getting near my home internet keeps shutting off and i lose the internet for half hour periods of time or more now im sure it will get worst as the storm gets closer. i run my cell phone usb tethered to the pc how do i setup my pc to share that internet from the ethernet cord so i can say run my xbox online plugged into the pc ethernet jack?
I have a desktop with a "black screen", but the computer is running. I need to get files/documents off that computer. How can I get them without being able to see the monitor? I have a netbook, a portable hard drive, and regular ethernet cables, but not a cross over cable.
I want to connect my laptop to desktop to share internet. I want to share my laptops usb 3g data card modem internet connection with my desktop using lan.I had gone in the properties of my usb 3g internet connection and then selected to share it with lan under share tab. but on lan adapter of both the computer it says unidentified network. Steps to share my 3g usb modem connection with the lan. I am having cat5 crossover cable to connect pc to pc. Both are running windows 7 ultimate 32bit.
There is no "blinking light" indication on my E3000 at the Internet (Yellow label) and Ethernet port no 4. I tried plugging in 2 cables at all of the ports. I got the blinking indication at Port 1 through 3. The same cable's have no response at Port 4 and Internet port. As a result my I am not able to connect to the internet.
I have my bigpond internet setup on my main pc,works fine connected to a router but i want to connect to the internet via ethernet cable on my 2nd pc. I have a ethernet port on the wall near it so that should work. I don't want to run a long ethenet cable from my router to my 2nd pc because there's a ethernet port right next to it.
I installed the DIR 655 router using the install disk. I hooked up my Vista desktop machine via the ethernet port. I also activated a Roku box and my Itouch successfully via the wireless.I turned MAC filtering on and manually entered the MAC addresses for the three devises. Everything worked fine. After I rebooted the desktop, I could no longer get to the internet via the desktop connected through the ethernet. The Roku Box and I-Touch both work fine and enjoy a strong wireless connection.I've tried rebooting the desktop several times, but still can not access the web. I also can not access the router by typing in 192.168.0.1. I entered the configsys stuff and verifited that I am using the right numbers.
I have an telemetry equipment which have one ethernet RJ45 port, so I have an internet connection and I can connect to this device remotely using a browser on my PC for security reason I want to feed this device with a second internet connection that is coming from a cellular line , can I just put the two different Internet cables into a switch and from that switch connect my device?
I have the DIR-655, Rev. B running 2.07NA firmware, and have a strange problem with my wired clients. I have my primary computer/desktop PC connected via wired connection. I also have several wireless clients (laptop, iPad, iPhones, etc.). All have been performing normally. However, in December I connected a wired weather internet bridge to another ethernet port on the DIR-655.
It functions as it is supposed to, and all other connected devices do as well. But here's the problem - whenever I use the desktop PC (the only other wired connection) to do anything on the internet (mostly just web browsing ... I don't stream media from the internet on it, I don't do torrents....nothing out of the ordinary, and nothing really of high bandwidth), the wired weather bridge cannot communicate with its associated website. This continues as long as I'm using the desktop PC. When I stop using the desktop, the weather bridge resumes normally.
I have researched the weather bridge, and it is simply doing POST transactions (or so I'm told) to the website listening to it. It doesn't wait for acknowledgements or anything...just keeps POSTing updates. I tried reserving an IP for the weather bridge and the desktop, enabling QoS, and prioritizing the weather bridge (100 vs. desktop at 125), but it didn't work. I've tried moving the weather bridge into the DMZ. I'm totally baffled how just using the desktop to browse the internet could completely block the traffic from the weather bridge.
On the weather bridge support site, they suggested that I insure I'm not connected in gigabit speeds from my computer to the router, because in the past that has been known to cause issues on clients not running that speed, but I don't think my desktop is connected in that fashion. According to the settings, it can do 10 or 100, full or half. I have it set to AUTO.
I have a Dell Laptop Latitude 610 and I have not been able to connect to the Internet via the ethernet cable port for some four months now. I've tried downloading software from Dell's web site, I bought (and returned) and USB to Ethernet cable, only to find out that it was a model ahead of what this machine needs.I've asked local repair place (Microcenter) what it might be, but they'll only tell me after I pay $70 just to open it up.Another repair guy said that it is probably the motherboard and it wasn't worth fixing. (Yet if it was, wouldn't the entire computer decide not to work at all?) [code]
I was very happy working with my WRT610N connected to the ethernetport of my previous internet modem. Recently I had to switch to a new modem CISCO EPC3925. Unfortunately this combination does not work anymore. I don't get an internet connection on my WRT610N anymore. I therefore have to connect all computers (LAN and WIFI) to this EPC3925. Especially for the WIFI I'm not fully happy. My IPAD2 sometimes does not want to connect, a problem which never occurred when connecting to WRT610N.
I probably need to change a setting, but where? In the EPC3925 or in WRT610N?
I've had trouble connecting to my own internet and have no wireless. I'm using my neighbor's wireless and it's really slowing her's down. I've tried restarting my laptop (it usually works) and then reinstalled the device under "device manager". It's not the cord, I've checked with my neighbor's laptop and it works fine.I use a Sony Vaio VGN-NS140E with Windows Vista SP2.

I have a Dell XPS M1530 with Vista 32 bit. When i plug in a cable i get nothing, no error, and the comp does not recognize that a cable has been plugged in. I think that this started after my Hard drive failed and Dell replaced it but i'm not positive. No errors (? or !) in Device Manager and I can't find the Marvell 88E80XX 10/100 Ethernet Controller in device manager. I have attempted to Reinstall the drivers. The wireless is still working. I have one Light to the right of the port that is on all the time solid but no flashing with the cable in or out.
if I can use the encrypted port as unencrypted ethernet ports? url.. Each individual port on the Cisco Nexus 5010 switch is numbered, and groups of ports are numbered based on their function. The ports are numbered top to bottom and left to right. There are 20 to 28 ports on the Cisco Nexus 5010 switch, depending on which GEM is installed.
The 20 fixed ports form group 1 and are named 1/port_number. Ports 1 through 16 are unencrypted Ethernet ports. Of these, ports 1 through 8 are 10-Gigabit Ethernet and 1-Gigabit Ethernet-capable ports. Ports 17 through 20 are encryption-capable Ethernet ports.
I have a Cisco 857 router which i used for Internet connection with RJ11 connectior (ADSL0 POTS) but now the ISP has changed the internet link with PPOE type and the ONT connection is RJ45 , Is there a possibility to configure one os the Fast Ethernet ports as WAN port for internet.
I'm sure this may appear to have been asked before but I've scoured the Internet and can't find anything exactly applicable to the setup I'm trying to achieve. I had a sky ADSL connection in my living room that had my tv, ps3, NAS and netbook wired in. I've since changed to a sky fibre connection but this had to be installed in the master phone line which is upstairs. This obviously isn't a problem for all of the wireless devices around the house including the netbook and ps3 in the living room. The NAS and TV are still wired to the old router so can see each other with no problems. Any pc trying to connect to the NAS can just switch to the old router via wifi if desired. The only problem I have is that the TV can no longer access the Internet.
I initially tried to use ICS on the netbook (it's left on permanently) - it's wired to the old router and wirelessly connected to the new one. This appeared to be working for a while but is no longer playing ball. I've tried bridging the connections and the tv and NAS both had Internet access but it's very sporadic. Is this a reasonable setup or should I be looking for another solution? I can specify a manual ip, subnet and default gateway on the tv if necessary - I was going to point it towards the bridge's gateway but I don't know about IP?
I'm using a CAT5e cable. But it gives only a 10 MB/s file sharing speed. What is the reason for this? (In both the computers under "Local Area Connection Status" it shows 100 Mbps for the speed)
We have a quad port NIC on our Dell server.I want to take all 4 ports and plug it into our switch and have it all go to the same IP of the server and just have to share the data load in/out.Do I need to configure anything to do this?
A few days ago, my lappy crashs (Blue Screen) and when i managed to get the page showing, start windows normal mode, safe mode or last know good config, i select the last known good config, But when i get into the windows, i have these message on my network icon saying limited or no connectivity. I run ipconfig on cmd, and got all
0.0.0.0
i have seen some of the troubleshoot advice on other thread on ipconfig/release, flush and renew but it doesnt works i tried to reinstall my drivers, but still the same, There wasnt any ! on my device manager, and i have selected the internet protocol, IP address and DNS, Automatically but still, it doesnt works
I am quite a bit rusty from my days of networking. I am trying to setup my lab so I purchased 3 cisco 2501 to study for my CCNA, my question is? I have 2 serial interfaces and 1 AUI for ethernet on each router. How can I configure the Ethernet interface, if I don't see it on the configuration. From the CLI command I issue the command show ip int brief. But It only shows the 2 serials but no E0 interface.
PS. I do have an Ethernet Transceiver connected to the AUI port on the router with a straight through cable going into a 2950 switch.
Is it possible my Laptop Ethernet port is dead? After I got home today I noticed that the store that passed by caused a short power outage. I knew this because several electronic devices that rely on constant power were reset.Next to be noticed was that my computer had no connection to the internet, and my Ethernet port has a constant orange light on.I proceeded to perform a full network restart for my modem, router, and computer. This solved the internet connection to my router. My roommate was able to connect via an Ethernet cable to the internet on any of the routers ports, but I was still unable. However,I was able to connect to the wireless on my computer. Unfortunately no matter what port, or cable I use my Ethernet port still is unresponsive to it all, and still has the constant orange light.you.Specs:Manufacturer: Gateway

The green light on my Ethernet port is always on. Even when I unplug the Ethernet cable and shut down my computer. The only way it turns off is when I unplug my computer from the outlet. Also, my computer doesn't receive any internet when an Ethernet cable is plugged in and the yellow flashing light doesn't show either. I know the Ethernet cable is fine and the internet works fine on other computers
The modem is sure working and so as the Ethernet cable since I am using it with another computer. I already had the driver updated but still it's not working. I actually suddenly heard noise in my computer before this happened. OS Windows 7.
My daughter is going to university. An Ethernet connection is provided but she wants to work wirelessly. Is there a gadget to attach to the Ethernet port that will create a wireless signal for her to connect her iPad and PC laptop?
Would a Linksys USB300M Network Adapter allow my computer to connect to the internet via Ethernet? My computer has an Ethernet port that doesn't work. I need Ethernet connection to connect to the internet through FIOS. I currently use an USB port on my computer to connect using DSL. I want to purchase a USB-Ethernet adapter that plugs into my USB port but has an Ethernet jack at the other end: USB300M Network adapter - Hi-Speed USB
My custom built desktop is not recognizing an ethernet cord. The lights are not coming on when I plug it in. The device manager does not show network adapters. Im not sure where to find it/ not sure its there.
The ethernet ports across the entire campus including the halls all host multiple networks via one port. I connect to the port and I get one connection, and my friend connects to get a second connection through the same port, and a third person connected via the same port to get yet another connection. I think there may be 4 connections being hosted through this in total. Now, the university have 3 main streams of internet: 1 for Staff/postgrad, 1 for students, 1 for exchange students. The fourth connection type is intranet with only access to a portal. The purpose of the portal is to submit your mac address for wireless and ethernet to be assigned an IP address for both. The issue we are having is my friend needs to connect to the exchange students connection for actual internet access, but the ethernet cable will only connect her to the portal (all her details have been submitted). I have cycled through every window in the networking control panel and usually issues like this I can resolve within a couple of hours but how to identify other networks that are available through ethernet.
TWC / Road Runner modem dir-655 - Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.00NA dap-1522 windows xp xbox 360 powerphone voip adapter
Here is my setup:
TWC / RR cable modem to 655 655 port to xp machine 655 port to voip adapter 655 wireless to 1522 1522 port to xbox 360
I am no guru but managed to get all this working about 6 months ago. Other than some TWC outages it has been fine.Couple days back the XP stopped seeing the net. It could still see the LAN. The voip adapter and 1522 / xbox 360 still work fine. Here is what I have tried:
Plugged XP in 1522, worked fine. Plugged XP directly into cable modem, worked fine. Plugged XP into port the voip is working on, did not work. Tried other 3 ports on 655, did not work.
Since the XP machine works with the 1522 and cable modem I am assuming the XP machine is not the problem.Since the voip adapter works on the 655 ports I am assuming the ports are not the problem.
I recently installed Arkham City on my computer played it for a while, tried google chrome, gave me a corrupt profile error or something (internet still worked and was connected at the time) restarted my computer and now it's telling me there isn't an ethernet cable connected to my computer.
Here's what I tried so far:
-Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver
-Updating the driver
-Using the network troubleshooting for windows 7
-Doing a system restore before I installed the game (gave me an error saying could not complete restore)
-Currently scanning my computer in safe mode with networking (seeing if that might work, doesn't) with malewarebytes
-Unplugged and replugged the router and modem
-Checked the router on another computer to see if there's a connection (there is none)
-Checked the router to see if there is a light in the port connected to the ethernet, it's blinking at a very slow a steady pace, unlike the ones around it which are solid green lights
-Tried the ethernet cable on another computer, works fine.

I've been having an issue with my internet connection. I have AT&T Uverse high speed internet, complete with the Motorola NVG510 ADSL modem. For the past couple weeks, my download speeds have gone from 1.0 MB/s to < 100 KB/s up to 400 KB/s if I'm lucky.I used to be able to download files and watch videos at the same time with very little trouble, but now I only have enough bandwidth to either do one or the other without causing any problems. I thought my ISP had throttled my bandwidth, but I've run the Glasnost tests at url... and it came back as fine.It may not mean anything, but I should note that a few weeks ago, we had storms move through the area and lightning struck our house. It ended up shocking my mom through the USB mouse while she was using my computer, it blew out one of my computer speakers, and I believe it's the reason why the ethernet port on my motherboard no longer works.
I was having a cleanup of the desk and unplugged the cable shortly, and after plugging it back in it could no longer find any connection. The only way I seem to be able to get connected to the internet now is to run a cable to my ethernet switch, and then onwards to my computer itself. Even when doing this the net seems to be very slow, won't connect through Chrome etc or just flat out won't connect.
