I just set up a new Cisco 300 Series Switch to replace an old switch on our network. We have probably 6 switches around our facility, all of them working fine (except for this one).
We have Windows SBS 2008. If I plug a PC directly into the switch that is NOT configured for SBS (in other words, it hasn't joined the domain) I have no problems accessing the internet. However if I connect PCs configured for SBS that have joined the domain to the switch, they can only access our intranet and not connect out to the internet.
The switch is currently configured for a static IP address and the client PCs are all dynamic.
I'm looking at doing an intranet project at work. What i want is to have one main machine that will have a forum and website on (probably Windows IIS on Windows 7). Then i want to have approximately 10 other users on laptops that can connect to my intranet forum and site via "wireless" connection, but at the same time none of those 10 laptops or my main machine having any "internet" access. Is this possible and if so how
Small business with 4 computers networked together and sharing coommon software programs and files. Need to block one of the computers access to the Internet whille allowing the other 3 access to the Internet. Is this possible/ If so How?
My office pc internet ADSL router is connected on USB port and office intranet router is connected to LAN post throuh a CAT-5 cable. Both have different gateways.I have manually configured both USB and LAN but internet and intranet does nt work together.I am required to disable one connection to connect the othet one.I want to remotely connect to my office pc and work on intranet( oracle database) .i connect through team viewer but as internet is on,intranet does nt open.i tried to add intranet gateway throuh command line also but it did nt work.office pc is xp ..home pc is vista..
I'm trying to connect my portables to a central server that has all my music on it, all located in the same area. I've tried ad-hoc but it limits me to using the preset shared folders only, and its frustrating to use as it breaks once a computer leaves the network.Anyways i just want to create an off-line wireless intranet that will remain persistent even when all computers have left it. This doesnt seem to be possible with built-in windows tools, what program will let me do this?
My problem is that I have a Cisco 300 series small business switch with multiple VLANS each one with an IP address and two or three ports assigned to each VLAN. I have an E3200 wireless router that I want to use to use to share internet on the switch. All of the VLANs are reachable from the other VLANs and I've put a static route on the E3200 so that I can reach the VLANs from a machine connected only to the router. But I can't reach machines on the otherside of the router or get to the internet from the switch.
I am trying to setup internet access and intranet access using two cards per PC. I don't have sever software and I want to be able to share files between several machines. I have two routers. One that connects to cable modem and one that connects to intranet side. I have assigned different static ip addresses to both cards.
We inherited a lot of the equipment from another team of network administrators and every now and then, we run into a switch with some old code or configuration that was left behind and missed by us. Today, I discovered that CPP was enabled on 3 of our access-layer switches in one of the buildings we support.
I'm trying to configure Catalyst 2960 series 8 port switch in my office. I have just plugged in switch and started and then put Ethernet cable (which is coming from the wall port (LAN) into CONSOLE (switch). and connected my laptop's ethernet cable to switch's 1x por
I connect a WRV210 router with Small Business 100 Series Unmanaged Switch SG 100-16 Switch. But the switch is not work with the router. In the port of switch (connect with router), no light. In router, the port is disable.Do I need cross-over ethernet cable connect with them?I tried connect WRV210 directly to computer, that is work. I tried connect WRV210 to other (no name) switch and connect this switch with Cisco Switch 100-16 switch than they are work. why?
I am about to buy 2x Series 500 switches but before that I have a design to be sure :I want to create a redondant network so it is the reason why I want to stack 2x Series 500 switches. Each server on my network (ESX and Windows 2008) are connected with two NIC (one port on the first switch , one port on the second switch), with trunk mode + etherchannel for LACP.
First question : I saw that the limitation is up to 8 etherchanel groups, can I have a mix of multiple servers on the same etherchannel group or should I create one etherchanel group for one server with only the two NIC inside?
Second question:I want to use the series 500 to do intervlan routing and want to be sure that if the the ports are in trunk mode with some vlan set on the card itself that the default gateway for the vlan will be propagated on the two switches (in stack mode) and will not cause any issues when both switchs works fine and if one switch crashes?
I have a SF 300-24 24-Port 10/100 Managed Switch and I am trying to set some VLANs. The image below shows how I want it to be setup:Since the remote site goes through the Internet, making port 20 an 802.1Q trunk over the two VLANs will give WAN connectivity to VPN/E-mail.I've tried all sort of settings [ see attachments] but can't get it work.
I have a routed interface on a Cisco 6500 Series switch. I am trying to find a way to adjust the tcp mss.To date I have not yet been able to find a way to accomplish this. Is this just not supported?
We are using cisco ME 3400 E series switch. Which port we can use as CFM port ? We configured CFM in gig port.Is all the ports will act as CFM port or any separate CLI command is there for enable ?
I've seen lots of posts from people having problems routing traffic between two vlans with some complicated examples. Any simple step-by-step example for an SG300 switch (in layer 3 mode) to configure two vlans and sending traffic between the two vlans without an external router?
-VLAN1 10.10.10.0 -VLAN2 10.10.20.0
I've tried to do this through the GUI and can't seem to make it work. I'm missing something in the GUI.
I have mounted a cisco 2950G series switch in the network. we are working on Multicasting so I have LAN connectivity from one location ot other.
Situation:- 1- we do not have to do anything at remote location. its already done with final configuration and working fine because we other location witch are connected with this same HP switch at remote site and working fine but problem is only with one location where I have changed switch(cisco2960). when i connect cable from MUx to the switch cisco switch (Local) on particular port its does not response (LED continuously glowing amber color and does not go to green color) and communication does not start.for fixing this issue I have done so many things, vlan, duplex, speed- done everything but response.
situation 2:-when I changed this cisco device and use any other vendor's switch whether its manageable not manageable its get start proper communication. so I am unable to figure out whats the issue with. is there new or latest switch are not compatible with other vendor.
Updated formware of a partners ESW224 to the current GA code.I tried to add a ACL to a ESW switch. The switch was connected to a SA520.
I setup a guest network on a AP541 and propogated that guest VAP VLAN down through a ESW224 and down to a SA520.
On the SA520 I disabled IP routing between VLANs. All worked OK. Guest and corporate clients could get differeing IP addresses deopending on which VAP they connect to.
But the wireless guests could still ping the management interface of the SA520. This is a security violation for the partner.Tried to setup a ACL on a ESW224 to deny traffic from getting to the normal corporate vlan or 192.168.75.0.
But received a popup on the ESW when i tried to create a ACL. It suggested there is a lack HW resources.
I disabled ESW advanced QOS.Tried to add a ACL , but still have a error message saying lack of HW resources. Why do I get a message saying lack of HW resources ?
We are facing cold start issue on 4500 series switch. The switch is restarting automatically almost weekly twice or thrice. As per show tech. output , there is "cold start log".Please find the attached logs for your reference. After time change , auto restart happening & am not found any log for power failure also.
When i connect two cisco 2960 series switchs via stright trough cable causes delay in transmission sw1 has vlans and having trunk port connected to router all vlans are able to access internet sw2 is connected to vlan5 on switch1 sw2 has factory default configuration computers on sw2 can access internet but I have low bandwith problem on sw2 there is transmission delay problem?
We have a 4500 series switch that is running around 39% cpu utilization but seems to be dragging a bit. I did a show platform health and GalChassisVp-review has a target of 3% but an actual of 17%. All other actual values were at or below target values. I then went to show platform cpu packet statistics and in the "Packets received by Packet Queue" all queue packet values at 5 sec, 1 min, 5 min and 1 hour avg were either 0 or 1 with the exception of Esmp - that averaged 351/377/317 and 313 respectively. I then checked show platform hardware acl input entries static and the entry type InputEsmpToCPU had a whopping 10121370 hit count. All other entry types were well under that number.
how to safely remove the WiSM2 from the Catalyst 6500 series switch? According to the documentation "Catalyst 6500 Series Wireless Services Module 2 Installation and Verification Note":
To remove the WiSM2, perform these steps:
Step1 Shut down the module by one of these methods: In privileged mode from the router prompt, enter the hw-mod module mod shutdown command. NoteIf you enter this command to shut down the module, you must enter the following commands in global configuration mode to restart (power down, and then power up) the module: Router# no power enable module modRouter# power enable module mod If the module does not respond to any commands, press the SHUTDOWN button located on the front panel of the module.
Step2 Verify that the WiSM2 shuts down. Do not remove the module from the switch until the POWER LEDis off.
But, in the case of Step1 (1st methods) I do not see a option "shutdown" in the command "hw-mod module 3"...
All I prompted to enter is: c6500#hw-module module 3 ?
boot Specify boot options for the module through Power Management Bus control register
reset Reset specified component
simulate Simulate options for the module Is it hidden options?
IOS version of c6500 is 12.2(33)SXJ1
In the case of Step2 (2nd methods) there is not any button on the front panel of the module?
And yet, it is better to remove the module configuration manually or use the command module clear-config prior to removing the module?
But when I telnet to the device and run a "show env temperature status" I get:
# show env temp status Temperature Value: 32 Degree Celsius Temperature State: GREEN Yellow Threshold : 51 Degree Celsius Red Threshold : 61 Degree Celsius
So I'm not sure why I am getting a "1" when using snmpget on the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.3.1.3.1005 which is (ciscoEnvMonTemperatureStatusValue)??
If I run the same OID on another 3560G Router I get the correct output from snmp....
