Wireless :: Can't Connect To Work Wireless Connection
Aug 31, 2011
I have a hp laptop and i use vista as OS. I can connect via wireless to any unsecured network, but i cannot connect wireless to my work network. I put the wireless key many times and i keep getting "connecting to network is taking longer than usual" at the end i get Window cannot connect diagnose the problem or connect to a different network. If I click on diagnose the problem the next window says Window could not connect to and it gives me the option to to view other available wireless network.
I tried to set up a wireless router yesterday and when trying to connect with my laptop it had limited or no connectivity. I tried a few things but I couldn't get it to work so i switched back to my wired connection. Trying to set up the wireless router is not my concern though at the moment. Now my desktop can connect to the internet but my laptop and ps3 can not obtain an ip address. My desktop does not have a wireless card, thats the only thing I can think of why it will work when the other devices dont.
Right now I have my cable modem hooked up to a D-Link switch with my desktop and laptop connected. The desktop can connect and I get a limited or no activity with my laptop. I have reset the modem multiple times, restarted computers, Right clicked on my connection and tried to repair it, connect the laptop straight to the modem and did all of the above again. The IP and DNS are set to obtain automatically. Nothing is working that I know of but I can plug in my desktop and its up and going in 2 seconds.
The router was a very old one given to me from a friend. Its a Linksys V1. It is not connect to anything or even on now. The last time I tried to use this router I didn't get it to work and this same thing happened. I took it into work the next day and they were able to connect via wireless and wired using my D-Link switch. When I got home it work again just fine.
Just 2 days ago I realized that the wired connection will not let me connect to the internet at all. However, I have a wireless connection and it lets me connect to the internet. I don't like using the wireless connection unless necessary. I tried updating the drivers and troubleshooting, and it still won't connect. It still has that exclamation mark for the wired connection. I use a Windows 7 laptop.
I have wonder that my laptop has wireless, and when i connect it to router to use internet it show wireless now is connect, but when i open the website it show not work..and this problem occur only my computer. and when the other computer laptop they can connect and use internet normal...
I installed a Micro Edition of Windows 7. Everything is going properly with it except the wireless internet connection (its driver is installed and working properly as shown in Device Manager), by click Connect and typing the PW, it tries for few minutes then fail in connecting putting a yellow small circle on the wireless icon in Task bar
I can't connect through wireless to my local anything router, NAS, printers. All the other computers can connect wirelessly with no problems. so I know that the wireless on the router is good. funny thin is that I can connect to LAN through the wired port on the laptop. Its a new laptop running windows 7 everything worked good until about 2 weeks ago. I must have changed something not sure whats up. I updated the driver on the wireless still no change. [code]
I try connecting via ethernet cable and it doesn't seem to work until the administrator of the network (my brother) comes home and then turns his computer on and starts using it. However, if i switch to a wireless adapter it sometimes works (like right now) even when my brother is not using the internet. Also, i tried to connect via wifi on my macbook pro to the same server and it used to work flawlessly 100% of the time, now i can only connect once in a while for short periods of times.
I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop that is about 6 years old running Windows XP. I have a Dell desktop with a cable modem and Linksys wireless router connected to the desktop to run my home wireless network.
Yesterday the wireless no longer worked on my laptop. I have a small wireless icon (looks like a computer monitor) with a yellow triangle with an explanation point inside. The messages are 'Signal Strength: Excellent' and 'Status: Limited or No Connectivity'. I have tried the following with no success:
- Rebooting the laptop (multiple timess)
- Resetting both the cable modem and router
- Turning off the desktop, resetting both the cable modem and router, and rebooting the desktop
- Took my laptop to work where a wireless connection is available and received the same messages
Thinking my wireless adapter / wireless card is bad I purchased a Linksys wireless USB adapter and just installed it. However it also cannot connect to my wireless network and issues a 'Open network Failure' error.
The Internet works fine from my desktop but is directly connected to the modem. I have not tried connecting the modem directly to my laptop to see if it would pick up the connection.
previously system was on internet explorer 8 and when turing on WAN only need to hit the F1 key, however since downloading internet explorer 9 and cd burner xp the f1 key isnt connecting me to wireless.
Work connection will load database about a third of the way then crash laptop. I can change out the router from the new Cisco e3000 to an old wireless router and it works fine.
Purchased an EA4500 router. I'm using an old HP 4L laserjet and have it connected to the router via the USB port. I have 2 Mac's and installed vusb on both. I can successfully print from both Mac's, however I have to manually disconnect and connect the printer in the vusb client. I can't get the auto-connect and auto-disconnect settings to work by themselves. Any guidance on the proper settings here?Additionally, do I need to configure the printer driver though the vusb client? When I click "configure", I get an error saying"Cannot connect to Prolific Technology Inc. IEEE-1284 Controller.
I have an existing home network with several win7 and XP machines connected.I would like to connect a new iPad wireless to th same work group. The iPad connects fine to the network and can access the internet. However, the iPad doesn't seem to see the other computers in the work group I want to connect it to, nor do the windows computers see the iPad. This is surely due (at least in part) to not having specified the work group name on the iPad, which I cannot figure out how to do.
I tried restarting the router and the computer, but to no avail. I've also tried with another ethernet cable and tried several ports, but that did not work, either. What is interesting is that other computers in the household connect to the router via wire without problems. I suppose that means something's wrong with my computer, however, I do not know what. I have a netgear router which says "N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router DGN2200v3" on the back. My computer has Windows 7 Home Premium installed. I'm using a DSL connection, and Avast! antivirus.
I've tried a number of ways to re-configure my E4200v1 router with Cisco Connect but without luck. I don't have the CD so I've downloaded it from this website and it loads and installs and launches but ultimately can never find the router. Part of the problem may be because I have a Verizon Fios Router already at 192.168.1.1. with the wifi and DHCP turned off, in favor of an Asus router which works well. I have tried taking the Cisco Connect installation off the wifi and onto a wifi through the E4200 Wan or Lan ports, but it still can't be found. I am able to get into the E4200v1 setting manually this way and to change its ip address to avoid the Fios Router conflict. But nothing works. Maybe I need to put the e4200 in the 192.168.1.1 range instead of the Asus 192.168.5.1 range? [code]
1. I set a router admin password different from WiFi password(passphrase).
2. I run my Cisco Connect app and it asks me to change my router admin password. If I don't change it - I can not use Cisco Connect app. If I provide my WiFi password then it changes my router admin password.
Maybe it was done to have a "simple" solution - 1 password for everything. But maybe its a bug because router admin password should be different from WiFi password fro security reasons.
I have Linksys configured with IP 192.168.0.x and my local network ip 192.168.1.x have firewall connected to Adtrans box that gives us internet access via T1 line and other port is connected to the switch. Wireless router is connected to the switch using internet port.I can connect to wireless using iphone but emails don't work when connected to wireless. I tried to connect laptop to wireless is does not connect.
I have the WUSB600N wireless adapter, and I'm using it with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I'm using the latest driver available, 3.0.10.0. When Windows first starts, the adapter is not working properly and fails to connect to any networks, no matter how long I wait. If I unplug it and plug it back in after Windows is already running, I do not have this issue. This also does not occur when "restarting" the machine; only when turning the machine off and then back on.
Is there any chance the Wireless Repeater mode work with WPA2-AES ?If not, which model of AP should I buy to connect it with my wap54g as Wireless Repeater?
I have a E4200v2 and im getting wireless connection issues. I have updated to the lastest firmware and have checked all my wireless settings. I dont use usb storeage. I have 1 laptop using 5G, my iphone using 2G and my wife mac using also 2G.. the problem is that, once we stop using the 2G connection (leave it overnight), it just dies the next day.. it wont connect, i double check the password and it wont connect. But the 5G connection is fine.. Do i have a break E4200v2? or anyway of fixing this?
I have got a new laptop from work and I cannot get our home wireless to connect. It works on our phones and we can use our neighbours laptop with it but just not ours. It is showing that our wireless is an option but we cannot get onto the internet, page cannot be found/no connection messages come up!
So today the comcast guy came over and he put in a new modem cause the other one broke, i have a wireless router hhooked into it. its a WRT120N router from cisco. After the net was installed it was working on my phone and my moms laptop, but on my laptop it picks up the wireless signal but will not connect. It has updated firmware and has no wireless protection because i live in the middle of no where so no pass required. my Wireless card is a Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 5300 in a Ibuypower.com laptop. Due to me not having internet without a modem for the past couple of days i have been at a friends gaming with it and the net has worked fine, but yesterday during starcraft but laptop kept losing internet randomly like it was just lose connection but after about 30-60 seconds it would reconnect itself and id be fine. but when i tried to connect to this new modem at my house which my moms pc can and my iphone can, it just stops connecting like the little screen just disapeers without a reason why it failed. Im not sure what it can be but my drivers are updated and i was wondering if it could have been a virus but my computer is clean.
I am not a computer tech. All i know how to do is play my games on them. I need to get the wireless working on this desktop but when i go to scan for a wireless network, its just saying broadband. how would i go about switching it to wireless?
I brought my laptop AND wireless router to work to have our IT guy look at it and it connected fine on my office network. Now that I have the router back at home and connected back to my modem, it won't work. If I'm hardlined into the computer through the modem/router it works fine. When I remove the cable from my laptop, I can see my router (network) but it's telling me it can not connect. The troubleshooting error is telling me that Windows did not receive any response from the wireless router or access points. I've tried configuring the router a thousand different ways, resetting it, resetting to factory defaults, etc.
I made a wireless connection via a rooter n a switch ,am able to connect to the wireless connection with my laptops but not my desktop n am in the right range.
Cant connect to my router at Home during LAN cable, i dont know why because my other laptop Can find it and connect it. My PC Can only find it but not connect it to the internet?
My laptop is working fine wirelessley however my desktop which is hardwired and has been working fine for months wont connect to internet ? Ive brought my laptop upstairs and it connects fine via LAN cable to obv an issue with desktop computer/settings
Have tried all the usuall restarting modem etc ... dont know what to do to try and resolve the issue
Since successfully restoring my laptop to factory settings I have been unable to connect using my Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection.Initially it worked, but after a while it stopped. I have completed several system restores, and the wireless connection works for a few days. On the last occasion (after installing windows updates) I received the dreaded blue screen and have been unable to connect.I am not sure if it is related to installing new windows updates as prior to restoring to factory settings I had no issues with my wireless connection.I am able to connect using the ethernet cable and I am currently able to connect using Pluscom wireless usb adapter. I recently upgraded my internet to a faster speed. I received a new router. I am able to connect my laptop via ethernet connection without any issues. I am able to connect my laptop wirelessly both at work and at school. I am unable to connect wirelessly at home. I can connect my stand alone computer to my internet connection. I am also able to connect my smart phone to this connection. When I attempt to log into the internet connection I enter the passphrase as instructed the entire screen goes blank and when I try to reconnect the computer is automatically entering a different passphrase and gives me a message "waiting for network" then it disappears and I am not connected - when I attemp to correct the passphase it will not store the new setting. I have tried updating the driver - changing the passphrase - restarting the computer, I have used the diagnostic check provided by Century Link and spent over 4 hours on the phone with them trying various things without any connection.
when i log onto my laptop a wireless network connection is always shown but i couldn't connect to that network because the error messege is allways shown
