Aug 6, 2012On a number of 6500 chassis it appears that linecard 3 did exist at somepoint, but was removed.Problem is that when issuing the 'show int desc' or 'show ip int brie' the ports for the still appear, and indeed same with 'show run' and 'show conf'.

May 3, 2012I know there are some line cards on the 6500 that do not play well with each other when trying to setup an etherchannel using two different line cards on the same chassis. I always thought it was line cards of different type, i.e. 6400 with a 6700 but these two line cards are exactly the same model with the same code level.
1) Are the error messages below from this incompatibility between line cards and etherchannel creation?
2) How to fix if the answer to #1 is yes?
3) What line cards work with which for etherchannel creation?

If I mixed the 68xx and 69xx series line card, do I get 80Gbps for the 6900x and 40gbps for the 68xx line card? Or would the 69xx series line card be downgraded to 40Gbps?
From my understanding, the 68xx series has a DFC card and thus the fabric speed operates independently.

I am enclosing a little part of the "show tech"of this VSS 6500 where is possible to see the high memory utilization of the line cards 1/1, 1/2, 2/1, and 2/2, in despite of having some ports in state connected. May 12, 2013I have installed DCNM 6.2(1) on red hat 5.5 64bit and installed 4 evaluation (advanced) licenses on dcnm server:

Licenses are activated on a total of 31 devices (nexus 5000 and 3000 series), data is being monitored, graphics are drawn. However under the Web user interface of DCNM, under Health, Virtual Port Channels (vPC) no data is shown. Performance, vPC is also empty. No vPC errors/notifications are displayed. The installed advanced-eval licenses should support all the bells and whistles (including vPC), but still- no monitoring is done about vPC-s. vPC-s are up and active. network is discovered and monitored via snmp v2c only. could this be limiting vPC discovery- needing snmpv3/ssh access?
