tunnel connection between twO 2800 routers A<->B
1) destination ip is-204.x.x.x-ROUTER A2) source ip is 166.x.x.22-ROUTER B The router B has the modem connected to GE0/1 whose interface ip is 166.x.x.22 The ip-forward-protocol nd is configured as below
ip route 204.x.x.x 255.255.255.255 166.x.x.21
Also tunnel 1 configuration,isakmp policy are configured properly when i run show crypto isakmp sa it shows MM_NO_STATE,i checked the preshared key on both ends and they are same.whenever i remove the ip address of the interface Ge0/0 and ip route i can ping the 166.x.x.21 which is the modem gateway.when i revert back the configuration to the above ,the ip 166.x.x.21 cannot be pinged,the dsl connection is live though.ways to fix this so that i can make this tunnel state to QM_IDLE?
Just a little bit of info on the setup I am TRYING to run:
1) Laptop connected to my router via wireless
2) Xbox 360 connected via ethernet port to Laptop
3) Forming bridge between wireless and LAN to give 2 access to internet whilst 1 being able to maintain access.
Foreword: I've tried using ICS before hand because it was a simple alternative, had problems with it and got IP address errors on 2. When it did work, worked exactly how I wanted/need it to. (Was very un-reliable )
Goal: Have constant wireless access to 1 and be able to turn off/ on 2 and have access to internet without any problems.
Problem: So I am able to bridge the two connections just fine and I maintain internet on both, but when I turn off 2 the wireless drops and will stay at " Identifying" for hours and will either A) completely drop and not connect or B) stalls at identifying.
The way I have been able to get wireless back on 1 is to delete the bridge I formed and un-bridge my wireless. At that point my wireless comes back instantly and there are no problems. The thing is I don't want to have to repeat the process every time I want to use 2. With ICS it was " Plug and Play" when it worked and that's my goal. To plug in the ethernet cord via LAN and to be able to use 2.
I have 2 ASBR routers, AGFR01RTR03 and AGFR02RTR03, performing OSPF to OSPF redistribution in both ways for the same ***. They also do summarization for our private addressing scheme. It is all working just fine for that part (neighbors, summarization, redistribution).

Currently the OSPF network consist of 2 segment route via static route.One is AREA 0 and another AREA 10.Both network are seperate entity, only static route to route between 2 networks.But the static route do not provide the dynamically and flexibility, I plan to run routing between 2 networks via VLAN160 and VLAN162.
I still want to manitnace it was 2 different OSPFrouting domain.Can I run OSPF with differrent OSPF porcess ID?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to backup my primary WAN with secondary backup connection - 3G WAN through Cellular 0/0/0.Point is that I need to track some external IP address on my primary interface, for examle 8.8.8.8. If it is not reacheable, then router brings up backup connection - 3G. This can be done by using dialer-watcher.Simple.But unfortunately my primary WAN interface is an FastEthernet, which is the coonected to a switch, switch to WAN . There is no dialer-watch commands on it. Thats sad .

I have a scenario where multiple branches are connected to Head Office via DSL links. The branches are located in differenct exchanges, everyone once in a while ALL branches go down at the exact same time except 3 branches and those 3 branches don't have ATM interface on the router, rather they have external DSL modem, all other branches that face the disconnection (for couple of minutes) have either HWIC-1ADSL-M or HWIC-2SHDSL and the DSL line is directly plugged into the card. I tried so many solutions like adding "operating-mode auto" command under the subinterface, IOS upgrade, changed dynamic routing protocol from EIGRP to OSPF... Nothing worked, on the logs of the router it just shows "EIGRP neighbor down", at the time of the problem I can't ping any of the affected branches on their WAN ATM interface although it stays physically "up up".Could the problem be a missing command that I need to add under the subinterface? Something maybe related to clocking or timeout or..?Note that hte problem occurs randomly, every few days, sometimes every 10 days, and all branches with ATM interface go down at the exact same time.

According to specifications fo Cisco ISR G2 2911, it has got 4 EHWIC slots. But in [URL] appears that Cisco2911 supports only 2 HWIC-2FE or only 2 EHWIC-1GE-SFP-CU.

When i recall IP base image then configuration show presence of HWIC card but with advance IP services HWIC card not showing.
We have configured new 2911 router with HWIC-2T with it.However we are seeing serial interfaces up, but can hardly ping other end. Again we are seeing a lot of CRC errors on serial interface.
But if we connected same cable, with other old router 2811, it works fine. Confiuration is same on both the routers. [code]
I have two HWIC-4T1/E1 in two 2821's I can not for the life of me find software so I can configure them in the routers. I see them in the inventory but don't see them in show ver. I would like to ask if a cisco 2811 running on an ios c2800nm-adventerprisek9-mz.124-25a.bin should be able to make an HWIC-1FE card work? I am also not detecting the card on any show commands. Plus i am seeing that all the LEDs (FDX/COL,100 and LINK/ACT) are lit steadily even though there is no cable attached to it, is it safe to say that the card could be defective?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to learn a little about Cisco router setup, since I'm fairly well versed in configuration. I have an 1841 w/ K9 that I'd like to set up as a WAN Router to hot swap if one of ours goes down. I installed a VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1 MultiFlex card in Slot 1 of the router.
Currently, if I run a "show diag", the VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1 shows up in Slot 1 but in the configuration I can't see it or configure it. Am I missing an enable or something? I thought I had to declare card type but I can only do that on the existing card, the router doesn't seem to recognize that the card is there in any place other than "show diag".
