I thought it was a bad router (I had a Netgear N300 that is about 2 or 3 years old) so I bought a new Cisco Linksys EA2700 N600 router and the same thing happens. I can connect to the internet through just the modem and it works fine. Is is just a setting or something? BTW, I have an Arris cable modem that is several years old and my ISP is Suddenlink, and am running Windows XP Professional SP3.

I have a router that I have not used for a year or so...I just recently moved to a new location and was trying to set it up...I completed the set up disk several times but I keep getting an error that says my router is connected but there is no internet access...When I plug the port directly to my PC I have internet...The router that I am using is Linksys WRT54G...I have even tried resetting to factory settings and I still can't get it to work.

But the issue is I have 3 connections, (2 wireless, 1 wired)Okay when I connect my modem to the router (Ethernet into WAN, blah blah) the modem suddenly loses signals. I've noticed this on the modem's status page. (192.168.100.1)The downstream power level would constantly change, and the modem will lose the Known CPE MAC Address. (When connected to the router)In order to fix the problem, I would need to connect directly to the modem and reset to the factory settings and wait out the 30 minutes.

my router has intermet but i cannot get a connection to my computerbut its not just my computer my bfs computer our PlayStation nothing can connect to it right now i tried going in network and settings and diagnosing it and i tried unplugging the motem amd all the wires nothing is working. Two of the lights on the motem are green one is orange the wirless is lighting up blue. This is not the first time either....it came back after a while last time but now its not.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIv been having a wierd time with my computer connecting to the internet lately. What we have is a setup of 2 routers:
1st - has my mums computer plugged into it and an xbox 360, and gets access to the internet through a modem.
2nd - is plugged into the first router, and it has my computer and my brothers connected.
Lately the 2nd router can't seem to pick up any internet connection and I'm not sure why. Usually the only way to fix this problem has usually been to reboot the modem and the 1st router, but since my mum often uses her computer its kind of awkward for me to keep rebooting it when she's using the internet just fine. As far as I'm aware the settings on both routers are still at their default values when we originally got them, so why I'm being disconnected 50% of the time is a bit of a nuisance.
We have a dlink DIR 615 router that keeps dropping the internet connection. I checked with our internet provider about the connection and it is fine. The desktop has no internet issues just the wireless devices. We run a laptop, iPod, cell phone and tablet. Everything was fine until we added the phone and the tablet.

Both the laptop and the tablet connect to the :HOME" network while the desktop connects to something called "Network 5" which does not show up anywhere in my setup. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using my D-Link Wireless G Router for more than one year now and haven't met any connection problem with it until a month ago. I can no longer access the internet when the Internet cable is plugged in the router. I can access the net when the cable is plugged directly to our desktop. I bought a new router which is TP-Link TL-WR470N but the results are still the same. I tried configuring both routers using DHCP and Static IP settings but nothing changes. Power Cycling doesn't change anything. Renewing the IP, resetting WINSOCK and DNS makes no progress for me.

Because it is a metal building we cannot get a wireless signal inside the building otherwise. The router connects to my Pc via Lan cable. I activated Internet Connection Sharing in the properties of my modem and connected it to the Internet.I hoped my Router would detect an Internet connection on My network and would enable internet connectivity on My wireless AP on the Router. But it didnt. is that windows refelcts "internet access" on both the actual Wireless network on my Router ("49 network") , and on both the Physical Connection to my pc via the Ethernet port ("3G Router") my laptop connects to the router, but without access to the internet, and I keep getting an 'unable to resolve host' message in my Browser. Suspecting my Router of somehow causing the problem I also tried setting up an Ad hoc network instead (using my wlan card to interface with the Laptop directly). They connect fine, and my Printers and other shared resources all appear, but the wireless range between them is like bluetooth compared to the great range of my router.& I still cant manage to share an Internet connection between the two machines!
